Diversity in Health Care

Introduction

In the modern world, nurses are operating in an environment comprising of different

cultural perspectives which are important to be incorporated in the general practice. The

requirements of contemporary health care setting should in all manners incorporate various

principles which provide guidance to the patients and the professionals who are involved in the

entire practice and trends (Armada & Hubbard, 2010). In provided circumstances, all health

professionals have the mandate of paying comprehensive attention to different perceptions which

are as a result of changing the culture of the patients. Moreover, the role of nursing is to adhere

to issues which are as a result of diversity and social development among the growing number of

patients involved in the entire exercise (Dotson & Nuru-Jeter, 2012). Therefore, it is essential for

professionals to understand the diverse cultural needs of their patients in the provision of care

services.

By doing so, the rate of recovery among the patient will increase compared to current

statistics which are worrying and deteriorating in all perceptions. Therefore, the paper will

evaluate and discuss diversity in healthcare provision, the cultural diversity of the patients and

the importance of training and tolerance among nurses in the modern provision of health care.

Diversity in Health Care Provision and Changing Trend

The providers of health care in the current community ought to focus on various issues

which are developing to comprehensive change of health care services. In order to provide

essential services and products to the community, the professionals are supposed to learn

different mechanisms which attribute to service delivery among different facilities across the

world (Armada & Hubbard, 2010). By focusing on the diversity of the patients it would be

necessary for the personnel involved to understand the overall requirements of the patients they

encounter at all time.

To yield the best results which are widely accepted, the organizations which are involved

should effectively equip their manpower in order to reduce the instances of failing systems.

Moreover, the desirable course of actions should have the ability to incorporate the role of other

organizations in order to effectively communicate the changing pattern in the sector (Brach &

Fraserirector, 2000). To achieve this, most of the countries are considering methods to enhance

interactive training among the nurses and other caregivers who are involved at any particular

time. The approach will ease the manner of understanding differences within cultural systems.

Importance of Training and Tolerance among Nurses

Through understanding the contemporary issues which govern the healthcare sectors, the

nurses will be able to learn respective requirements. These factors in return will be of great

benefit to the nurses as they are working in a different environment and cultural issues (Spector,

2012). In such a way, nurses will be able to understand norms, cultural traditions and values

which are practiced among the patients in different parts of the world.

Training among the nurses will provide the ground through which nurses and other

medical practitioners are able to meet the expectations of the patient. Moreover, they will be able

to avoid offensive instances, actions or other forms inactions that may tend to arise during their

service delivery. However, evidence has provided that some of the occurrences are as a result of

ignorance among some nurses on the expectations of the patients when they are out to seek

medical attention.

Comprehensively, the environment to which nurses are subjected to reduces the situations

where they are bound to work on isolation since there are more community expectations which

are expected in their services.

Conclusion

Currently, different organizations and cooperation have embarked on providing essential

training to nurses in order to achieve the roles of cultural diversity. Further, mechanisms have

been implemented to eliminate the instances that would be out to lead to ignorance in the

practices. The contributing factors are attributed to the lack of culture, value and traditions know

how among the caregivers globally.
