A DISCUSSION ON MUTVA:TIR.
We are the first to detect the misconception of the pragmatic heretic mind of the Engineer “Ali: Mirza:

Of city of Jhelum. Ho w ever it was requested that a strict discussion be written so that one can
understand the fallacy of the Engineer of Jhelum more accurately.

‘Al H:adi:th: ‘Al Mut-va:tir [A M in short] is a tradition that is conveyed to present time from the
beginning by such a large number of persons that their agreement on Falsehood is Naturally Impossible

(‘Al Muh:a:l ‘Al “A:di:).

There are Two Types Of Mutva:tir ‘Ah:a:di:th: :-

1] Verbal Mut-va:tir:

It is the one which is conveyed by a large Number of Narrators/Reporters a Number that is Naturally
Impossible for these conveyers to agree on falsehood , and these Reporters/ Narrators do agree on
Words or Expressions , Constructions, Words in Sentences and Clauses in the sentence.

2] Meaningly Mutawaatir:

It is that which the narrators satisfying the condition stated above do agree only on the meaning , but
these ‘Ah:adi:th: do not agree on Sentences or Words in Sentences or Constructions etc.

How ever there is no number specified. But it is a very number. Each verse of Holy Qur’a:n is Mutva:tir.

But they are the highest degree of Tava:tur.

Beyond them there is no Nava:tur.

However it was Zubair “Ali: Zai who claimed Tava:tur when a Number of S:ah:i:h: traditions do
converges.

[A discussion on this principle is beyond the scope of this work. How ever it may be discussed how
Zubair “Ali: Zai innovated this Principle and this principle is based upon some Principles which he himself
does not accept, separately, ‘INSHA:’ALL-H].

However his claims of Tava:tur in such cases were not only highly questionable but also strictly
criticizeable,

Since the basic conditions For Tava:tur are as follow:-

1] Large Number of Conveyers.

2] Natural Impossibility of Falsehood [Kidh:b] due to the large number.

It must be noted that it is not the Absolute Impossibility [Logical Impossibility] of Falsehood.

So Falsehood of a Mutva:tir H:adi:th: is Logically and Absolutely Possible but Relatively and
Occurrenceally [Muh:a:l Bil V-qu:”] Impossible.

Now we come to the problem that how can it be said that if five or eight or twelve or fourteen or sixteen

Or eighteen S:ah:i:h: Li Dh:a:ti Traditions converge they constitute a Mutva:tir Tradition.

Since the agreement of five or eight or twelve etc. persons on falsehood is Naturally Possible

And Not Naturally Impossible.

So Shaikh Zubair “Ali: Zai committed a terrible mistake when he began to declare a number of traditions
as Mutva:tir due to the convergence of S:ah:i:h: Lidh:atihi: Traditions.

First of all they themselves do not satisfy the Definition of Mutva:tir and Second of all he made his own
principle based upon some thing which he himself discarded.

Actually this a problem for the personal and regular students of Zubair “Ali: Zai as well. As for as the
Telephonic , Irregular and impersonal Student the EGINEER OF JHELUM it is a prime problem, for the
Regular ,Classic and Personal Students of Zubair “Ali Zai it is a Secondary Problem.

Leaving the proper students and improper students aside one may come back to the original problem.

Agreement [‘Intifa:q in the Prime Meaning] on persons on Falsehood in the above stated number is not
Naturally impossible . This is a certain proof that that these traditions do not fulfil the conditions and
axioms of Mutva:tir.

So if a Tradition is claimed to be Mutva:tir by any one be it Zubair “Ali: ZaI or Else but the Converged
Tradition doeth not satisfy the Definition, it is a certain [Qat:”i:] Proof [Dali:l] that the claim is False or
Wrong or both.

For an example if some one claims that a Converged Tradition is Mutva:tir , since it is constituted by
convergence of Twelve S:ah:i:h: Li Dh:atihi Traditions, then the claim doeth have the following Error in
it,The Number Stated in the Supposition is not found in the Authentic and Reliable Books of Principles Of
H:adi:th:, that it is a number of Tava:tur. So the claim of twelve doeth not satisfy the condition. So an
other claim is required that the number twelve is a number that is sufficient for Tava:tur.

If the claim is accepted that twelve is such a number that such persons cannot agree on Falsehood,

Then it is possible to shew that this converged and constituted tradition of twelve S:ah:i:h: Li Dh:a:tihi:
tradition is Mutva:tir. But this number is not mentioned in the Reliable and Authentic Books of

Principles Of Tradition Of H:adi:th: . So this claim is a claim without a Proof.

