Greeting students and put a song to engage students before starting.


Show students the story and tell them that we are going to listen to a story today.
Show students the cover page and ask them; what can you see?

Introduce the story; this is Handa and she has a surprise, shall we listen to the story to see what is
her surprise?
Model the story on the whiteboard while reading it for the students by using cut outs of the story
elements.
While reading the story, stop to ask students questions; what did the monkey take??
What did the... Take? To let students say the names of the fruits and practice them.
Show children the animals and ask them; which fruit did this animal take? To let students name the
fruits by choosing the fruit from the fruit basket or the flashcards.
Assessment: asking questions.

Guided Experience (group working with the teacher)

Play bingo game with students


Give students picture cards of the fruits
Tell them that we are going to play a game; the teacher says the name of the fruit and they need to
show the teacher the card. The teacher asks each child at a time.
Assessment; the teacher will assess if students can identify the fruit when she mentions the name
and they show her.
Time: 25-30 min

After finishing, the teacher will play bingo with the students; she gives them the bingo worksheet.
She mentions the fruit name and the students need to cross it out until they finish.

Assessment; the teacher will assess if students can identify which fruit is she mentioning and they
would cross it out.
The teacher would record on a checklist on a scale from 1-3
