The Spiritual Nutrition Mastery Program is the Culture of Life Institute‘s
most comprehensive training program for spiritual transformation. Now
featuring a brand-new state of the art on-line educational platform, our
unique, science-based academic curriculum supports a strong emphasis

Students of this two-year program are dedicated to the practice of its
base principles, which include the study of research, a focused thesis
project, an academic and experiential Modern Essene ministry
foundation, and core plant-source-only course work. A two-year

Mastery Program, providing regular access to Gabriel Cousens M.D.

 The thesis project is one of the most exciting things SNP students
will do to support devotion to Spiritual Nutrition. The thesis project
is an original work, which demonstrates an exploration and
development, and organization of materials relating to a certain
topic, problem, or creative endeavor. It expands world knowledge,

THE MODERN ESSENE PORTION COMPRISES about five months of
work toward graduation. Upon completion of this work, the student is
ordained as a Modern Essene Minister in the United States. The ministry
level of certification is only available in the Spiritual Nutrition Mastery
Program. Graduates will have received the knowledge in all aspects of
health, not only for themselves individually, but for sharing it with others
as a Spiritual Nutritional Counselor.
SOME MASTERY STUDENTS ARE INSPIRED to take their Essene
studies to a deeper level by enrolling in the Modern Essene Priesthood
Program which offers an opportunity to devote oneself to bringing peace
upon the planet. This individualized spiritual support comes from Rabbi
Gabriel Cousens, MD, Master Essene Teacher and Essene Priestess
Shanti GoldsCousens through living the Modern Essene Way guided by
the Six Foundations and the Sevenfold Path of Peace. Upon completion
of this program, students are ordained by Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, MD as
a Modern Essene Priest or Priestess in the order of Melchizedek. The
advanced level of priesthood requires additional on-campus work and
increased devotion. The application fee for the Priesthood is waived for

 Credits are honored by the University of Integrated Science California
(UISCA – www.UISCA.org) for a Master of Arts Degree in Vegan and Live
Food Nutrition. Students may apply for their diploma upon graduation. For
those who do not currently hold a bachelors degree, certification as a

THE MODERN LIVING ESSENE WAY
A PATH OF SERVICE: RECEIVING IN ORDER TO SHARE
The Essenes were prophetic, shamanic, mystical, spiritual warriors of the
desert. The Torah and the Kabbalistic teachings that evolved from the Torah
intimately guided their lives. One of the most famous Essenes was the liberated
being, Jesus. The Modern Essenes are a seed for the potential fulfillment of the
prophecy that the B‘nai Israel (Jewish) and B‘nai Noach (non-Jewish) will work as
the pious ones of all traditions to help usher in the Messianic times.
This Modern Essene Priesthood program emerged through Rabbi Gabriel
Cousens M.D., Master Essene Teacher in 1992 as the Essene Order of Light of
the School of Melchizadek. The Modern Living Essene Way is a general path that
resonates with the historical life and core truths of the ancient Essenes. It
connects to the particular spiritual life and core truths of the prophetic, kabbalistic
mystics of the desert, known as the Essenes. It is a complete path and lineage of
liberation that goes back 5,000 to 6,000 years, probably to the time of Adam, and
more specifically was activated by Enoch, the seventh generation from Adam. The
subtle essence of the Essene teachings can be found in the Seven Beatitudes of
Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.
The Modern Living Essene Way, with its foundation in the perennial liberation
wisdom teachings going back to Enoch, and perhaps even Adam, is not a religion.
One can live as a Modern Essene no matter what one's religious preference. The
Modern Essene Way is a way of liberation that goes beyond egocentric or
ethnocentric to a world and cosmic-centric view. The Modern Essenes represent a
universal archetypical consciousness that can be lived in any context and not
necessarily joined. It is grounded by ancient and basic principles that can guide us
to creating the Sevenfold Path of Peace in our lives, and on the living planet. If
enough people choose to live this way, we can create an ever-widening circle of
light and love among the cultures and religions of this world that will bring world
peace.
To call oneself a Modern Essene requires spiritual warrior activism and an
alignment with the core-essence lineage of the Essene Way as it has been lived
from the beginning of time, yet make it appropriate to our twenty-first-century lives.
The Modern Living Essene Way revelation is about inspiration; it is not about trying
to live exactly as we imagined they lived in the past, but about a basic alignment
with the Essene teachings. It is about inspiring ourselves and others to live in the
highest degree of peace and harmony within ourselves, others, animal and plant
life, the planetary ecology, and the will of God in the twenty-first century.

