Field Experience

Program: K/Elem Field Experience: 1

Date: December 6, 2018

Instructions: To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, Student Teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of their First,
Second and Third Field Experience with input from their Co-operating Teacher and/or Field Supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each Field
Experience’s evaluation, links each Field Experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement and forms an agenda for discussion between
the Student Teacher, Co-operating Teacher and Field Supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent Field Experience. For Field Experience 1 only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

I have shown ‘Thorough’ to ‘Advanced’ development in the following Professional Competencies developed during this Field Experience:
- PC 9, 11, and 12.

- I made a conscious effort to engage with staff, students, and support workers to help them in any way I could. Whether this be during class or prep time,
at recess, during PED days, etc.

- I worked very hard on taking notes in my professional journal, as this allowed me to reflect afterwards on various aspects of teaching. I also asked lots
of questions and accepted all forms of feedback.

- I always showed up on time, professionally dressed, and ready to help in any way needed.

I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this Field Experience:
- PC 1, 2, and 8.

- I want to improve various aspects of my teaching abilities. I want to do this to be able to make meaningful differences in the lives of students.

- I want to continue to develop my written and oral language skills. I want to do this so I can be clear and concise during my instruction.

- I want to become more comfortable with using ICT's in the classroom. I want to do this so I can make good use of various ICT's in my future classrooms.

I will make use of the following strategies for improvement:


- I will continue to read the QEP, I will ask lots of questions to my ct's, I will volunteer or work with children in various capacities.

- I will continue to observe, ask questions, and be involved in my future placements.

- I will seek advice from current and former teachers on all aspects of teaching, as I am still beginning.

- I will remain in contact with my ct in regard to future placements, and seeking advice.

- I will continue to develop my written and oral communication skills. In both formal/academic, and non-formal settings. I will also take a language or
communications course.

- I will continue to be invested in my academics.

- I will continue to look out for opportunities to work with youth in various capacities.

- I will become familiar with various forms of educational resources that can be used with ICT's. For example, I will explore educational programs that can
be used with a computer or smart board.

The Action Plan is to be discussed with your Field Supervisor and Co-operating Teacher at the start of the subsequent Field Experience.
