Introduction

ll praise is due to Allāh, the Lord of the Worlds, Who is
A the Unique, al-Wāḥid, al-Aḥad, al-Ṣamad, He begets
not, nor is He begotten, and none is like Him. We ask for
infinite prayers of peace and blessings to be conveyed to our
Infallible Usher to the Truth, the Solace of our Souls, the
Carrier of the Divine Trust, the Most Praised Creature
throughout the Heavens and the Earth, the Most Honoured,
the Most Majestic, the Most Beautiful, the Most Perfect, the
Most Beloved, our Master Abū al-Qāṣim, Muḥammad, son of
Abdullāh son of Abd al-Muṭṭalib son of Hāshim, and may
prayers of peace and blessings be eternally upon his
Sanctified Family, especially our Lady Fāṭimat ul-Zahrā , our
Master and Star of Guidance, the Lion of Allāh, Alī son of Abū
Ṭālib, the Princes of Paradise, their blessed sons, the Coolness
of our Eyes, the Martyrs al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn, and we ask
for peace and blessings to be upon their entire Holy Progeny
from their Sacred lifetimes until the Day of Reckoning.

The poetry in this collection was written during my travels.

Poems written by the Holy Gates of the Master of the first
and last, and in Jannat al-Baqī , in Madīnat ul-Munawwara,
peace and blessings be upon him, at the Mausoleum of al-
Ḥusayn ibn Alī, in Cairo, may Allah be well pleased with
them, on the road to Makkah, and others in a quiet home far
away in cold Canada. Some were written in the Holy Month
of Ramadhān, some in the blessed month of Rabī ul-Awwal.

I
May Allāh bless every reader with a visit and vision of the
Most Beautiful Created Being , awake and asleep.

The needy of Allāh's Mercy,

Walid Lounès Bouzerar

Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

At the Gates of the Majestic Prophet

O Messenger of God
We have come to greet you
And it is from your Sunnah
To never turn a visitor away
Nor to leave him empty-handed
So we ask of you
In this blessed hour
To beseech the Lord
For our much needed forgiveness
O Blessing from God
Dress us in the robes of your affection
Look upon us with a gaze of tenderness
For our hearts are yearning
And our will is weak
And you are our hope
So intercede for us and our loved ones
And take us by your perfumed hand
And keep us in your close embrace
And give us to drink from your Fountain
O the Light of our hearts
Our love for you is our provision
Our love for you is our ship
And it carries us on the sea of life
Without it we would drown in our weakness
And our sight would be feeble and short
But you have turned our face to the Hereafter
With your close attention and care

1
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

You give a new leaf to the sinners

You open a new chapter for every lost one
And by God my life is a proof of this
And the Lord Most High is the Best Witness
So O my hope, O my Guide, O my Teacher
Gaze upon me once again
And speak again to me a tender word
And beam upon me a gentle smile
My heart longs for you
And I am certain you know this
I beseech you by the Mercy that you are
To leave us not for the blinking of an eye
You are my rope to the heavens
And you are my heaven itself
So O Walking Heaven of the Earth and Skies
Breathe me into your existence
May the blessings and peace of our Lord
Be upon your Secret, your Soul, your Body
And upon your Holy Family
And your rightly guided Companions.

2
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

At the Door of Merciful Infinity

I stand at the Door of Merciful Infinity
With no power nor ability
With no deeds to explain this vicinity
O Dweller of the Enlightened City
My Soul knows no other who meets this affinity
O My Door to the Pure Divinity
To the Lord of Unicity
O Possessor of a Light That Shines Most Brilliantly
May my heart reflect your countenance vividly
O Possessor of Grace and Chivalry
No justice would do even a thousand litanies
O Our Infallible Means to Stability
O Possessor of Sublimity
O Our Water of Resiliency
O Distributor of Tranquility
O Solution to Every Difficulty
O Antidote to Every Sin That Limits Me
O My Heart’s Serenity
O Cure to Our Every Deficiency
O You Through Whose Light Hearts See
O Source of Every Humility
I beseech you, by this proximity
Visit me.
O Allāh - send your peace and seas
Of blessings upon he who oversees
Your servants and renders their hearts appeased
The Holder of Paradise’s Keys .

3
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

O Visitor of the City of Light

O Visitor of Madīnah
Tread the land lightly
For here rests
The Dearest to God
From the start to the end
Of Eternity
And he is the Master of Mankind
Speak gently
O Visitor of the City of Light
And give your heart to silence
Bask in the tranquility
In the rays of Mercy and Divine Gifts
O Visitor of al-Baqī
Who rests here?
Those beloved to this Pole of Creation
Who have felt his touch
Who have been dressed in his gaze
Who have been softened by his speech
Will you laugh much and weep little?
O Visitor to the Sacred Land
Will you not reflect
On the Noble Being who tread this earth?
Will you not keep him in your heart?
And give your Soul reprieve
Give your Soul security
Give your Soul salvation
Ask for nothing less in this visit
For this is your gift if He so Wills.

Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

This Burning Translated

We begin with God's Blessed Name and praise Him
Then we invoke blessings upon the Most Celebrated
Our invocations upon him are our means to peace
We enter this fortress, minds at rest, hearts elated

His light is our guide upon the Lord's Straight Path

And our drinking of it keeps our Souls hydrated
We sip on this light in the day and in the night
Else we would find our forward steps abated

Our remembrance of him fuels our hearts' fires

And these words are but this burning translated
Every lover is left intoxicated permissibly
Every Soul left illuminated, exhilarated

This pure drink, pouring secretly from the heavens

Through a blessed spring in the garden of the initiated
Invocations upon Muḥammad , here is our river
Carrying us swiftly, every traveler accelerated

Every dweller of this garden of invocations

Is from every obstacle and tribulation emancipated
A people whose language is bathed in salutations
Who have preferred him and are thus deemed exonerated

Their characters decorated by the lights of the Light

They find themselves as melodies, Divinely orchestrated

5
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Every space they enter: inundated with blessings and peace

And every Soul that encounters them is left elevated

Every mind: captivated, for their presence is enveloped

In that Ocean in which every lover prays to be annihilated
Every listener is thus through their speech left educated
For these are the ones whose blessings from God are unregulated

O by the name Muḥammad , every hope is swiftly restored

O by the name Muḥammad , every darkness is vacated
The worldly fears are chased, the enemies are floored
And every one pulled by love to Muḥammad is elated