This means that the tradition doeth not satisfy the claim directly and it satisfieth the definition
indirectly through the medium of a False Claim. Such a Satisfaction is not a Satisfaction of the Definition
at all, not in the least meaning of the term Satisfaction of Axioms and Conditions of a Definition.

Now it can be seen that Engineer Of Jhelum repeated the Fallacy and Mistake of Zubair “Ali: Zai by
borrowing his principle , which was invented by the Zubair “Ali Zai of H:ad:ru.

How ever in order to confuse his listeners Engineer “Ali: Mirza: went one step ahead of his Telephonic
Teacher Zubair “Ali: Zai.

He began to claim implicitly that when Zubair “Ali Zai [Late] and Shaikh: ‘Al Ba:ni [RH:] agree on a
Tradtion or a Converged Tradition that it is Mutva:tir then it is Mutva:tir with certainty.

It may be noted that such an Agreement [‘Ittifa:q in the Primary Meaning] is just a Coincidence [‘Ittifa:q
in the Secondary Meaning] , since these two person never declared any one of such tradition after a
proper discussion neither in person nor through any printed or any other media.

Yet this coincidental agreement is invalid, incorrect and wrong since in order to declare a tradition as
Mutva:tir it is necessary to follow the definition and if the definition is not satisfied then each of the two
persons are wrong and their agreement is also equally wrong and incorrect.

With this in regard it is clear that Engineer “Ali: Mirza: has comitted a garlic error by declaring the
Wrongness of as Righteousness.

This is the worse Error of all errors.

However it is probable that the Engineer Of Jhelum may deny that this is his view.

In such situation one may give him the benefit of doubt as the benefit of doubt is given to Batsman and
not to the bowler .

In this case of doubt , it may be claimed that Engineer “Ali: Mirza: of City Of Jhelum does believe that
when a Number of S:ah:i:h: Li Dh:a:tihi: Traditions converges . But he borrows they same idea that Five
or Seven or Eight or Twelve or Fourteen or Sixteen such traditions converge , they constitute a
Mutva:tir.

In some cases SOME H:asan Li Dh:a:tihi Traditions are also added to make them a part of Alleged
Constituted Mutava:tir.

It is interesting to see that Zubair “Ali: Zai did not considered H:asan Li Dh:a:ti as Significant as
considered by others.

It may be note that there is a Law that H:asan Li Dh:a:tihi can only become S:ah:i:h: Li Gh:airihi: , but
There is no Law that a H:asan Li Dh:a:tihi: Converges with Sah:i:h: Li Dh:a:tihi: , then it becometh a
Sah:i:h: Li Gh:airihi: .

Any Law made by a scholar based on a weak opinion cannot be included in Principles Of H:adi:th: .

Possible Source of Engineer Of Jhelum and His Former Teacher Zubair Ali: Zai: -

Ten men are required in Minyan [court/assembly/quorum] of Judaism. But initially there was a view in
Judaism that the minimum number for a Minyan is twelve. Then the number was reduced to Eleven.
Finally it was reduced to natural number Ten.

Ten people for a minyan is derived from a passage in the Torah.

It is said that when Egypt was left, Moses/Mu:sa: [“AS] appointed 12 persons to investigate the
land of Israel . Upon their return, 10 of the men falsely reported that Israel was "a land that
devours its inhabitants." This report caused a national hysteria. The remaining two spies, Joshua
and Caleb, did not join in with the lies of the other 10.
The 10 persons enraged God, who decreed that the Jews must wander in the desert for 40 years.
The Divine decree is quoted as follow in Torah of Tanakh:-

God said, "How long will this evil assembly provoke complaints against me?" (Numbers 14:26
and Rashi) The word "assembly" refers to the 10 spies.

The Babylonian Talmud, argues by a the Jewish Scripture as an authority for ten men
constituting a congregation in the words (Num. xiv. 27): "How long shall I bear with this evil
congregation which murmur against me?" This refers to those persons who were sent to
investigate the land of Canaan, twelve in all, two of whom, Caleb and Joshua, were faithful and
not Evil , and only ten were evil.

