Summary of:

POWER HARVESTING BY USING HUMAN FOOT STEP

In this projects we can see how using the mechanical energy, that we produce

when walking, could be transformed into an electrical signal that can be stored

and used.

This projects focusses on one such advanced method of energy harvesting using

piezoelectric material, which converts electrical energy to mechanical energy and

vice-versa, It means that if we are applying a mechanical stress to an object, by

pressing on it or bending it, it will output an electrical signal or a voltage, so we

could say that there is a direct relationship between the force applied on the

material and the voltage produced. This voltaje signal can then be stored and

used to power other devices. Basically, piezoelectric power generation can

provide a convenient alternative to traditional power sources.

Several methods have been proposed for the harvesting of energy from the use

of piezoelectric materials, of which two are highlighted and mentioned below :

First, POWER FLOOR GENERATING ENERGY BY WALKING USING SERIES

PARALLEL COMBINATION in this method the electrical vitality created by

peoples weight is caught by floor sensors and then changed over to an

electricalcharge by piezo-electric transducer. These sensors are put in such way

that it creates a great yield voltage.

The second method is ENERGY HARVESTERS IN SHOES (MOONIE

HARVESTERS) this process involve, the pressure exerted while a person is

walking is converted into electrical energy by embedding a moonieharvester ; a

metal ceramic transducer which allows the storage of energy.

In my opinion this type of energy has several advantages such as: provide a

cleaner way of powering lighting systems and other equipment. In the same way,

its implementation could be lower in proces in comparison with courrent methods,

given that piezoelectric materials do not have high production costs. However, it

is noteworthy that even the fact that this is a clean and optimal type of energy,

the projects carried out were always made on a small scale, so that the production

of energy is not significant to meet the basic needs of a community.

From the above, three questions have raised, what is the limit of these materials?

Is it possible to use them on a large scale and to supply large amounts of energy?

why limit these methods to small-scale models?