If you are seeking your way back home - O Son of Adam

Find it through the Light from which you were originated
The Sun by which the Celestial Gardens are cultivated
The Spring through which the Celestial Gardens are saturated

Beauty upon majesty, upon an immense character

Thus was the Best of Creation by the Lord created
O Lord, convey Your Peace and Blessings upon him
And upon his Family, a prayer by which we are liberated

A prayer by which our Souls are left invigorated

A prayer by which every blessing is stimulated
And rushed to us from every side, Divinely aided
And upon his guided Companions, the Divinely shaded

6
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Mercy

The Soul’s Means
To escape every difficulty
The Gate to Tranquility
The Remedy
To every predicament-stricken entity
Sent as a Light , beautifying every crevice in
The Lands and the Heavens, every created being's Medicine
Mercy to the Worlds , means mercy to the worlds
Mercy to the humans, jinns, the trees, the bees, the seas, the birds
Mercy to the soil, the lakes, the seeds, the deeds, the thoughts, the
words
Mercy to the boys, the girls, the last, the first, the best, the worst
Mercy to the blessed and cursed, the who? O yes, the cursed too
Mercy bursting like a Sun, with rays that shun no piece of earth
Nursing every seedling buried, in good keeping from their birth
Mercy to the pious, mercy to the sinners; Mercy
Mercy to the wise, mercy to the fools; Mercy
Mercy to the living, mercy to the dead; Mercy
Mercy to the knowers, mercy to the ignorant; Mercy
Mercy to the leaves, the blades of grass
Mercy extraordinary, mercy fragrant, mercy unsurpassed
Mercy to the cattle, mercy during peace and battle
Mercy during rest and travel, mercy, mercy, O mercy to dazzle
A healing mercy, feeding mercy, scenting mercy
Opening hearts, blessing the Souls, quenching the thirsty
A loving mercy, simple mercy, tender mercy
Free mercy, countless mercies in this mercy

7
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Merciful Lord, bless and send peace to Your Mercy to the Worlds
By the number of manifestations of Your Mercy
By the scope, the strength and power of Your Mercy
We pray for his merciful touch, merciful gaze
We pray for mercy to reach, mercy to praise
O Possessor of the Mercy to raise
Mercy to guide, Mercy to daze
Guide us to Merciful ways, Merciful days
Merciful Truth, Merciful graze
In the Garden of Your Merciful Vision
We ask for Your Merciful Admission
Keep us firm in the mercy of his Tradition
Bless, O Allāh, the mercy to our Souls, our hearts, our minds
Bless, O Allāh, the merciful conveyor of Your Signs
Bless, O Allāh, the beauty by which every heart is mesmerized
Bless, O Allāh, he through who every guided Soul is made to rise

8
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

His Beauty Has Made Me a Poet

They ask me, “Tell me about your beloved?”
What can I say to you; his beauty has made me a poet

For by Allāh, even describing him neutrally is itself a poem

His description is akin to a garden of superlatives
And his attributes are the most beautiful of flowers
The hearts of his lovers are nurtured by them like bees
And the honey they produce therefrom is a cure
What can I say to you; his beauty has made me a poet

Breathing in his light , the hearts blossom in the garden of praise

Drinking this blessed water , they shiver like thirsty stems revived
I have taken on the impossible, in walking this path of praise
Like trying to bring the Sun through the pen’s tip
O beloved questioner, listen here:
What can I say to you; his beauty has made me a poet

What can the thirsty man in the barren desert pray for
Except for even a sip of water to survive
This is the likeness of the lovers with Muḥammad
For surely it is only water that does quench
And Muhammad is the water for our Souls
What can I say to you; his beauty has made me a poet

9
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

I speak of his beauty , these words are flames, they speak of the Sun
Warm yourself in this beauty and open your eyes to the path
The flame illuminates the room and you see the door
Step outside to take in the embrace of the Sun
What can I say to you; his beauty has made me a poet

10
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Your Cool, Fragrant Hand

The heart knows no beauty like that of Muḥammad
How can it? When the Soul has whispered a secret to it
None can match the Possessor of the Praised Station

So, O heart, how can you reach your Lord without him ?
Can one enter the sphere of the Guider without His Guidance ?
How can one be entered into the Proximity of the King
Without first being dressed in the Lights of His Beloved ?

Give yourself up to Muḥammad , O Heart!

For by Allāh, your very life is dependent on this
Look upon him , and be drowned in awe and humility
Be drowned in a pool of tears, that is where life is found
Look upon him , and be quenched by his beauty
A majestic manifestation of mercy and utter servant-hood

O Muḥammad , take us by your cool, fragrant hand

O Muḥammad , were you to breathe your light into my heart
O Muḥammad , leave me not for even the blinking of an eye

O Allāh – convey Your blessings and peace upon Muḥammad

And make his luminous city our final resting place
And make our witnessing Your Oneness our final words
In the presence of the Master of the first and last
With our limbs, tongues, hearts professing his Messengership

O Allāh – were I to be taken back to You whilst praising him

O Allāh – were my life to be lived in praise of him
O Allāh – what Grace, what Mercy, what Compassion

11
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

That a sinner such as this servant, and You know best

Have a tongue and heart sweetened by this pure name
How could I ever claim this be anything other than a gift?

O Most Loving One, keep us in his close embrace

And keep his praise ever on my tongue and in my heart
Till I be entered in the sphere of Your Eternal Pleasure

12
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

The Face of Aḥmad

The face of Aḥmad
Like the Full Moon enrobed in a pure silk cloth
Light flowing as though flooding from his blessed pores
His blessed eyes
Darkened as by Kohl, shadowed like the Moon’s crevices
Those blessed lips sweetened by the Divine Revelation
His utterance of it a mellow articulation of sincerity
Not artificial, not disguised
Plain and natural as the bee delivering its honey
Melodious and pure, enrapturing whoever hears it
Lustrating the heart of every listener
Decorating it with deep tranquility and beauty
O the generosity and care-taking of that Prophet
Were the shame of a sinner and transgressor
From his Ummah to surface for all to see
He would shelter it under his own blessed cloak
O the beauty of that Prophet and O the humility
Were he to sit amongst the destitute and outcast
You could not tell him apart due to his bashfulness
O how we long for the Light of Aḥmad to adorn us
That we may reach our Lord with manners
That we may love through Allāh and for Allāh
That we may give only to please Him
O Allāh – Your Generosity is unfathomable
And You have showered me with blessings over and over
What have I but You?
Convey Your peace and blessings upon

