GENERAL
The technical staff of MK Marine Services Ltd. comprises Naval Architects and
Marine Engineers, Superintendent Engineers while several other marine surveyors,
specialists and experts are also employed. Furthermore, close ties are maintained with the
academic community. The firm also maintains a network of associates, naval architects and ship
surveyors, at major Greek ports and several other ports worldwide.
MK Marine Services Ltd. keeps abreast of developments in the marine industry and
strives to serve the needs of its clients through cost effective implementation of applicable
standards for design, construction and maintenance of ships. The firm’s growth has been built
on long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with its customers
– many of whom represent the world’s leading ship management companies – thus adding
commercial understanding to its technical capabilities.
In general, the firm’s activities are grouped under the following department & sub-

The firm aims at developing a vessel which will satisfy the client’s requirements within the
given budget restrictions. To achieve this, use is made of the firm’s experience with numerous
newbuildings and conversions covering a wide range of vessel types such as General Cargo
Ships, Bulk Carriers, Product & Chemical Tankers, Container Vessels, Passenger Ships, Ro-Ro

Ferries, etc. The firm has undertaken the complete design, specification review and plan
approval of almost all types of tankers, container ships and bulk carriers. Numerous
conversions of single hull to double hull tankers, product to chemical tankers, bulk carriers to
tankers and tankers to ore / bulk carriers have also been successfully carried out. Services also
include preparation of tender documents, tender evaluation, contract negotiation, liaison with
the Classification Society and Flag Administration, etc. In the Mega-yacht sector the firm has
undertaken several new- buildings and demanding conversions.
Technical Support
• Preparation of technical manuals, plans, calculations and studies for Class or Flag
Administration approval (Trim & Stability Booklets, Loading Manuals, Damage Stability
Booklets, Tonnage Measurements, etc.)

The firm’s experienced surveyors are in a position to conduct almost all kinds of inspections on
vessels and their machinery or equipment. The firm has been authorized by various Flag
Administrations to carry out Flag Safety Inspections. It cooperates with all major banks
involved in shipping and its reports are widely accepted. Furthermore, it is appointed as
claims investigator by some of the major Insurance companies. Services include:

Incident investigations
The firm has been appointed by various parties to survey and audit vessels. Services

• Auditing ships’ operators
• Ships’ vetting on behalf of Oil Majors and Rightship
• Drafting of vetting Policy & Procedures for controlled fleets
• Research, evaluation and investigation of environmental effects from the operation of Oil
Terminals and Oil tankers
• Compilation of Port Information & Jetty Regulations Manuals for marine terminals

Nicholas Mitroulis
Naval Architect & Marine Engineer (University of Newcastle Upon Tyne BSc, MSc), Managing
Director & Head of the Technical Department with significant experience in newbuildings and
conversions, especially of General Cargo Ships to Cement Carriers, Single Hull to Double
Hull Tankers and VLCCs to VLOCs. Project Manager for various research projects. Memebr of
SNAME & RINA.
George Kossyvas
Mechanical Engineer, Managing Director and Head of the safety Department with significant
experience in management and maintenance of Mega Yachts & Small Crafts.
Our office in China (Shanghai Pudong Area) is dealing with Major Conversions, and New
Building Supervision. Mr. James Yin Naval Architect & Marine Engineer is a full member and
partner of the MK Marine, and he is the link of our company to Far East.
