MIB.11: proper instrument basics and playing procedure

How did the teacher accomplish her/his objectives?

• Sat with the class and showed them the rhythms aurally and then with notation
• Call and response signing in solfege

How did the teacher assess individual students’ understanding?

• During one of the games, students had to sing alone


• She could ask random students to sing something for her
• She would go around and talk to people one on one if she thought they could use some
help

• She knows everyone’s name

• Especially on a Friday, they were pretty energetic


• Some students would talk out of turn as a distraction to others.

• Have all students sit or all students stand


• Make sure everyone knows what’s going to be done at the beginning of class.

• Try to stay focused on what is going on in the present


• Not get so carried away on any tangents
