This instructional design project will provide professional development in vocabulary
development for third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers at Lakewood TechEQ to support language
development required by the California Common Core State Standards. Vocabulary and reading
are a need in each content area, the goal is to improve teachers understanding of the most
effective teaching strategies to enable our students to make meaning from unknown words,
therefore deepening their understanding of content knowledge.

General Notes:
● This module will provide the users with a new instructional strategy for supporting
language acquisition.
● Video introduction provides connection to past professional development
● Interactive opportunities to engage learners and check for understanding to encourage
application of strategy and collaboration with peers