13
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

The Moon of Our Hearts

The Light of Our Nights
And upon his Family and Companions
By the measure of Your Favors upon us

14
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Quenched by the Light of His Face

The Beloved Muḥammad is like the Full Moon
But one that neither eclipses nor it does wane
And with a Light brighter than the sun at high noon
Whose quenching touch is gentler than summer rain

My heart guards my eyes in a jealous embrace

They shed tears for no other than him and his Lord
And when dry, they are quenched by the Light of his face
Invocations of blessings, the peace is restored

Were the scent of Aḥmad to descend upon a place

Its dwellers would spin in a frantic search of wonder
Thinking they must have stumbled upon Heaven’s Gates
So, seeker, clear is your path on your journey yonder

O Allāh, as a prayer through which you remove every pain

Convey from us Your utmost peace and blessings upon
Muḥammad , and ‘Alī, Fāṭimah, Ḥasan and Ḥusayn
And multiply it till our every trace of heedlessness is gone

15
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Your Smile Is My Paradise

O Muḥammad – your smile is my paradise
For it I would trade this world and what is in it
By your merciful gaze the Souls are raised
Up to the Presence of the Lord Almighty

O Muḥammad – your smile is my paradise

By Allāh were your smile to manifest upon me
I would proclaim to the world victory
In this life and the Next, O my heart’s light

O Muḥammad – your smile is my paradise

Were my being to be forever engulfed in that Aura
Of healing Lights pouring from your blessed heart
Transforming every crevice of my thirsty Soul

O Muḥammad – your smile is my paradise

Deprive me not from an answer to my plea
O my merciful master, may Allāh’s copious blessings
Be upon you, your Companions and your Sanctified Family

16
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Possessor of Beauty and Perfection

Muḥammad, possessor of beauty and perfection
Possessor of guidance and intercession
Muḥammad, our hope on the Day of Resurrection
Whose remembrance brings reform to our intention

Muḥammad, possessor of the direction

To the Lord, under whose Might we seek protection
Muḥammad, possessor of the connection
To the Lord, through whose Subtlety we seek correction

Muḥammad, the bringer of Recollection

Our relief from every harm and every tension
Muḥammad, peace descends upon his mention
He whom our turning to answers every question

Muḥammad, the bringer of justice and serenity

Our protection from every devil and every enemy
Muḥammad, the guiding light who was sent to free
Every Soul, the mercy to every entity

Muḥammad, possessor of generosity

Dispelling every bringer of animosity
Muḥammad, possessor of pure modesty
The Pristine Light sent by Allāh to speak

Muḥammad, the Prophet every guided Soul does seek

The trusty shelter to the oppressed and weak
Muḥammad, possessor of the station most unique
Allāh bless him, for every tear on his lovers' cheeks

17
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Our Key

If you are looking for Madīnah
Follow the tears of his lovers
And if you find yourself
Already amongst them
Then seek no further
Certainly not its bricks and carpets
But its very Soul mingles with theirs
Do you not perceive
O internally blind one
Muḥammad is amongst us
Do you not perceive
O heretical literalist
It is only through his Light
That you may enter Paradise
His love is our Key
To the gates of the Divine Court
O Allāh – convey your utmost blessings
Upon the Resplendent Guiding Light
With a prayer that joins our Souls
With his , here and Hereafter

18
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Muḥammad, the Divine Masterpiece

O you who does seek proximity
My brother there is no faster means
For those who sway lost in the sea:
Muḥammad, the Divine Masterpiece

So imbue your heart with vigilance

Follow every single chance to seize
Invoke upon him with diligence:
Muḥammad, the Divine Masterpiece

The gift of his love and blessed gaze

Is the Key to Everlasting Peace
His Way outweighs all the other ways:
Muḥammad, the Divine Masterpiece

And in truth there is no other way

What is cut off from him has to cease
Falsehood next to him , is like night and day:
Muḥammad, the Divine Masterpiece

The repository of knowledge

Through which every gnostic master speaks
Through which every weak heart is polished:
Muḥammad, the Divine Masterpiece

O Allāh - convey blessings and peace

A prayer attached to vast increase
To the vital piece , the centrepiece :
Muḥammad, the Divine Masterpiece

19
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Prophecy Reigns

By God's Will, all of creation is subjected to him
All is holy, all is loved that is connected to him
Possessor of beauty, protected from sin
Countless salutations be sent unto him

Shimmering, glimmering, lovers do drink

A Light emanating, for which lovers do sing
Endless the blessings these waters do bring
Countless salutations be sent unto him

Till the Day of Reckoning to his cloak do we cling

A gaze of compassion that mends every wing
A heart free from passion, with love from the King
Countless salutations be sent unto him

His words are unchallenged, his actions are guidance

Wisdom like gold in the sea of his silence
No mind and no heart can fathom his highness
Countless salutations be sent unto him

The master of physical and spiritual science

An endless ocean of indivisible kindness
With shyness, but a lion in the face of the tyrants
Countless salutations be sent unto him

The grandfather of Ḥasan and Ḥusayn

Who transforms to resilience tribulation and pain
By the lights of these names we beseech once again
Countless salutations be sent unto him

20
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

All ambiguities made simple and plain

In his shimmering presence, Prophecy reigns
By Your Attributes, Lord, and Your Beautiful Names,
Countless salutations be sent unto him

21
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

May Your Companion Be Muḥammad

O my heart, do not dream except
That you first place yourself at the bottom of our grave
For as long as you are conscious of my imminent death
Then I worry not where you wander off to with your dreaming
And as long as you remember that our breaths are numbered
Then I trust you will not transgress the rights of Reality

O my heart, the grave is a lonely place

There are no colors there just pitch black darkness
O my heart, there are no friends there
Nor are there beautiful sounds nor beautiful sights
Nor are there beautiful scents nor beautiful tastes
Except for the one the Lord Most High has showered Mercy upon

