WEAR PLATES ARE PRODUCED IN A SINGLE AND HARD
WELDING LAYER, AVAILABLE IN VARIOUS THICKNESS,
COMBINATION AND OVERLAY ALLOYS.
With excellent resistance to abrasion and impact (“I” Plate), the plates coated with hard
welding (wear plate) are used in various dimensions within the standard of each client
or even provided in standard plates with the following dimensions: 1,500 x 3,000 mm
or 2,200 x 3,000 mm.

The options to be used are extensive, especially for a variety of transfer chutes, collection
gutters, storage boxes, blades of air blowers, equipment boxes and lower liners of
scrapers.

THE SOLUTION AGAINST WEAR, IDEAL TO increase

The WEARPLATE offered by RAILROAD is made of chrome and welded
complex carbides in a structural base plate of carbon steel (substrate). This
plate may also be used in different kinds of steel such as heat-resistant,
stainless steel, among others.
Through a unique technique, the RAILROAD WEARPLATE is produced by an
equipment developed over our long experience in robotic welding. Thus, the
microstructure is a mixture of high hexagonal volume of chromium complex
carbides in an austenitic and martensitic die very hard.
Deposited from openArc welding process (open loop), the coatings of the
RAILROAD WEARPLATE are notable for a wide and smooth granular form.
Presenting hardness of 63 rc, this product have well defined pattern for
resistance to cracks and fissures.
Importantly, these cracks and visible fissures on the surface do not reduce the
coatings performance. After all, they focus only in the overlay layer and do not
advance toward the base metal.

Based on several wear mechanisms, RAILROAD selects the most suitable
materials for coating using Wear Plate. Thus, the surfaces of the equipment
have one or more of the following constructive characteristics: good

CERAMICS IN tempered ALUMINA
After years of research development, and technological partnerships, RAILROAD added
zirconia to its ceramics liners, making its products even more resistant to wear. One of
the properties of zirconia is to have a higher tensile strength compared to conventional
alumina ceramic. With hardness above most white cast iron (ASTM A 532 G III or IV),
it offers high resistance to abrasion, erosion in wet or dry environment, in addition to
presenting anti-corrosion properties.

CERAMICS IN HIGH ALUMINA
Used worldwide, RAILROAD provides plates, pads, high-quality and
ceramic blocks by applying the process of isometric pressing for production
of their molds. Then we perform the calcination process, which provides the
mechanical strength and hardness.
Precise dimensions, high density, superior wear resistance, heat and corrosion
resistance are among the properties of our ceramic coatings.

Rockwell Hardness = 88HRC, superior to most of the chromium steels
abrasion resistant.

CERAMIC rubber plates
The RAILROAD ceramic plates are ideal for applications in different industries,
especially iron mining, gold mining and cement companies. The use of these
plates is suitable for solving different kind of problems, such as severe wear
due to abrasion, erosion, cavitation and whenever the abrasive particle is thin
or have small diameter.
Manufactured by special processes, high alumina ceramic plates are combined
with natural rubber. This differential enhances the resistance of the plates and
also greatly decreases the noise during transport.

Good rubber insulation from vibration increases the resistance force of the

HARD COATING COMPOUND (WEARBOND)
RAILROAD hard coating compound is a cementing material from water and an adhesive at
the base, filled with wear resistant refractory elements. Use of this product is very suitable
to coat equipment, repair of large areas affected by high temperatures and to avoid severe
abrasion and erosion at temperatures up to 1200 °C

BENEFITS:
• Resistance to high temperature
It features maximum resistance to abrasion and erosion in dry medium and temperatures
up to 1,200 °C.
• Resistant to thermal shock
Temperature changes do not cause the disruption of the hard compound coating.

PARTICULATE COMPOUND FOR REPAIR

The RAILROAD Wearbond repair compound is a type of two-component


epoxy resin (component A and component B), which is homogeneously
mixed producing an exothermic reaction and immediately begins to cure. This

POLYPROPYLENE ALLOY
A mixture of various polymers after being processed by mixers. The alloy retains
characteristics and properties such as good conformation, good corrosion resistance, great
hardness and toughness of the metal (carbon steel). For this reason, it replaces the steel in
severe applications.

Benefits:
• Abrasion resistance
Ten times better than carbon steel (ASTM A 36).
• Low coefficient of friction
The low coefficient of friction and self-lubricating contributes for reduction of energy
consumption in case of conveyor belts. Furthermore, the same proportion prevents the
adherence of materials, even clayey materials, in its very smooth surface. Coefficient of
friction (rectified steel - p = 0.05 N/mm², v = 0.6 m/s) = 0.3.
