Report on the Field visit to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and

Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)

Introduction
Adequate meteorological data are of fundamental importance to sound planning of
agricultural projects. At many promising but isolated project sites, climatic data may be
unavailable or inadequate, in which new agrometeorological stations need to be established,
or existing ones strengthened.

Objectives
At the end of the exercise, the student should be able to:
1. Describe the location of the agromet and/or synoptic station;
2. Assess the equipment layout and exposure;
3. Prepare the list of weather equipment, sensors, and elements measured; Also describe
how the equipment sensor works.
4. Prepare the list of data available for classroom use.

Scope and limitation

This instrument is using according to the place and time the instrument was developed
to conduct the reports and data about the weather. This instrument use only of the expert
people who have knowledge about the agrometeorological.

Methodology

Materials
1. Paper, pen, and camera
2. Weather instruments in the station
3. References

Methodology
Methodology
1. Upon arrival, determine the geographical coordinates (longitude, latitude) and
elevation, and environment surrounding the agromet and/or synoptic station.
2. Use Doorenbos (1976), PAGASA (2010) and WMO (2010 & 2011) to examine the
equipment layout and exposure;
3. Prepare the list of weather equipment, sensors, and elements measured; Also describe
how the equipment sensor work.
4. Compile the list of available data for Classroom use.

 Thermometer- A thermometer measures the degree of hotness or coldness of
a given substance
 Hygro thermograph-
A thermograph is an instrument that records air temperature continuously on
graphing paper