O my heart how would you like to have a friend there

How would you like for Muḥammad to visit you
My trembling heart there is nothing in your way
But your heedlessness
My dreaming heart there is nothing
Between you and Muḥammad
Except whims and desires
and the passing fancies of this lower world
If you can transcend that,
Then may your Companion be Muḥammad
By the Will and Grace of the Lord Most High
And may this most beautiful Companion's fragrance permeate you

22
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

O my heart, may Muḥammad's beautiful face dazzle you

May his velvety touch throw you into an ecstatic bliss
May his piercing black eyes take you spinning
To the Throne of God
May Muḥammad's black locks wrap around you
Like a safety blanket
May his melodious voice enrapture you
Till the Seventh Heaven

O my beloved heart, so you see, the path is clear

Enter the grave before you are made to enter it
From the clay we came, to the clay we shall return

And as for our dreams, O heart, wrap them in selflessness

And place them in the hands of the Master of the first and last
Muḥammad the Truthful One, Carrier of the Divine Trust
May the blessings of God and His peace be upon him
And his beloved, Sanctified Family

23
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

A Phrase of Divine Love

Were musk to seek to perfume itself
I would guide it to the touch of the Most Praised
If a station were to hold itself in high esteem
I would point skywards to the Most Raised

If glory came along in the form of blessings

I would pronounce the name of the Heavenly Jewel
If the seas were to boast of their majesty
I would remind them of the owner of the Heavenly Pool

If the Sun were to bathe me with its radiant touch

I would turn its attention to the Light of my Heart
If the stories of Kings were to strut before me
I would guide them to Aḥmad , right from the start

If the Night were to speak of its proximity with the Day

Of their love and ancient relationship
I would speak the Exalted Lord’s Name followed by Muḥammad's ,
A phrase of Divine love found on every Muslim’s lips

A phrase of Divine love found on the Lord’s Throne

A phrase of Divine love found in the Angel’s songs
A phrase of Divine love that colours Heaven and Earth
A phrase of Divine love for which every Soul does long

Lā Ilāha Illa Allāh Muḥammadun Rasūl Allāh

24
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Minted by Aḥmad

My heart, my blood, my bones
Are for the Family of the Prophet
My possessions, my dreams, my hopes
I sacrifice to the Family of my Beloved

My will is reined, my will is grasped

My will is pulled with a force so awesome
What then will you sacrifice for him they ask
My Soul is for you O my master Abū al-Qāṣim

May it mingle with the dust below your blessed feet

May you step upon it that your mark be imprinted
Upon it like the rocks are made like dough so sweet
With your touch, and so becomes by Aḥmad minted

May the glow of your magnificent countenance

Be the Light by which my heart is guided
My heart, may it be expanded, in your Aura’s soundness
Like the drop and Ocean may we forever be united

25
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

The Spring of Virtues

The one who praises
Virtues of excellence
Is knowingly or unknowingly
Praising Muḥammad

The one who dreams

Of human potential perfected
Is knowingly or unknowingly
Dreaming of Muḥammad

The one who is in dire need

Of compassion and mercy
Is knowingly or unknowingly
In dire need of Muḥammad

The thirsty one

Yearning for water
Is knowingly or unknowingly
Yearning for the Spring itself

Wind your thirst, O Man

Where is your aspiration?
Do you want the drop or the Spring ?

26
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Last to Come but First to Be

O Soul, every relationship, is a relationship with your Lord
This entire life is but a conversation with your Lord
So when you thank your Lord with your tongue
Thank your Lord with your heart
And when you thank the creation with your tongue
Thank your Lord with your heart

Only let deeds to creation sprout

If they spring from the soil of pleasing your Lord
For then you will receive from their bountiful fruits
And be saved from what could have been poisonous thorns

O Allāh - grant us the witnessing of Your Unicity

And bliss that transcends worldly felicity
Save us – our Lord – from every adversity
By the Prophet who was last to come but first to be

O lover, bring that name upon your lips

And let us see the petals of your state bloom
Pull into your Soul that unmistakable perfume
Till your being is by Light consumed

O Allāh – convey blessing and peace upon

The Chosen One, The Most Praised, Most Honoured
To bless existence since even before rose the sun
The Sun of suns, Lord, make us and he as one

27
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

A Heaven Sent Guest

O Soul, have you not been taught
That it is bad manners
To prepare for a guest
Only after its arrival?

Have you not received news

That a guest is coming
Heaven sent, blessing-laden
O what gifts it has come with!

A guest so honored by its Lord

That the devils are summoned
And prohibited from being in its presence

A guest so honored by its Lord

That emanating from its secret garden are
The breezes of His Mercy
The fragrance of His Forgiveness
And the waters of Freedom from Chastisement

O Soul, clean your home, will you not?

Spread out the carpet of good manners
Bring forth the drinks of repentance
Serve then the feast of Divine Remembrance

For this guest has traveled far

And it has come with a Word from its Lord

28
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’ân,

a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for that guidance, and the
Criterion (2:185)

So receive this Noble Word with your right hand

And enlighten the crevices of your heart,
O to life of the hearts, Everliving One!
Bring our hearts to life at the hands of this servant
And enter our Souls into its secret garden
Under the gaze of the Master of the first and last
The most Noble of Your servants
Muḥammad, the Trusted One
Through whom we were acquainted with your servant
The Holy Month of Ramadan

O Allāh – through the Mercy to the Worlds

and by this Holy Month
Let us not enter this month but that
We are prepared
On the levels of our bodies, minds, Souls, and inner secrets
And give us blessing in the time spent in it
And open to us the doors of Your Favors and Direct Witnessing
And let this noble guest not leave but that
We have tasted Your Eternal Mercy
We have been granted Your Eternal Forgiveness
And we have been saved from Your Chastisement
O Most Merciful of the merciful
And resurrect us amongst
The Most Majestic and Beautiful of Your Creation
Under his Banner of Praise
And keep us in his presence
Till we are secure in Your Eternal Abode.
Āmīn.

