Knowledge of Building Laws and Codes

Introduction

Communication skills refer to the ability to convey a message to others.

Communication skills go beyond talking or writing, it involves the ability to ensure
what is being conveyed is understood by the recipient (Barker, 2013). The different
types of communication skills are verbal communication, nonverbal cues and visual
communication. Verbal communication skills refer to the ability to use spoken
words and sounds to express one’s message and feelings. The requirements for
verbal communication are vast. Being clear, confident, using easily understandable
words and thinking before talking are some of the practical skills of verbal
communication.

Nonverbal communication involves the use of gestures and signs to communicate

with others. Nonverbal communication varies the world over with each country
having a unique set of nonverbal communication lines which differ in meaning from
other nations. Nonverbal communication can be divided into; facial expressions,
paralinguistic, body language and posture, proxemics, haptics, and appearance. The
ability to send the right and intended message through nonverbal communication is
as important as the ability to decode such communication. Nonverbal
communication can be used to reinforce verbal communication. Visual
communication is using of images and pictures or physical objects to pass messages.
Visual communication plays an important role in our day to day communication as
human beings best understand through images. Visual communication involves
signs, typography, graphic design, films, and statues among others. Visual
communication can be used by people who can speak and hear as well as those that
lack these two abilities.

Content

The basic communication skills that were taught were writing, reading, speaking,
listening and nonverbal communication skills. Under the writing and reading I gave
some pointers. In order to develop a fruitful reading culture, the trainee learned that
reading for fun is a great starting point. Reading for fun opens interest to reading for
a long time and develops the ability to focus on what we read. The idea is to start
with subjects that interest us.

The trainee read about topics and she found interesting and found it was more fun
than reading about things that did not concern the trainee and were able to read
longer without distracting attention. Help her endure long hours of reading without
boredom. After reading topics that interest someone, the next step usually involves
reading about less interesting topics, but they are important to our learning or
academics. It is recommended to start short passages and then to dilute into longer
and more complex materials. Learning how to scratch and scan was also very
insightful. The apprentice applied here in his first project Villas VIPs were reading
and looking for designs to help him inspired by his own design.

The trainee learns that skimming refers to reading in order to get a general idea of a
piece of writing while the scan is going through a writing job looking for something
specific. The two came at hand when it came to reading skills quickly and
effectively. The importance of taking notes during reading was emphasized. Notes
act as quick reminders of what we read and can be used for quick review. The
trainee has written important notes from the supervisor to change the design or add
new things to the three-dimensional design. Under the writing of some writing
methods and the possibility of their application was highlighted. she learned a
method of rework without losing the initial message. To rephrase the phrase
correctly, the apprentice also learned to use the quote always to avoid stealing the
ideas of others.

The skill of taking notes became more logical when reading to rework. Writing was
taught in an easy-to-understand language. In order to do this, she learned the
importance of using correct spelling and grammar.

As you write, it is important to let thoughts flow in a sequential way to make sense.
Understanding the purpose and purpose of writing the trainees was also very useful.
When writing for academic purposes, it is important to use a formal language and a
more academic language than writing for fun or friends. The apprentice understood
the need to avoid unnecessary wording when writing either formally or informally.

i
This skill has been applied to all messages sent to supervisors during the training
period. The use of video and conversations was in-depth in the skills of speaking
and listening.

Understanding the purpose of her speech is the first step to being an effective
speaker. If speaking for persuasion, it is recommended to use emotional words and
disguised rules as opposed to speaking in order to inform (Barker, 2013).

Knowing that conversation can be interactive, partial, interactive or non-interactive

was very useful because it helped me to understand the different skills of speaking.
After studying the video, the trainee was able to speak and present the PowerPoint
without tension and without mistakes. When engaging in one speaking one, the
ability to quickly organize ideas and analyze the situation in which one is very
effective. Using the appropriate sound tone plays a very important role in how we
receive and decrypt our message from recipients. In cases one would speak formally
and be prepared before speech is mandatory. During the sudden or unexpected
questions, she was able to organize her ideas and respond professionally.

The knowledge of the audience you speak enables them to choose an approach that
suits the trainees in order to attract and retain their attention. Maximizing interaction
at the audience level makes them more enjoyable and memorable. The apprentice
added some stories or news of the design to break boredom or drowsiness.

