ESCOLA SECUNDÁRIA FRANCISCO DE HOLANDA

Our school exists since 1885 and is located in the centre of the city of Guimarães. It has
currently 136 teachers, 1250 students attending Science and Humanities Courses (Visual
Arts, Science and Technology, Socioeconomics, Languages and Humanities), 432 students
attending vocational courses (Electronics, Automation and Computers, Mechatronics,
Marketing, Design, Management and Programming of Computer Systems, Geriatrics) and
about 100 students in Adult Education Courses that function at night, from 7.00 pm to
11.00 pm.
Our school had reconstruction and improvement work done to it a few years ago and has
laboratories for the different courses, computer rooms and traditional classrooms.

A nossa escola existe desde 1885 e está localizada no centro da cidade de Guimarães.
Atualmente, tem 136 professores, 1250 alunos frequentam os cursos científico-humanísticos
(Artes Visuais, Ciências e Tecnologias, Ciências Socioeconómicas, Línguas e Humanidades),
432 frequentam os cursos profissionais (Técnico de Eletrónica, Automação e Computadores,
Técnico de Mecatrónica, Técnico de Marketing, Técnico de Design, Técnico de Gestão e
Programação de Sistemas Informáticos, Técnico de Geriatria) e cerca de 100 os cursos de
adultos, que têm lugar no horário noturno, das 19:00h às 23:00h.
A nossa escola sofreu obras de requalificação e tem laboratórios para os diferentes cursos,
salas de informática, salas tradicionais de aula.

The library is considered an important space in the school. Students go there to study, do
group work, use the computers, get tutoring from teachers when they have difficulties or
they simply go there to read the newspaper and talk to colleagues in the designated area.

A biblioteca ocupa um espaço importante na escola. Aí os alunos deslocam-se para estudar,

trabalhar em grupo, fazer trabalhos no computador, ter apoio dos professores quando têm
dúvidas ou, simplesmente, vão para ler o jornal e conversar com os colegas no espaço para o
efeito.
The students have a social room where they also spend their leisure time.
Os alunos têm uma sala de convívio onde passam também o seu tempo de lazer.

We also have a museum that perpetuates the history of the school.

Também temos um museu, que perpetua a história da escola.

The secondary school students involved in this project are special needs students
integrated in vocational courses. The subjects of Portuguese, English, Maths and ICT are
given by teachers involved in this project (some of them). These students also receive
tutoring from a teacher of Inclusive Education. Besides these subjects, they attend some
regular subjects with the classes they are integrated in.

Os alunos envolvidos neste projeto, e que frequentam a escola secundária, estão integrados
em turmas do ensino profissional. As aulas de Português, Inglês, Matemática e Tecnologias
da Informação e Comunicação são dadas pelos professores envolvidos neste projeto (parte
deles). São também acompanhados por uma professora da Educação Inclusiva. Para além
disso, frequentam algumas disciplinas com as turmas de que fazem parte.