The Invocation of Ramadhan

In invocation upon the Solace of the Hearts
Pangs of hunger feel like the tickles of Angels
Beads of sweat are like pearls from the Heavens
The heat of Summer feels like the hug of a baby

In invocation upon Muḥammad , the Beloved of God

We find the meanings in our fasting, nay, we find in it
Pleasure tucked inside it like a flower from Paradise
Bringing the scent of Divine Love and Guidance to all

In invocation upon the Holy Messenger , Aḥmad

The breaths of empty stomachs become like
The mouths of musk bags full to the brim
The hearts become like mirrors reflecting the Hereafter

In invocation upon the Sanctuary to the Souls

Voices become tender yet pierce the Heaven’s Veils
Hearts become delicate yet they hold Oceans of love
And send forth tidal waves to cleanse the horizons

O Dweller of Madīnah

Glory to Allāh, who brought forth two Eids
The second outshines the first
Like the Sun next to a candlelight
O Dweller of Madīnah
If Eid ending Ramadhan means
Quenching thirst after bodily abstinence
Then Eid ending your distance means
Quenching thirst after the desert of separation
O What a difference between
the thirst of the body
and the thirst of the Soul!
Praise be to Allāh
Who quenched the crevices of our Souls
If pure milk is to be brought from His Infinite Sea,
Would He choose other than
The purest of river beds for it to flow through?
A Light shone upon my heart
That set it aflame and made my eyes sweat
My limbs at rest, a deep sigh from the bed of my chest
What is this river of sadness that has come forth?
My body has arrived, but my Soul still yearns
As though it longs to be mingled with the soil of this city
O Allāh - bless Your bringer of glad tidings
Till this fever in my heart and body
Is met with his eternal company

The Litmus Test

Rasūl Allāh brought you
the Profession of Unicity,
the Prayer,
the Zakat,
the Fasting of Ramadhan,
the Hajj,
he brought you the Noble Word of God,
he brought you guidance to every good
and protection from every evil,
he is the most Beautiful
and most Majestic creation of God,
he brought an accepted and guaranteed
relationship with your Lord,
and he is guidance perfected ,
his aspirations are the pinnacle of every aspiration ,
his way of life is the perfect prototype
and inspiration for every life,
his character is the Spring of perfect character
that every perfect character trait gushes and flows from,
his generosity is the Sun
that every nourishing ray of generosity in existence shines from.
Who heeds him , heeds God.
Who neglects his command , neglects the command of God.

His name is Muḥammad .

32
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

No Angel or enlightened being exists

but that it rejoices at the existence of Muḥammad .
No shaytan or being of darkness exists
but that it despairs at the existence of Muḥammad .

Understand.

O you who falsely claims to love God -

why are you not ever found
in ecstatic celebration of his very being ?
Why is the perfume of praising him
untraceable in your presence?
We are not deceived.
Neither is your Lord.

The litmus test for your love of Allāh,

is your sincere, blissful love,
bewildered reverence,
yearning rejoicing
at the mention of Muḥammad .

The Kiswa My Soul Clings To

I cling with my Soul to the coat-tail of my Shaykh
As I cling with my limbs to the Kiswa of the Ka ba
For in his heart is found That House and Its Possessor
That majestic being extending from the Progeny of al-Muṣṭafā

Like the foal and its mother, I follow the steps of al-Ḥaydar
I have found in this world no equal to the Path of these Men
And were the world and what is in it to offer itself in trade
“Muḥammad and his party” would be my cry, again and again

Immense is this affair, awe-stricken, bewildered I remain

Every step of the way, wonders abound springing from this Source
The Light of Aḥmad , swimming through every crevice they touch
Like they stand always ten steps before me, preparing the course

This steed they have placed me upon, O what a mighty steed

Reined by their formless presence, their meanings guide it swiftly
Crowned by their permissions, striding across the jungles
What have I to worry when Ṭāhā’s inheritors ride with me ?

O Allāh - convey Your peace and blessings for Eternity

Upon he from whom the secrets burst, the first created
The one shaded by Your Mercy and Guidance, Yāsīn
The Gifter of an Immense Affair, for no treasures would I trade it.

Our Proof

O seeker of proofs -
leave us and seek on your proofs
with the Muftis and Grammarians
our proof is a secret in our heart
were you to silence your self sufficiently
you would taste that which nurtures the Soul
rather than that which fuels the tongue

O seeker of proofs -
be still, be silent
In the company of Muḥammad's lovers
and the proofs themselves
will seek you

The Lover

The lovers, amongst those seeking their Lord,
are the nearest in Proximity and most cherished.
Do you not see how when one loves another,
such as when a man falls in love with a woman,
he seeks to know all that she loves?
If she loves a certain color,
he will wear it and adorn his home with it.
If she loves a certain scent,
he will perfume himself and his home with it.
If she loves a person, so will he.
If she loves a certain place,
he too will cherish it,
and may even spend nights there
to quench his thirst of love.
So it is with His lovers
Yet their intentions are veiled
from those whose hearts are not colored
by the hues of God's love,
That is why you may find them
seeking out all that He loves,
seeking those whom He loves,
those whose hearts
He opened to His Proximity and Love.
That is why you see them
seeking those places of the Earth
He has raised in status and made sacred.
That is why you see them

36
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

emulating the actions of those whom He loves,

you see them echoing their words,
you see them wearing what they wear,
eating what they eat.
You see those lovers
seeking the states of His lovers,
loving who and what they love,
hating who and what they hate.
This is the nature of the lover,
and he who claims love with his tongue,
but his actions do not follow suit as such,
is but a liar,
and he is but lying to his own Soul –
may Allāh protect us from such a calamity.
O Allāh - grant us the sincerity and perfection
in our loving You
and loving those whom You love
and grant us their love
and keep us in their company
and resurrect us with them
on that Day where none will be shaded by Your Mercy
save by Your Permission,
O Most Beautiful One, keep us, in this life and the Next
with the Exemplar of Lovers ,
who joins all the lovers in one blessed place,
the Most Beloved in the Heavens and the Earth,
Muḥammad ,
and bless him with a blessing
that grants us his Presence and Vision
awake and asleep,
and You are Capable over all things.
O God.
Āmīn.

To the Service of My Beloved

O you lovers
who have inhaled
the inebriating scent of al-Muṣṭafā ,
and who have bathed in that Presence ,
and who have beheld that Full Moon ,

Would you then redirect so much as a glance

towards this rotting Dunyā
and the stench that accompanies it?

Verily, my life, I hand it,

whatever He Wills that it is worth,
to the service of my Beloved ,
and his name is Muḥammad ,
and my work is for HIS sake ,
and to raise HIS banner ,
not to nibble on petty crumbs.
To raise HIS name ,
to exalt HIS station ,
to glorify HIS message ,
O you foolish one chasing Dunyā
and who therefore sees all of Mankind chasing it,
drop your case against his lovers ,
lest a heavy tribulation befalls you.