The distant learning portion includes intensive study and comprehensive
reading and writing. Priesthood students are also required to do extensive
study on the Living Torah (the Five Books of Moses), which includes
reading and studying the weekly Parshas. Through this extensive process,
students begin to build a foundational understanding of the depth and inner
essence of the Modern Essene Living Way from a liberation perspective.
Please note that ideologies presented in the readings are not the
foundation of this training program or of the Essene Order of Light.
Students are required to read these books so that they can gain an
understanding of the different interpretations present in the Modern Essene
movement. The understandings of the esoteric principles of the Modern
Living Essene Way are the foundation for the priesthood program and are
experienced in the required workshops held on-site at the Tree of Life
Rejuvenation Center.

Students enrolled in the two-year program are a part of the Culture of Life

 Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, M.D. and his wife, Shanti GoldsCousens, MA, lead
our Spiritual Fasting Retreat. A program that many of our guests return to over

Our Conscious Eating Intensives are the pinnacle workshop in the world of

Following the children of Avraham Avinu, Yitzach, Yacob, we should know that it is
a little known fact that many of the biblical prophets were astrologers. While this
ancient science has been largely abused and misrepresented over the centuries, it
stands that when presented in its accurate and appropriate context, astrology is one
of the greatest tools for understanding the movements of the Divine Light within the
world of form.
Now added as an exciting new workshop to the Essene Priesthood Program,
Shamanic Astrology teaches how the archetypal world translates through starlight
onto the earth plane manifesting as the phenomena of our collective consciousness
and the textures of our daily lives. The ―as above, so below‖ philosophy of the
school and its key concepts will be discussed, including the understanding that
Shamanic Astrology is not deterministic, predictive, or causal as the common

Shamanic Astrology is an evolving system sourced by Daniel Giamario in the early

“According to ancient Torah and oral tradition teachings, astrology originated in pre-
Adamic times. Oral tradition says that it was reactivated by Enosh, the grandson of Adam

course is not the Kabbalistic teaching, which is the planets, like the planet Earth, and the
stars have their own living energy as the spark of the Divine within them. The science of
angelology explains this as each heavenly body is ruled by a particular angel that acts as

 Molly received a B.A. from Middlebury College as a pre-med art major. After discovering the work of Gabriel Cousens,
M.D., nutritionist, spiritual leader, and world's leader in fasting and detoxification, she never looked back. She has
embraced Dr. Cousens‘ teachings along with other alternative modalities such as muscle testing, mudpack therapy, and
the comprehensive work of Dr. Bob Marshall of Premier Research Labs. With the combination of these studies, Molly
has been able to successfully offer her services as a Live Food Nutritional Counselor to others. In addition to client
consultations, Molly owns and operates the Glow Live Food Café in Ketchum, Idaho. Molly is currently working on
completing her Masters‘ thesis in the Spiritual Nutrition Mastery Program with the topic of Raw Vegan Pregnancy and

Mindy’s journey into conscious eating began in 1998 when her father was diagnosed with brain cancer. Observing the
harshness of the medications, she became aware of how food and nutrition ultimately affects the mind, body, and spirit.

In 2001 Mindy went to live and work at the Kushi Institute where she studied macrobiotics. There she served as a lead chef in the
kitchen and worked as a scribe in the counseling office. Mindy attended the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and graduated as a Holistic
Health Counselor. It was at IIN that she was introduced to live foods.

Mindy has worked as a private chef, counselor, and teacher, spreading the awareness of how food affects the mind, body and spirit for 5
years. After Mindy‘s second child was born, she felt led to study midwifery and assisted a midwife with homebirths in Rhode Island.
Mindy is a labor assistant and a childbirth educator, and is working toward her midwifery certification. Living in Patagonia, AZ with her
