5. Minimum fresh air to be provided as per Ashrae standards

5. Reference Standards:
Following standard & guidelines shall be adopted while designing the HVAC system.

5.1.1 National Building Code of India (NBC) 2005

5.1.3 ASHRAE Hand Books.
Fundamentals 2009
HVAC Systems and Equipment 2008
HVAC Applications 2007
Refrigeration 2006
5.1.4 Duct construction standards as per relevant BIS Codes & SMACNA standards
5.1.5 Air filters as per ASHRAE 52.1-1992 and 52.2-2007

6. Design Proposal Options Analyzed

1. Conventional system
2. Air to air Heat Exchanger with PAC machines
3. IEC proposal with PAC machines. (Eliminated from detailing since client does not want to
use water spray on the secondary side of the PHE)
After done the analysis between conventional system and heat exchanger we could
save only Rs.3.5 Million/year whereas our capital investment cost is RS 274.5 million.
Comparing with capital investment our cost savings/year is not valuable. So we have
concluded with client acceptance to go with conventional system with PAC
machines.

7. Conventional system – Design Proposal.

1. Cold isle containment system to be followed.

2. Supply air to be at 22 +/- 1 deg C

3. 750mm raised insulated floor to be used as a supply plenum and the plenum to be maintained at 6 Pascal positive

pressure

4. Floor tiles both active and passive will be used to supply the air from the plenum in to the contained cold isle

5. Cold Isle to be maintained at a positive pressure of 6 Pascal using variable speed fans in the AHUs and fan aided tiles

6. Hot air collected from the higher level is passed through special filters to reduce degassing and avoid gaseous

contaminants

7. This hot air is passed through the hot aisle plenum and re circulating the return air to PAC units through return air

plenum.

8. Necessary fire dampers will be provided.

9. Each floor rack area consists of 2 nos MSR and 2 nos MCR with partitions on the above floor level .However false

floor is common for both the rooms.

10. Bothe the floors racks rooms will be considered as two wing ,half of the wing will be handled by one set of machines

with N+1 redundancy+4 filter machines and another half of the wing will be handled by another set of machines with

N+1 redundancy+4 filter machines.

11. Bothe the wings false floor shall be segregated by fire tight partition.
8. Total Load summery:

A. Total Equipment load Summery = 4229 KW

By considering 100% heat dissipation total heat load =1205 TR

B. Total Rack room Sensible load = 15 TR
