Overall aim and context of the lesson:

- Students will be able to round whole numbers to the nearest ten and hundred
using a number line as a tool.

- Students will be able to round whole numbers to the nearest thousand and ten
thousand by using the rounding cluster strategy.

Describe (D):
This lesson is for students to have clear understanding about how to round numbers to large
whole numbers. The lesson take place because this is the third lesson about this topic and as I
followed their book curriculum and follow the examples on it. As a result, students gain the
concept very well because we moved step by step first they round to small value and now they
are rounding to nearest large values. I’m trying to achieve in the lesson students understanding
about the rounding and see if they still need some practice to achieve their knowledge. In the
beginning, the teacher gave students a short quiz about the previous lesson. Second, I reviewed
the steps of rounding number with the students. Third, I practiced some examples on the board
about who to round numbers to nearest values. Then, learners open their books and solve some
problems. Then, I gave each learner an ice cream shape and the ice cream have different scoops
and students should round the number to nearest (ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred
thousand). Finally, I gave each students a small white board and I write one number and say for
the students the instructions in the board and students should round the number and write it in the
white board.
Analyze (A):
In this lesson students respond positively and I think they response that way because we have
been practicing this topic more than two classes and they remember the step of rounding numbers
carefully. I active student’s prior knowledge by doing a short quiz which contain the previous
concept and the new concept and that help me to discover who are the students what students can
do by them self and what they need to improve. I engage students by using the activity about the
ice cream scoops and they were very engaged and they take they ice cream to keep it with them.
Appraise (A)
Leaners have good experience because they practice that topic more than once and the activities
were attracting their attention to find out the solutions. According to the assessment part I figure
out that students achieve the learning objectives because they were able to answer all the
questions correctly and that meet my teaching goals.

Transform (T):
For further implementation, I think it would be better if students do not depend on their curriculum book
because the teacher doesn’t have a lot of time to make other engaging activities. For my next lesson, I will
do more group activity work because students like to take the role of the teacher and they want to teach
others.
