What Are We Learning?

Math
This week we continued to practice
our division strategies in addition to
practicing division word problems.
Students are primarily using the Box
Method and Digit by Digit Methods
(traditional long division) to divide.
Friday we began our test.
ELA
This week students learned to
identify cause and effects in
informational texts. We looked for
key words like: because, so, and
cause. Students also continued
planning and drafting their news
articles.
Social Studies
We learned about natural
resources, and began learning
about different aspects of
agriculture. We learned about the
soil, climate, crops, and livestock in
Michigan.

Spelling Bee – Tuesday, December 18 @ 4:00pm

Assembly, Grades 6-8 – Friday, December 21 @8:45am

NO SCHOOL – December 24-January 4

School Resumes – Monday, January 7

MS Sports: Boys Bowling and Girls Volleyball – Boys Bowling and

Girls Volleyball begin Monday, January 7 for students in grades 6-
8. Boys Bowling – Tryouts on Monday, January 7 and Wednesday,
January 9 from 3:45-5:15pm. Tryouts, practices and matches are at
Westgate Lanes on Alpine. Girls Volleyball – Tryouts will be
Monday-Wednesday (January 7-9) from 3:30-5:00pm. Players must
also be passing every class, have no missing assignments in order
to tryout and a current physical. Remember all athletes must
have a physical on file dated after 4/15/2018 and it must be on
the required sports physical form. Please contact Mrs. Moshauer if
you are in need of a form or more details regarding physicals

Holiday Shoppe: A HUGE thank you to all of our parents,

grandparents, elves, and helpers this week. Unbelievable
shopping and fun in our gym. Please check out the shopping
scenes on our facebook page to get a small idea of what kind of
work went into turning our gym onto a winter wonderland of
shopping options. Amazing community event. Thank you again
to all who participated and helped.