May my Soul and possessions

and all living links be sacrificed for you,
O Messenger of Mercy ,

38
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

O Coolness of My Eyes ,
Take this needy hand and raise it with you
Till this clay beneath my feet
Meets neither my eyes nor my heart,
Till I enter into His Garden
In your Majestic Presence ,
May the blessings and peace of Allāh Most High
be upon you
and your Sanctified Family
and Companions eternally.

A Divinely Ordained Crown

When a lady appears before me in her Ḥijāb
I am reminded of my beloved Muḥammad
Not only due to her will being aligned with his
But for the courage that manifests upon her
Especially in the times of ignorance that we live in
A Divinely Ordained Crown that she weighs upon her lower desires
Verily it is the humility that springs from his heart
That flows as a beautiful covering for every believer
Thus the Ḥijāb is an internal reality made manifest
And so it is that we are fashioned by the Muḥammadan Lights
The King of Kings gave us of His Beauty
As the King does offer a gift to His beloved servant
And ordered us to guard this treasure
Lest we be dispossessed of it by darkness
And so I am reminded of this trust
And so I am reminded of this gift
And so I am reminded of its sanctity
Verily we have honoured the Children of Adam (17:70)
O Ḥijāb - you appear as a piece of cloth
But to the believing heart you are Remembrance
A Dhikr for the lovers, a vehicle of Divine Aspiration
O Ḥijāb, you appear as a headdress
Yet you are like the page of a love-note
From the Beloved Almighty Allāh
Delivered by Muḥammad
O Allāh – dress the believing men and women
With the inner Ḥijāb of modesty

40
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

And guard the whole with Your Protection

O Allāh – preserve the honor of Muḥammad’s Ummah
And keep them safe from ill intentions and oppression
O Allāh – and lastly, grant the women of this Nation –
For their following Your Pleasure –
That which no eye has seen, nor ear has heard
Nor has occurred to a human heart

His Light Upon My Brow

Were the Gaze of Muḥammad to reach me
I would, with the Light upon my brow,
Boast before the brightest stars in the skies
“O Stars, make way, be not shameless!”
For his sake , not the receiver's
For no cheek is met by this Mercy
But it is crowned as a manifest King
In the Heavens and in the lands
Amongst Mankind and Jinn
Amongst the animals and plants
Amongst the mountains and seas
Worldly kings are compelled
To lower their necks in reverence
Before he who is cradled in the sphere
Of Muḥammad’s Gaze
In reality, no creature is praised
Except for Muḥammad
For he is the Spring of Praiseworthy Traits
And the Light in every good deed and word
The Guiding Light, in this very moment amongst us!
Like Waters of Alchemy
Your portion is proportionate to your aspiration
Drink, then drink some more!
More, O lover, this River dries not!
O Muḥammadan Lights –
Do keep gushing to our hearts
And do keep transforming our lives

42
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

And do keep bringing us love of Allāh

And do keep opening the way to the Heavens
O Allāh – convey your peace and blessings
Upon Your Most Beloved Prophet
A prayer that opens our destinies
To the reception of his Merciful Gaze

Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

The Flag of My Prophet

Upon affliction,
I raise the Flag of my Prophet ever higher
For he is the Way
Out of every trial and tribulation
You are not doing any favor to your Religion
By raising any other flag
You are, in your limited comprehension
Of his Oceans of Mercy
Failing to represent him
and the message he was sent with
And instead making public
Your faulty understanding of this Religion
We are with Muḥammad
and he is with the Truth
And he is with the oppressed,
and tireless against injustice
So tell me, what other flag do we need?
What other flag do we need?
O true colors, o true colors,
How you never fail to rise,
How you never fail to rise,
No less than the Sun nor the Moon
The acumen of Light
Cannot fathom putting out fire with fire
No, the fires of falsehood are only put out
With those sweet waters
The waters of Divine Revelation and Celestial Mercy

44
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

That came to us from the Lord of the Heavens and Earth

Through the Pure Vessel of Resplendent Illumination
Our Way is Islam
And we are pleased with it
Whether it tires the disbelievers and imposters
Our Way is that of Muḥammad
Regardless of the ignorant
Despite their attempts to taint
This Perfect Divine Message
Nay, darkness merely disappears
In the presence of Light
So when they plot their plots,
We turn to Muḥammad
And by the Everlasting Mercy that he came with
We join hands, join hearts and join Souls
And we, together, raise HIS Flag ever higher
And no flag can be raised above his

Give Your Form up to the Formless

Would you still sit at the feet of your Shaykh
If he knew no fame?
If Allāh had not granted him notoriety as a provision
Would you still seek his company?
If that Soul you call your guide
Lived but on crumbs and was hidden from this world
Would you, were you taken to him, clasp his hand?
What is it in this man that you see?
Is it a magnificent Soul whose gaze uplifts you
Whose presence and words direct you
Whose state rectifies your heart?
Or is it a well-groomed man
With an eloquent tongue
And a far-reaching reputation?
If Allāh had not dressed him
In this outer attractive power
Would his inner himma
Grasp your attention?
O follower – the image of this man
Is but the foam of the ocean
And if you were to taste the majesty of its breadth
You would be too bewildered
To preoccupy your self with his outer image
So return to him with a heart empty of images
See not his outer form
And give your form up to the formless
For were you to do that

46
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

A journey of a thousand years

Would be scaled down
To but a fraction

The images are many
The goal is single
Give your form up

The Life in Our Death

Death comes to those who wait for it
and to those who do not wait for it.

Death comes to those believe in it

and to those who do not believe in it.

Death comes to those who love it

and to those who hate it.

Death comes to those who remember it

and to those who are heedless of it.

Death comes to those who have witnessed it

and to those who have never witnessed it.

Death comes.

Death comes to the wealthy,

death comes to the poor.

Death comes in the mountains,

death comes in the valleys.

Death comes to the certain,

death comes to the doubters.

Death comes to the wakened,

death comes to the sleeping.

Death comes to the hopeful,

death comes to the despairing.

Death comes.

48
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Death comes as a light,

or it may come as an abyss.

Death comes as a door,

or it may come as a hole.

Death comes as a treasure,

or it may come as a debt.

