device. A polar projection of the celestial
sphere and the stars on a plane with
adjustable circles showing celestial
phenomena for any given time.

So on this activity, you will use a


planisphere, and I’ll be giving planispheres
to each group.

A. How to use the Planisphere


1. Swivel the star map around to line up the date and the time to the day you are
outside.
2. Identify where North and South are on the planisphere. Then you need a
compass to identify where North /South is outside.
3. Stand facing South, looking down at the planisphere so that North is at the top
facing away from you.
4. Lift the Planisphere above your head and the white disk area will show you
the stars in the night sky.
5. Use your planisphere as a guide to find the brightest stars.

B. Use the Table to list down the most observed constellations during your
observation.