The trainee learns to involve a Republican by asking questions and opinions about
different ideas. By allowing its audience to ask questions and clarifications, it is also
within the public interaction. The use of easy and easy-to-understand words and
phrases is also the key to effective speech. When it is inevitable the use of complex
or unfamiliar words always gives meaning after that. The trainee during the
presentation allowed listeners to express their views or ask questions, which helped
her greatly in developing the skill.

Listening differs from hearing. When one listens, they are interested and focused on
what is being said for the purpose of understanding. The good listener faces and
keeps eye contact with the headset. Keeping your eye contact allows the speaker to
know that they are receiving your full attention. Keeping an open mind during
listening ensures that you are open to trying to understand the speaker's point of
view before moving to conclusions. Taking pictures of what the speaker says gives
you a mental picture of the idea that makes it easier for you to understand and
maintain interest in it. As a listener, it is important to let the speaker end the speech
before interrupting or interrupting. Cutting people off from others is rude and can
lead to conflict. This is what the apprentice applied during the presentation of her
designs and while listening to questions from listeners.

i

In cases where you should interrupt, always use polite phrases like "Sorry to
interrupt", making them more formal. Waiting for speakers to clarify questions
makes it easier for them to answer questions more effectively. The trainee
understands the importance of being an active listener by asking questions and
answering them. Active listening can keep one's attention and avoid distractions.
Paying attention to nonverbal signals goes a long way in promoting effective
listening. This helps you understand the mood spoken by the speaker and as a result
enhances the message.

Nonverbal communication can deliver a complete message. When speaking or

listening, it is important to pay attention to what your physical language says. The
amount of space, the right position, and the correct tone among others should be
taken into consideration during communication. It is important to maintain the right
distance between us and the person we are talking to. In some cultures, it is closer to
others, while others elsewhere remain far away. In this case, observe whether the
other party is comfortable or does not help. The posture of the body reaches your
audience a lot, and swings in your legs when you talk in a meeting about impatience
and excitement. Tones and sounds are also part of nonverbal communication that
must be interwoven with verbal communication to ensure effective communication.
The apprentice applied all the instructions for the presentation. The distance
between her and the listener was an appropriate distance and she was also interested
in the special physical language in her and in the listeners in order to know if the
listener felt comfortable.

Conclusion

In conclusion, communication skills are very important in our daily lives.

Through communication, we are able to learn and teach. With appropriate
communication skills, people can develop and maintain relationships, as well as
ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the premises. Communication skills
are broken into different classes that determine the connection line.

Verbal communication defined by language and sounds consists of listening and
speaking. Listening is to let others tell us and express their opinions and
requests. Leaving others speak beyond allowing the other to talk because it
involves attention to what they say and being an active listener.

Being a good speaker, understanding one audience enables one to be an

effective speaker. Preparation before formal talks and planning to talk facilitate
smooth talk. Avoiding repetition and late time makes talking to the apprentice
more interesting and goals.

Writing has enabled us to make our connections fairly permanent. It must be

written in a way that connects exactly what we want to communicate with and
without the use of many words. Using correct grammar, punctuation, and
spelling makes writing more effective.

When writing, it is important to make sure that ideas flow into each other to
avoid splitting them all over. Reading enables us to understand and
communicate with others. Through reading, we are able to learn from others,
understand their mind or read about their fears. Whether you are reading for fun
or for an academic or business purpose, it is important to use the recommended
reading skills. In cases where we read quickly, skimming and scanning must be
applied. Knowing the difference between skimming and scanning is also vital.

Nonverbal skills are important because they can be used to communicate with
all kinds of people. However, we must follow our non-verbal communication to
avoid passing the wrong message to avoid misunderstanding and confusion. All
kinds of different communication complement each other in making one good in
communicating with others. Getting all communication skills was helpful in
helping me communicate better with those around me.

Last but not least, the experience of the trainee was a good experience through
which he could apply all communication skills in all his previous projects during the
presentation, while communicating with supervisors or sending e-mails to
supervisors and also during phone calls, it was a very rich and wonderful experience
for the trainee.

Conclusion

During my traiming experience I have gained a great deal of professional

preparation. I have created my abilities and got a lot of understanding of work, for
example, how to manage customers, achieve them and work results. The program
was also a vital part of my time management and a clear proof of a hard working
attitude, gained confidence as part of my identity, gave assumptions and
acknowledged customer sentiment, and found out the experience of collaborators
and cooperation.
