Introduction
The active mode of communication is needed for the development of any organization. It is the
communicative capacity of the manager who helps in executing the best strategies required for
the organizational growth. The strong skills of effective communication help in promoting the
warm relationship among the team members. The communication of any kind will be effective
with the active participation of the receiver and sender. In any big organization the effective
communication builds up a strong relation among the employees, and which brings a commercial
success. It is one of the sole components in the managerial skill to manage an organization. In an
organization co-ordination is required in a workplace for executing it in a stipulated time period.
For a splendid work culture in an organization it is necessary to bring proper communicative
skills among the team members. Through an effective communication it not only helps in
resolving differences but to build up a good relation among the co-workers. In this project
Unilever headquartered in London, is founded in the year 1930. It is one of the oldest FMCG
companies present all over the world.

Role of effective communication within management


In any organizational development the role of effective communication is very important. The
communication within the management shows the decision making skills of the organization. To
make the management functional the skills which are required within the effective
communication are

 Planning
 Organizing
 Leading
 Controlling

A leader in any business organization has the ability to manage everyone within the team with
the managerial skills (Marques and Dhiman,2017). To excel in the managerial skills it is required
to get proper communicative skills with the employees.

In this figure it is clearly showed that within the management it is required an active role of
effective communication to bring a coherence within the work(Certo,2018). It is also necessary
for the decision making and planning purposes to execute a strategy which is important for the
success of the organization.

It is an inextricable section of an organization. The better way of communication skills the better
will be the work culture for the employees. In some organization the mangers do not give an
importance of the communication in an organization which leads to difficulty among the
employees (Brink and Costigan,2015). It creates a communication gap among the team members
which will disturb the balance of an organization. It will also hinder the productivity in an
organization. Being a student of management studies I have done an internship with Amway in
their human resource department.

This internship helps me in developing my personal skills, as well as to work in a team. As an


intern they give me an opportunity to share my innovative strategies which can be implemented
to the organization. It also helps me to work in team and making strong relationships with my co-

worker. For achieving any goal it is always necessary for an individual to work with a team,
because within that structure it always makes an individual think about the team as a whole.
Similarly in Amway I get that opportunity to interact with people coming from different field,
working together. In any assigned project, I always work with my respective Team Leader with a
proper planning to execute the plan. It helps me to develop my good communication skills with
my fellow mates, and give a proper idea about how a particular job delivers to a client in a proper
timeframe.
Benefits of communicative skills in management

The communicative skills in an organization are based on various reasons. Active listening plays
an important role in such skill (Luthans and Doh, 2018). Through the mechanism of acute
listening the communicator communicates with the person. It is necessary to keep close attention
to what the other are saying and it helps to give proper solution to the problem. The verbal as
well as non-verbal communication builds a bridge of transmission of the message. Through
communication among the team members it brings clarity in the problems as well as a proper
planning of the work process. It helps the fellow team members always to work in union.

In this figure it is explained clearly that a research procedure is always required before the plan.
A proper plan has been designed to execute, and the necessary measures taken for the better
execution of the plan. Report is the written document of the plan which will be presented in front
of the organization and make them understand it properly.

Drawback of non communicative skill

If an organization does not follow the proper effective communicative skill among the member it
creates a gap among the members. The employees and the employer should maintain proper
communicative skills among themselves to bring coherence in their work culture. It is necessary
to bring a perfect plan structure to execute a plan. Due to the communication gap, it does not
bring a proper work culture. It also does not let the team members to develop a proper
interpersonal skill (Choquette et al., 2017). Without a proper effective communication, it will
disturb the infrastructure as well as commercial success of the organization. The employees are
the assets of an organization, and if an organization does not follow those communicative skills
in a proper managerial way it will not bring success to the organization. So it is the sole
responsibility of a team leader to make an effective communication approach to bring the best
outcome for the organization

Analyze the impact of different methods of communication within a business and
managerial context:
Nowadays Business companies use different methods of communication, which include both
online, and offline. As the offline, method is the traditional one that is used from the beginning
but the new online method, which includes teleconferencing and social media, is now trending in
this generation. Unilever UK is using both means of communication as the new one is receiving
lots of attention but the previous one is also exists and maintaining the communication smoothly
(Marzii 2015). Some different effective methods of communication and its impacts stated below:

Verbal Communication:

Verbal communication is the common means of communication, which is very productive.


