1. What is Outcome Based Education in response to Quality Learning?

Is a process of curriculum design, teaching, learning and assessment that focuses on what students can
actually do after they are taught. It is a comprehensive approach to organizing and operating an educational
system that is focused on and defined by the successful demonstrations of learning sought from each student. Is
an approach that focuses and organizes the educational system around what is essential for all learners to know,
value and do to achieve a desired level of competence at the time of graduation.

It is a clear learning result that we want students to demonstrate at the end of significant learning
experiences.

2. Explain the whole Principles of OBE?

a. Clarity of Focus about outcomes- Learners are certain about their goals and are always given significant,
culminating exit outcomes.

b. Designing Backwards – Using the major learning outcomes as the focus and linking all planning, teaching
and assessment decision directly to these outcomes.

c. Consistent High Expectation of Success- Helping students to succeed by providing them encouragement
to engage deeply with the issues they are learning and to achieve the set of high challenging standard.

d. Expanded Opportunity- developing curriculum that allows every learner to progress in his/her own pace

and that caters to individual needs and differences.

3. Explain the Following:

a. Teaching as a Ministry- connotes or imply the performance of certain activities for others. It may be in
the form of service of Teachers to their students in order to help them succeed in life. Teaching comprises the most
meaningful ministries in our life . By helping the students realize their dreams through education, teachers
unconditionally extend to them their assistance so that they will be able to think independenttly, make wise decision
for themselves and others so that in the end they will be able to make a difference.

b. Teaching as a Profession- Teaching as a Profession is in equal footing with other professions by virtue
of P.D. 1006 which professionalizes teaching in the Philippines promulgating the crucial and relevant role of Teachers
in shaping the future of our nation through education. It has its own body of specialized knowledge. It establishes its
own policies and standards for professional exercise.

c. Teaching as a Science- like other profession, teaching must subject itself to an organized and objective
planning, preparation and execution of the lessons in order to direct the learners towards the different learning
episodes. It commits itself to a unbiased analysis, problem-solving and modification of the outcomes of learning.

d. Teaching as a Vocation-it is in this concept of teaching that a teacher is committed to endure in the
teaching profession against all odds. If teaching is viewed as a mere job, one will have In her mind the monetary
rewards that teaching will provide. But for most teachers, genuinely loving it for the learners’ sake elevates teaching
into the noblest profession. Other Teachers are being offered lucrative teaching positions abroad but yet they
persevere to teach here in the Philippines to educate the Flipino

4. Explain further the following Principles of Effective Teaching and Learning

a. Teacher’s knowledge of the subject matter is essential to the implementation

of important teaching task.

A good foundation about the subject matter is essential to enable him/her to conduct substantial
discussion. This will allow him/her tp deliver the lesson with ease and confidence and will permit greater possibility
for students to be challenged and inspired by the manner on how he/she delivers the information with mastery.
Having a wide range of information enables the teacher to transfer meaningful and relevant information to the
learners. It takes a good teacher to make every topic functional.

b. Active involvement of the Learner enhances learning.

To enhance learning, students should be actively involved or engage in the learning process.
Engagement requires the learner’s attention and commitment. The teacher should carry out activitiesthat will
enhance the learner’s cognitive, affective, manipulative thinking skills. Teachers should plan and implement
engaging activities for the students to intrinsically love learning.

c. Students benefits from seeking responsibility for their learning .

As one Philosopher said “You cannot force someone to learn.” Learning can only be activated by
Learner himself. This applies to both young and old learners. Even if the teacher is a good lecturer, there would be
times that their students would not even recall the things they have said. A teacher should me open-minded to the
fct that circumstances like this happens. Thus the teacher should allow their students to figure out the
solutions/answers for themselves through proper motivation. The learners must make what they learn as part of
themselves.

d. Expect more and you will received more- High expectations from the teacher begets high
outcomes from the students. This means that everyone can be inspired to aim for a good academic performance
and even right conduct for as long as the teacher is supportive of this goal. It is a given fact that learners differ in
terms of their ability, slow, average and fast learners. If the teacher wants the students to achieve something it is
the teachers role to provide activities that will help, guide and encourage students to perform at their best.

e. Learning is enhanced in an atmosphere of cooperation- learning is collaborative and

social not competitive and isolated. Cooperative learning produces greater student achievement than traditional
training learning methodologies. Cooperative learning groups set the stage for students to learn social skills. These
skills help builds stronger cooperation among group members. Leadership, decision making, trust building and
communication are different skills that are developed in cooperative learning.

6. Discuss the components of Educative Process.

a. Teacher – Schools may have all the best facilities and resources but without good teachers it may not
possibly sustain itself. Good schools heavily depend on conscientious and committed teachers more than anyone or
anything else. For quality education to carry out its mission, it needs good teacher to guide students who will be
independent and interdependent enough to be future leaders of the country.

b. Learners- is one of the most valued elements of the educative process. Every teacher must remember that
the young learners of today will be our leaders in this shrinking global community. Hence there is a need to direct
these future leaders to function conscientiously and successfully in our diverse and multicultural world. The most
commendable way of doing this is to understand and value the uniqueness of learners in their view of the
world.Their learning styles and preferences for processing facts and information.

c. The Learning Environment- Every teacher is challenged to make her classroom a place for effective
teaching and learning. At the beginning of the school year, the teacher must already take a closer look of her own
classroom. The teacher should know how the classroom is structured, its provision for the students to obtain their
learning resources and the location of the room in relation to other school equipment and facilities..

7. Explain the following cognitive processes and level of knowledge matrix.

a. Factual- the basic elements students must know to be acquinted with a discipline or solve problems

b. Conceptual- the interrelationships among the basic elements within a larger structure that enable
them to to function together.

c. Procedural- how to do something, methods of inquiry and criteria for using skills, algorithms,

techniques and methods well.

d. Metacognitive- knowledge of cognition in general, as well as awareness and knowledge on one’s

own cognition.

8. Describe the different types of knowledge.

a. Professional- deep understanding of the teacher towards schooling , education, mastery of the
subject matter and teaching as a profession which includes awareness of his roles and responsibilities closely tied
with the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers.

b. Petadogical Knowledge- teacher’s general understanding of the concepts, theories and

principles for effective teaching regardless of the content area.

c. Pedagogical Content Knowledge- refers to the teacher’s capacity to teach the subject with
strong command of the content blended with unique presentation skill to successfully achieve the desired learning
outcomes. It takes a good teacher to make the content functional. It is the role of the teacher to let the student
perform out of the content.
