MANTRAS
To read/say Mantras:
To read mantra has it own methods and there are a few of them: Padma,
Samadhi, and Vajra. In Sathya Candali, to read mantras, we use Vajra method, i.e. closing
the mouth and making no voices while the tongue moves when saying the mantras.
Before explaining the suitable time to read mantras, it’s better for me to explain
The breath flows through right nostril will make the body hot; on the other hand,
that flows through left nostril will make the body cool. It has something to do with
breathing, one nostril is dominant than other which means that more breathe will be
through that nostril and the associated Nadi will be more active. For example, if the right
nostril is dominant, Pingala Nadi will be more active and the body will be hot, which is
called Pingala Breathing. On the other hand, if the left nostril is dominant, Ida Nadi will
be more active and the body will be cool, which is called Ida Breathing.
Every 2 hours, someone experiences a switchover from Ida to Pingala and vise
versa. If a day starts (around 6 a.m.), and someone breaths stronger through left nostril
(Ida Breathing); it is called Ida Day. And if a day starts with right nostril, it is called
Pingala Day.
In the new moon, a woman starts her day (around 6 a.m.) with Pingala Breathing
until 7:50 a.m. For 10 minutes until 8 a.m., there is a switchover from Pingala to Ida.
Right at 9 a.m., Ida Breathing is taking over until 9:50 a.m. and there’s a switchover from
MANTRAS
Ida to Pingala for 10 minutes. The cycle will then continue. Pingala Breathing for a
woman will end in the second day after new moon. In the third day, a woman starts her
day (around 6 a.m.) with Ida Breathing until 7:50 a.m. For 10 minutes until 8 a.m., there
is a switchover from Ida to Pingala. Right at 9 a.m., Pingala Breathing is taking over until
9:50 a.m. and there’s a switchover from Pingala to Ida for 10 minutes. The cycle will then
The same goes to a man with the contrary cycle. When a woman breaths with Ida
breathing dominantly, a man will experience Pingala breathing. It is simply because the
negative and positive pole in a woman is the opposite of those in a man. In a woman, the
positive pole is in her right side and the negative pole is in her left side. In a man, the
positive pole is in his left side and the negative pole is in his right side, so that when a
man faces a woman, the negative and positive pole will be in the same side.
Note :

P = Pingala

Brain and mind are connected with breath. During Ida breathing, right brain will
be more dominant and during Pingala breathing, left brain will be more dominant.
hiking, even sex activity. It also includes any activities using left brain, logic, etc.
Ida breathing is the suitable time to read, study, take a pray and read mantras, and
Beside Ida and Pingala breathing, during the switchover from Pingala to Ida or
the opposite, breathing can be switched from Ida to Pingala or both breathing at the
same time. This switchover is called Sandhi, which is Sushumna breathing. It happens
naturally after midnight (around 2 a.m.). Sushumna breathing is the most suitable time to
MANTRAS
To summarize, during Ida breathing is the best time to read mantras because the
result will be maximum and efficient. But, we can also read mantras during Pingala
breathing by using left nostril (Ida breathing), i.e. tied the right arm strongly.