Death comes to a body,

or it may first come to a heart.

Death comes as life,

or it may come as death.

Death comes.

O God - do not let

life come
with any good
nor any bad
except that death comes with it
as a reminder.

O God - and when death comes

do not let it come except that
Muḥammad
is by our side
taking firm hold
of our affair
in entirety

O God - bless and give peace

to the coolness of our eyes
the life in our death
Muḥammad
and upon his Family and Companions.

“Astaghfirullāh” was voiced from the Day of Creation
And send peace upon Muḥammad
by the number of times
“Astaghfirullāh” was voiced from the Day of Creation
And through the door of this Majestic Prophet
We enter
As we prostrate to You, declaring:
Astaghfirullāh
With acceptance, make our every breath express:
Astaghfirullāh

Astaghfirullāh
And for our insincerity in asking forgiveness:
Astaghfirullāh
For every good word and deed we deprive ourselves from:
Astaghfirullāh

For choosing vengeance over forgiveness:
Astaghfirullāh
For lack of patience when calamity strikes:
Astaghfirullāh

The Ascetic & The Lover

In the time of ignorance,
an utterance of Truth appears as a blade to the open neck
But the Truth is not shy
When has the bat ever extinguished the Sun
by recoiling to its cave?

The Truth is Everliving,

No number of closed eyes can chase it
How long will this stumbling last,
until the ray rejoins the Sun?

The Soul floated to this temporal world

as a visiting radiant speck
The beam in the Sea is but a visitor,
its departure is imminent
And the Sea shall then dry up
and return to the Skies from whence it came.

So tell me then
who really amongst its travellers is a dweller?
The breath of the Soul is aspiration to Truth,
and life is in its edging closer to it
Its death is in stagnation
brought about by the ego’s veils.

So run to the Light, your Soul will thank you,

and the Spring breezes
Shall return to air out
the stifling darkness of idleness and apathy

59
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

This world is a sea,

and to be saved you have but two options
Your limbs must either keep moving towards the Light
until you reach the surface face up
Or you must let go completely,
but still to breathe you must face Skyward
When has life ever been found
deeper in the freezing, murky, emtpy sea of this lower world?

Rise above.

The swimmer is the ascetic,

and his path is arduous but rewarding
The floating one is the lover,
and his path is the swiftest and most noble.

O Allāh - convey blessings and peace upon Your Most Beloved

And count us as his lovers, in this life and in the Next.

Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

O Ḥusayn! Have They Overlooked Your Victory?

Love for the sake of Allāh is measured not by passion
For even the wicked can mimic zeal
No, this love is a silent storm that churns in the chest
And its waves are the emulation of the Pious
O Ḥusayn! They grieve, but have they overlooked your victory?
They grieve your death
But have they overlooked your life?
Fight them until there is no more fitnah
and Religion is professed only for Allāh (2:193)
The transgressors willed to kill al-Ḥusayn
They want to extinguish the light of Allāh with their mouths,
but Allāh will perfect His light,
although the disbelievers dislike it (61:8)
But al-Ḥusayn was the Light
that chased injustice out of its darkness
And was made plain to see!
The transgressors willed to kill al-Ḥusayn
And do not speak of those who are slain in Allāh’s way as dead;
Nay, they are alive, but you do not perceive (2:154)
Verily, only those blinded to this manifest victory believe he is dead
Blind, like those who professed:
We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary,
the messenger of Allāh
they slew him not nor crucified him,
but it appeared so unto them (4:157)
But al-Ḥusayn is not dead to the lovers of Allāh
How can it be so?

61
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Justice belongs to Allāh,

and al-Ḥusayn is a ray of Justice
and Allāh is the Eternally-Living
but the righteous works
provide an eternal recompense from your Lord,
and a far better hope. (18:46)
O Man, do not be like the one
who shuts his eyes before the Sun
Alive through his sacrifice,
through his deeds and progeny
Alive through his righteousness before corruption
Alive through his Sword of Truth
and fitnah is worse than killing (2:191)
There is no space for Shī a nor Sunnī
in the hearts of true lovers
The lover sees naught but the Light and that is his guide
O lovers of Muḥammad and his Sanctified Progeny
Unite under his Praised Banner, and do not be divided!
Time is short and distractions are many
Surely, we can agree on our love for Muḥammad !
And that is the least we can do for his plea to be united!
Verily, the hearts of Muḥammad’s true lovers tremble in love
Even when his name reaches them
from upon the tongue of the enemy
So give up not that priceless love for an unfair trade
Verily, love for him and love for his lovers are coexistant
So separate not the two unjustly!
O Allāh - upon Muḥammad
convey your utmost peace and blessings
And upon his brother in Allāh,
Alī, convey your utmost peace and blessings
And upon his precious daughter, Fāṭima,
convey your utmost peace and blessings
O Allāh - convey your utmost peace and blessings
upon al-Ḥassan and al-Ḥusayn

62
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

And deliver us from the oppressors,

within and without, on this day
As You delivered Mūsā from Fir aun
And You delivered Ādam from his sin
As You delivered Nūḥ from the Sea of ignorance
As You delivered Ibrāhīm from Nimrod
As You delivered Isā from the Devils wanting to crucify him
As You delivered Your Beloved, Muḥammad, from the Quraysh
O Allāh - bless our Prophet and all prophets with a prayer of peace
And grant us benefit and Mercy through their mention!

Celebrate Ḥusayn

His victory outweighed his pain
His legacy blessed by Mercy’s rain
For his Noble Soul was never slain
O believer: celebrate Ḥusayn

al-Muṣṭafā’s blood flows in the vein

Of the victor of this just campaign
He faced his killer with no complaint
O believer: celebrate Ḥusayn

A rank that none else can attain

From pre-Eternity ordained
His blessed memory remains
O believer: celebrate Ḥusayn

Worth more than Dunyā and what it contains

The courage beneath this lion’s mane
Chivalry is this noble man’s domain
O believer: celebrate Ḥusayn

If we could muster up even a grain

Of the magnanimity he sustained
We would spend less time with these complaints
And we would celebrate Ḥusayn

O my brother: tend to restraint

Stay alert faced with the mundane
Look to a master of this terrain
O believer: celebrate Ḥusayn

