1.

What connections are you making within this class, and to other classes you are taking
or have taken since starting college?

University Writing 1103 is a course that shares similarities with classes I have taken in the past
and classes I am currently in. In my Sociology course we did an inquiry project and I focused on
the sociological effects on global climate change. For my UWRT inquiry project I have not
decided yet what I will research, but I am sure it will be an interesting topic. I enjoy that we get
to pick our own topic and we have freedom in this course. The discussion part of class is similar
to my Global Connections class as participation is mandatory but coming together as a class
and listening to each other’s ideas is important and makes class interactive.

2. How would you describe your writing process? Has it changed at all since the start of
the semester?

I believe I have become more creative with writing as seen in my Language & Literacy project.
Prior to this course I was used to only writing formally, thus this course has given me the
opportunity to be more creative with my writing. Thinking of ways to be creative with my
writing and breaking the norm of a “five-paragraph essay” has challenged me; however, this
will be useful in my future courses.

3. Reviewing the syllabus and your initial blog post, how would you describe the extent
to which you are meeting your general semester goals?

My writing has grown a lot throughout this course. I approach writing differently now when
given freedom. I am more creative when approaching certain projects, which is new to me. As
far as learning new strategies and strengthening the foundation of my writing, the inquiry
project will most likely cover those. I look forward to seeing how my writing will progress
throughout the rest of the semester.

4. Please discuss your thoughts on the feedback you have received from peers and your
instructor on your written work. Also, how have you helped your peers with their
writing?

I have appreciated the feedback from my peers as it helps me to improve my writing skills. I
think the comments are encouraging and effective. Dr. Rand has helped me a lot with the set-
up of my project to insure I approached my audience in the most effective way. I have helped
my peers through reading their posts and responding to them on what should be critiqued.

5. What are you proud of in the work you’ve done in the course so far? This could be your
written work, class participation, collaboration, etc.

I am proud of the creativity shown in my Literacy & Language project. I am proud of how my
creativity in writing has improved as a whole. My writing speed has increased, and my writing
anxiety has decreased. Dr. Rand has shown us that there are many ways to approach writing
and I am proud to have learned some of those ways. I am proud of my blog posts in general as
they make me reflect upon important discussions in class.
