How to test swash plate:

Condition of testing.

- Engine to be stopped.
- Hydraulic pressure available on engine. (start-up pump’s running)
- All Ok Test takes between 20-30 Minutes.
Go to MOP A or B

Click on Access and change access level to Chief level. Password “BADOIT”.
Open “System View I/O Test” under Maintenance menu.

Change be MPC (ACUx) to test mode, by clicking on test on the screen.

When MPC(ACUx)is restarted in test mode, click on channel No. 48

Click on logic level on MOP screen.

Change the logic level to “on” to enable prop. amplifier

Open Channel No. 70 and apply the value to 0.0 V. By using the arrows. 0.0V is always full ahead.
Open Channel No. 30 and No. 34 , and write down the Electrical Value and Process value
- Channel No. 30 Electrical value_________________mA (Value shall be between 3.5 to 20.5 mA)
-Channel No. 30 Process value _________________% (expected value app. 100%)
- Channel No. 34 Electrical value_________________mA (Value shall be between 3.5 to 20.5 mA)
- Channel No. 34 Process value _________________% (expected value app. 100%)

Note the feedback signals need to be steady and within limits.

If the feedback signal not is steady you go down and observe the mechanical indicator.

Is the mechanical indicator steady at a high value

close to 15° in one direction!

If this is deviating too- then we have a ctrl failure.

Go to 1.
If the mechanical feedback is steady, but the
electrical swash plate feedback signal varies, then
we have a feedback failure. Go to 2.
If the proportional feedback signal varies. Go to 3

1. MPC ACUx and measure output voltage ch70 terminal B, C. The measurement should be 0.0V.- If
not OK; change MPC. If OK continuous to measure the Amplifier terminal plug with 4 connectors.
Terminal A,B= 0.0V (If not app. 0.0V change FIVA Amp)and Terminal C,D should be steady 24V(If
not OK, check cabling from J9 (MPC) to J90 (amplifier)).
2. If swash plate feedback ch 34 is unstable. Loosen below plug with swash plate feedback- Open up
the plug too (remove the screw) and check that the wires are firm connected. Check the cabling at
the Swash plate feedback amplifier and check cabling J34. OK ?
The plug is just behind protecting metal

It’s a normal DIN plug.

3. If Prop. valve ch 30 is unstable. Loosen below plug with Prop valve feedback too (remove the
screw) and check that the wires are correct connected. Check the cabling at the prop valve
feedback amplifier and check cabling to J30. OK ?

The plug is outer plug at the prop. Valve.

Open Channel No. 70 and change the value to 2.6 V. By using the arrows
Open Channel No. 30 and No. 34 , and write down the Electrical Value and Process value
- Channel No. 30 Electrical value_________________mA (Value shall be between 3.5 to 20.5 mA)
-Channel No. 30 Process value _________________% (expected value app. -100%)
- Channel No. 34 Electrical value_________________mA (Value shall be between 3.5 to 20.5 mA)
- Channel No. 34 Process value _________________% (expected value app. -100%)

Note the feedback signals need to be steady and within limits.

If the feedback signal not is steady you go down and observe the mechanical indicator.

Is the mechanical indicator steady at a high value

close to 15° in the opposite direction- Astern!

If this is deviating too- then we have a ctrl failure.

Go to 1.
If the mechanical feedback is steady, but the
electrical feedback varies then we have a feedback
failure. Go to 2.

1. MPC ACUx and measure output voltage ch70 terminal B, C. The measurement should be 2.6V.- If
not OK; change MPC. Amplifier: Terminal A,B= App.7.5V (If not app. 7.5V change Prop. Amp(If more
than 20V there is no or bad connection to Prop. valve)and Terminal C,D should be steady 24V(If not
OK, check cabling from J9 (MPC) to J90 (amplifier)).
Loosen ctrl plug on the proportional valve:

When you remove the plug. The pump shall move

100% (ahead), when remounted the pump returns
to -100% (astern). Is it OK?

If not check the internal connectors – Remove

screw and open up the marked plug.

2. If one or both feedback signals are unstable. And all connectors are checked and feedback signals
within limits. Suggest you exchange MPC with good working MPC- Other ACU?. If the problem
moves with the MPC- The problem is MPC ch.30 or ch.34 . If you have limited time change MPC
with spare. Observe- OK?

Change the MPC (ACUx) back to Normal. MPC will restart in normal mode
