TRANSCRIPT

Interviewer- Please elaborate your work profile?

Interviewee- I am a technical consultant and project manager in Wipro and before this I was
handling projects in my previous company. I have been working in Wipro for the past 3 years.

Interviewer- What problems have you faced in switching jobs from one company to another and
how is the employee relationship different from the previous company?
Interviewee- As far as switching is concerned, I dint face any difficulties, it was easy going. The
previous company tried to retain me but you know for higher salaries you move on, right. In
terms of employee relations with seniors and employees in other companies apart from Wipro,
they were good with everyone. But in Wipro, some politics is going on. This is a part of job
everywhere I think. But relations are cordial with everyone. Managers are rather cooperating and
understanding. So, as such there are no issues. They understand work life and personal work.
They give you freedom for leaves and all.

Interviewer- Since you are heading project teams, guiding the interns and simultaneously
reporting to your boss, what are the work relations with your boss and employees, how do you
define it and what is the major difference in both the roles you play?
Interviewee- If I talk about my boss, the manager, he should not only be a project manager but
also a people manager which is lacking over here, he just sees himself. The understanding is
lacking like it was in previous companies.
With my juniors, whatever difficulties I face, I try to solve it so that they don’t face it in the
future. But again there are some fallacies in the system. Sometimes I go beyond policies and take
approval from my seniors or their seniors. That should be the way everyone should work. It is
not happening actually in this company specially.

Interviewer- Tell me about a particular work related setbacks that you have faced and how did
you deal with it?
Interviewee- The biggest challenge I faced was on my first assignment, when I joined Wipro. I
moved to Goa for it. It was in a plant for integrated trust management system (ITMR). So, I dint
have any knowledge of it. I was told that you will have to look after your domain only but what
happened was that my prject manager came and he was not aware of anything. That was a
challenge. But my project manager was supportive. I was supposed to handle customer, vendor
and internal team also. So, it was bit difficult. There were issues with material, timeline, scope of
understanding with vendors, meeting customer expectations. I was there for almost 1 year. So, it
was very challenging, but somehow we came out of it. The project was completed.

Interviewer- What was your experience when you first joined the corporate world and how did
that perception change over time? How do these changes reflect in your personality?
Interviewee- Starting my career, I joined a small company, so there were many limitations and
broad view was not there. After working for 6 years there, I shifted to a MNC. It was completely
a different experience. We had the freedom to work, you are alone for the whole region and you
don’t have to report, so there was a lot of freedom. There was freedom in terms of personal and
professional life. You are free to give ideas and handle customers your way. You are free to meet
them. We are getting freedom to take an independent call. Its totally my call. Working in MNC
has helped me to interact with so many people and customers. It helps create an image of myself
globally. I was able to face challenges. So customers of MNC are usually MNC. So, it is a
different experience. There is so much to learn. You make mistakes, still you get to learn a lot.
Today, I feel I am mature enough to handle any type of customers. Customer interaction, the
level of interaction and everything is different.

Interviewer- What was your biggest success in your career till now?
Interviewee- There was a data center which I was building which you must have heard about a
company Nvidia. So, I was deputed in Pune for two years. There we got an opportunity to build a
data center for Nvidia. There was so much of challenge. The customer was changing the designs
and the expectations were very high. For me, it was first time working for MNC. It was a huge
project of about 40 crores. So, that was a big challenge. I made some mistakes. There were huge
alterations that happened. We were continuously meeting the customer. After many meetings, we
were able to build the data center. I was being transferred in between but the customer demanded
that I should stay here. When you need to design, the customer is not able to clearly define his
expectations. But with time the customer explains his idea. Working for a customer and getting
appreciation is the best part. I went to IDFC bank for a data related project, So I met him, He was
able to recognize him as I met him earlier at Axis Bank project. But I was not able to work for
his project as it was in Mumbai whereas I was in Ahmedabad. So, the management did’nt allow
me to work there. These are small successes in my career.

Interviewer- Many times your fellow employees are not contributing in the project, so how do
you handle that situation?
Interviewee- In my 14 years of life, I have never said to my boss that why you are giving me
this much amount of appraisal or why you are not giving me appraisal. I only think that whatever
I get I accept it. But when I switch companies for better packages, my boss starts negotiating for
better appraisals to retain me. So, I am honest with them that if you would have taken care earlier
this situation wouldn’t have come. Here, also the situation is like this. My manager thinks the
employees who are near to them get benefits. My nature is very upfront. I tell them on the face
how feel about them. It sometimes backfires. I Observe things silently and then react
accordingly. I don’t beg for appraisals. If I deserve it then They give me appraisals. Let them do
their part, I will do my part. I try to give my best output.

Interviewer- What type of personality trait describes you in Wipro?

Interviewee- I am introvert in terms of personal life. I don’t share it with anyone. I’m not
comfortable in Wipro that way. In terms, you can say I’m introvert in this company.

Interviewer- What challenges have you faced as an introvert?

Interviewee- As such I have not faced any problems. I am able to convey my ideas clearly with
people. However, when I apply for holidays, I don’t like sharing my personal life. But, I have to
tell them anyways. This is the hardship I face.

Interviewer- Have you faced cultural or geographical barriers while working for the company?
Interviewee- In Pune, there were all Maharashtrians both customers and suppliers. My
colleagues and bosses all were Marathis. They started talking in Marathi. This was an issue. I had
to ask them to speak in English or Hindi.

Interviewer- Thanks for your precious time.

Interviewee- I hope this interview will be helpful to you and I hope I was able to answer all you
question properly.
Interviewer- Yes Sir, it was really helpful. Thanks once again for the interview.
