Activity: What is Bullying?

Students will learn how to identify what bullying is, the different types of bullying
to look out for, and what to do if they think that bullying is going on to
themselves or someone they know.

1. Students will get a better understanding of what bullying is and how to identify
it in or out of school.
2. Students will get educated on the different between direct and indirect
bullying
3. Students will learn what to do if they see bullying happening or if bullying is
happening to themselves.
4. Students will learn the consequences of bullying.

Materials:
Procedure:
The counselor will start the session by giving a pretest for the students about
bullying. The counselor will begin the lesson by asking the students what they
know about bullying, and if they could give any examples of bullying. The
counselor will then bring up a YouTube video about bullying and then ask the
students what are some important points that they go from the video. The
counselor will then explain the difference between direct and indirect bullying
and have the students come up with different forms of bullying and write them
on the board.
After that the counselor will explain resources the students can go to if they feel
like bullying is happening. A scenario will be given to the students where they
will work and groups and talk about what they would do in this situation. At the
end of the lesson the students will also e informed on the consequences of
bullying, with the no bullying policy at school. Ending with another bullying
video. The students will end the session by taking a posttest about bullying.

Plan for Evaluation: How will each of the following be collected?


The counselor will be giving the students a pre and posttest for the 9-12 grade
students. This will give the counselor information on what the students about
bullying and if they have ever experienced or seen bullying happen at the school.

Process Data: There will be around 80% of students who have been written
discipline referrals for bullying.

Perception Data: There will be a 20% increase of 9-12 graders who can identify
bullying in different scenarios.

Outcome Data: Students who attend the lesson should be more aware of
bullying, the different types to look out for, and what to do if they think bullying
is happening. This will decrease bullying scenarios that usually happen during the
week.
Follow Up: A survey could be given to the students to the students 2-3 weeks
later, to see if they feel bullying has increased or decreased since the last
session.