The Praiser

O seeker make your existence an exegesis of “alḥamdulillāh”
Praise be to Allāh
Praise, direct praise, and praise through means
Lillāh, to Allāh, to Whom all praise returns
All praise returns to Allāh
Direct praise, praise be to You
O Only One worthy of Praise
Indirect praise, praise be to You
Through the accepted Praiser of You
Whom You have Praised
Above all those praised
And none is praised except
Through His Praise of him
And thus he is, the Most Praised
Every Praise of creation
Extends from this Divine Praise of him
For every good in creation
Is manifest through this Most Praised Light He Created
This Possessor of the Most Praised Station
And there is no good in creation but His Praise
And every praise is in reality Praise of Him
All Praise returns to Him
O seeker, praise the Only one Praised
Through he whose praise is accepted
Every prayer is answered through his name
Thus every praise is accepted through his name
And his name is Muḥammad

65
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Which means the Most Praised

And none from creation can praise the Lord
As the Most Praised can praise Him
And none can praise the Most Praised
As the Lord can Praise him
So in that is a subtle secret
For those with understanding
Praise with your tongue
But do not be veiled from praising with your limbs
Praise Him through what He has Praised
Praise with your intentions
Praise with your praising of His Praise of the Most Praised
And praise
With your praising of the Most Praised's Praising of Him
For there is no accepted praise
Except through the intercession of his praising
For, the “Lā Ilāha Illa Allāh”
There is No Deity but Allāh
Is not accepted without
“Muḥammadun Rasūl Allāh ”
His Messenger is ‘the Most Praised'
So your praise of Allāh, O seeker
Is dependant upon your affirming of His Unity
And your affirming of His Unity
Is dependant upon your acceptance
And therefore, your praise
Of the one He Praised
And named the Most Praised
So how can your praise of Allāh be accepted
Without your praising of the Most Praised ?
Praise be to Allāh
For the praiseworthy traits
The Most Praised is dressed with
May the Praise of Allāh be forever upon
His Most Praised

66
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Whose very existence

Is Praise of Allāh
And Allāh’s Praise of him
And there is no praise of Allāh
Like the Praise He has Praised Himself with
And He has Praised Himself
With His Praising of the Most Praised
And there is no accepted praising of Allāh
Without the praising of His Most Praised
Praise be to Allāh
Through the Existence and Tongue of the Most Praised
O Allāh – may Your Praise
Peace and blessings
Be forever upon Your Most Praised
And upon those Praised by You
Through their connection with
And therefore praise, of the Most Praised
His Most Praised Family
Praised above all other praised families
And his Most Praised Companions
Praised above all other praised Companions
And his Most Praised Beloved Followers
Praised above all other praised beloved followers
And the reality of their Praise is single
And all Praise returns to Whom Praise Originates from
And may His Name be Praised
And may His Most Praised be praised
By the number of Praisers that have Praised Him
Animate and inanimate
And by the Strength and Duration of His Eternal Praise.

O Land of Allāh's Elect Ones

What an exquisite body of land the Lord has spread
O Land of Allāh's Elect Ones
What can be said
About a land
That was granted as a refuge
To the Great Grandson
of the Pole of Creation himself
What can be said
About a land
Whose Earth cradles in its womb
Mountains amongst the Awliya
A land where the seekers
Are intoxicated by the fragrant breeze of Madīnah
O Maghrib
Blessed you are
And blessed are your people
May we be welcomed into your arms
And may your land be folded
Such that there is no distance
Between us and His Lovers and Friends
Such that not a single step is taken by us
Except by their side
O Allāh – protect us in our journeys
And protect the Family we leave behind us
Enter us into the sphere of Your Safety and Mercy
Enter us into the sphere of Your Peace and Wisdom
Enter us into the sphere of Your Light and Guidance

68
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

O Allāh – make this a journey of Holy Openings

May our hearts receive those Secrets
that join us with Your Beloved
May they be breathed into our hearts,
O Generous One
May our every step be guided
and may our glance be protected
May our minds be at peace
and may our hearts be tranquil
May our Witnessing of You be untainted
May our Love for You and our reaching to You
be sincere and fruitful
And never do You turn one away from Your Door
So, O Lord of my Soul and of every created being
Grant me through this journey
Knowledge that benefits
Knowledge that grants Your Proximity
Knowledge that leads to Your Pleasure
and Eternal Acceptance
O Allāh – join my Soul and that of Your Prophet
In this life, the Barzakh and Hereafter
Keep us close to Your Elect Ones
Keep us close to Your Lovers
Give us a portion of their states
Give us a portion of their knowledge
Give us a portion of their love
And accept this journey
as one purely for Your Sake
Seeking Your Bountiful Countenance
Seeking Your Pleasure and Proximity
O Shakūr, O Karīm – open our visions
To the countenance of Your Beloved One
And keep us in his midst
Under his gaze
Under his banner

69
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

O Most Merciful One

Cleanse our hearts
And let this journey not end
But that You have effaced our every sin
Elevated our station closer to Your Beloved Prophet
And given us the best of destiny and protected us from its worst
O Allāh – guide our hearts
Guide our limbs
Guide our tongues
Guide our silence
O Allāh – put patience into my limbs
Wisdom and light into my words
Life and vision into my heart
O Allāh – give us that which the Prophet wants for us
And bless him and give him peace
By the amount of odd and even numbers
From the Day of Creation to the Day of Reckoning
Every day a thousand times

Caught in His Net

Lamenting sighs
Of lovers departing
The City of Light
Piercing my heart
My body craving
Proximity to the Dweller
Beneath that Green Dome
No my heart is too weak
And this Light has engulfed it
And these steps away
From its home is just
Barely less than torture
I am a simple man
With simple words
And a simple love
But I am caught in the net
Of Muḥammad the Beloved of God
Nothing pains my heart quite like
Stepping away from your Golden Gates
O Muḥammad have Mercy on me
And you are for it
Be with me then in Spirit
O Allāh - you know my state
And my weakness is made plain
So - O God - make swift my return
And for every sincere lover
Whose heart burns as mine

71
Muhammad: The Divine Masterpiece

Fragile but unrelenting

Wind this flame - O lover
For your life is in this burning
O Allāh - send your peace and blessings
Upon this Light my heart weeps for
Upon this Beloved my tears seep for
Upon Muḥammad
O Muḥammad
Take us by the hand
Now and forever
And may this burning love
Live on for Eternity
