A recent court ruling in favor of eight public


school districts that received less funding from
motor vehicle tax distributions in 2016 will
impact Craig County schools.
The Oklahoma Tax Commission overpaid
$23 million to 146 school districts in 2016, but
underpaid 271 others, with revenues collected
through motor vehicle taxes that were incor-
rectly distributed, according to commission
ÀJXUHV
A coalition of eight school districts that
were underpaid, led by Sand Springs of
Tulsa County and Midwest City-Del City of
Oklahoma County, won a judgment against
the tax commission, but correcting the im-
proper tax distributions means that districts
that were overpaid in 2016 will now get less in
2019 as a corrective measure.
In mid-November, Oklahoma County
District Court Judge Patricia Parrish ordered
the Oklahoma Tax Commission to withhold