It appears that the Engineer “Ali: Mirza: did agree that a Assembly of people is constituted of
Ten or Twelve or Eleven men which cannot agree on false Report.
Since according to Torah of Tanakh and Talmud Ten did agree on falsehood.
This is a Possible Source of the Engineer Of Jhelum .
Implanting this concept in ‘Us:u:l ‘Al H:adi:th: he used to declare that if there are Ten or Eleven
Traditions , then it is a Huju:m of People and these people in the H-hu:m cannot speak
Falsehood. How ever if Engineer “Ali: Mirza: claims that he believes That atleast Ten S:ah:i:h: Li
Dh:athi: Traditions are required constitute a Mutva:tir Tradition by Converging . then this means
that he has borrowed the number and has rejected that they spoke falsehood and had not speak
Truth.
Exceptional Cases
Suppose that there are some ‘Ah:adi:th: that are Constituted of S:ah:i:h: Li Dh:a:ti: Traditions but
there is a Consensus among Muh:addath:u:n that these Traditions are Mutva:tir, yet they are
constituted by Eight or Twelve or Fourteen or Sixteen Traditions.
So if there is an ‘Ijma:” [Consensus] Of Muh:addith:u:n on the Constituted Tradition that it is
Mut-va:tir then this constituteth Exceptional Cases.
Exceptional cases neither can make a Law nor can break a Law.
It must be noted that there are absolute differences AMONG General Cases, ESPECIAL CASES
AND EXCEPTIONAL CASES. So if there is a Tradition that is conveyed by a number of
persons whose agreement on Falsehood is Not Naturally Impossible and is Naturally Possible
say Eight or Twelve or Fourteen , yet these traditions [Rava:ya:t] are declared as Mutva:tir by
Consensus of Muh:addith:u:n then these are the Exceptional Cases .
These is always a Room for Any Exception from a Definition in the case of ‘Ijma:” [Consensus].
So it is incorrect to argue that a Converged Tradition is conveyed by Twelve S:ah:i:h: Li
Dh:a:tihi: Traditions and there is a Consensus of Muh:addith:u:n that it is Mut-va:tir, then the
Number Twelve is a Number of Tava:tur, and if Some other S:ah:i:h: Li Dh:a:tihi Traditions
which are Twelve in Number Converge then they Constitute a Mut-va:tir Tradition even if there
is no Consensus conveyed on this Constituted Tradition, that it is Not Mut-va:tir.
Since the number twelve is not such a Number which implies Natural Impossibility of Falsehood
As stated and discussed above. So it lacketh Consensus of Muh:addith:u:n.

It must be noted that Consensus of ‘Ahlussunnah Muh:addith:u:n [ say ‘Abu: “Abdulla:h

Muḥ:ammad ‘Ibn Ismā‘īl ‘Al Bukha:ri:, “Abu: “Abd ur-Raḥma:n ‘Aḥmad ‘Ibn Shu”aib ‘An-Nasa:'i:
] is required and if some Gh:airu ‘Ahlissunnah [ say Muhammad ibn Ya‘qūb al-Kulaynī,Shari:f Rad:i:
etc. ] do not agree there disagreement is discarded and rejected.

[By the Term ‘Ahlussunnah we do not mean Barailavi cult the former cult of Engineer “Ali:
Mirza: but the ‘Ahlussunnah of the Era of Muh:addith:u:n].
It may be noted that if the Number of Narrators decreases in any one of the T:abqa:t
[Layers/Periods of Transmition] the Tradition cease to be Mutva:tir.
By Decreasing it is meant in the above sentence by the sentencer that it decrease to any number
of Conveyers whose agreement on Falsehood is Naturally Possible and Not Naturally
Impossible.

If A Constituted tradition is narrated by a number of reporters but it is not Naturally

Impossible falsehood, like if it is narrated by a Matrook (an abandoned narrator), or they
are from one country and could have taken from each other; It is not regarded as Mut-
va:tir but ‘Ah:a:d. Similarly if a very large Number of Weak Traditions exist and do
converge , they cannot only constitute a H:asan Li Gh:airihi that is Subordinate to a Single
H:asan Li Dh:a:tihi: at best , or may declare as Maud:u:” Fabrication at worst.

They can NEVER constitute a Mut-va:tir Traditions .

Lastly if a Very Large Number Of H:asan Li Dh:a:tihi Traditions do Converges to constitute a

single Tradition ,the Constituted Tradition can never be Mut-va:tir but it can become
S:ah:i:h: Li Gh:airihi , that inferior to a Single S:ah:i:h: Li Dh:a:tihi: .

They can NEVER constitute a Mut-va:tir Traditions .