While we are, speaking generally or giving response orally in a one to one conversation is
termed as Verbal communication. This communication also includes written or oral transmission
in the way of:

 Storytelling: At Unilever UK, storytelling is the fruitful means of transmission as it


helps in general and common explanation between the individuals. While working in this
organization I have seen this method is very effective in terms of verbal communication
as it relates with higher organizational work. The standard of stories is very important is
it has the ability to fix capital for the company.
 Crucial Conversations: As the process is same but this kind of conversation has more
value in terms of other because it involves in the possible high amount of capital involved
in the company. For example if any investor has high amount of stakes in the company
and asking for raising the amount then this kind of crucial discussion is needed.
 Written Communication: This kind of communication cannot be keep away in the
workplace. At Unilever UK, it is very common practice using by every employee which
consists paper and pen technique, direct message, e-mails etc. While Working in this big
organization I have seen this technique is useful and is been used by everyone to
communicate with each other as it is very suitable where some instructions and some
documents have to be sent. The most common written method of communication are
Email and Social Media (Oshima et al., 2016)

 Oral Communication: This is the second most used means of communication, which
can be either one on one, over the phone or teleconferencing. Its impact is very much
similar to written communication but unlike written communication it has both formal
and casual way of talking.
 Face to face Communication: This is the most preferred way of transmission as in this
way decision making process has been made between the two individuals or the higher
authority in the way of meetings based on its agenda. It is very beneficial for the
company in decision-making.

Nonverbal communication:

Nonverbal Communication is the way in which individuals used to send and receive
messages which does not consist a word. In simple is the wordless way of talking which can
also a part to express our own thoughts and feelings. Some common Nonverbal
Communications are:

 Physical Nonverbal Communication: Some common physical behaviors used for


communication are gestures, touch, wave, facial motions, eye movement etc. We all
need to keep in mind that the communication which we are using can convey message
to others and have some meaningful information otherwise it has no value and the
other person to whom we are sending the reactions cannot understand what we are
expressing to the other person. Research shows that out of all communication this
nonverbal way accounts for more than 55% of the communication that takes place. Its
impact is very much considerable in the context of getting a job offer and to use our
emotions to the managers. For example, when we are making a deal with the other
companies official it is important to see the confidence of the person through his
facial expression (Ballantyne et al., 2014)
 Paralanguage: This kind of communication is the way of talking like what is being
said instead of what actually has been said. It refers as the tone by which we are
communicating and talking. Here the personality of an individual is also important to
make this kind of communication. Some of them are aesthetic which include dancing
and painting, the appearance by which a person communicates, the space language

which refers as a social status and the symbol which is more important for status ego
building and religious work.
 Visual Communication: It is the third most important means of communication,
which is based on graphic design, colour, drawing, signs and other resources. It also
consists of chart and graphs which is generally a written method of communication.
Nowadays it impacts very much because the technology has made very advancement
in the process of doing visual interaction as it is easier that before. In this
communication, there is no correct way but still we should have awareness about
what is good in the situation (Arzelier et al., 2015)

Conclusion:
Business communication is very important in Business success and Business opportunity. For
Communication, it is very important to be effective in the transmission process. It builds
good relations with the higher authority. The other main thing is to look weakness in the
communication process and should rectify these weaknesses in the communication process.
We have to understand that communication is not just giving messages but also involves in a
relationship, which includes speaking, sending, listening and receiving information. So this
should have been done for a business success and getting solution by this.
