Hi All,

Data Validation Manager is a Business Service which can validate Business

Component's Data base on set of rules. In the case of a rule violation, a custom
error message appears. In Addition you can also set a Constant value to the
fields in BC when the rule is Violated.DVM can be used without requiring
extensive Siebel Tools configuration.it reduces the need for custom scripts and
does not require the deployment of a new SRF.

Small Example for DVM.

Requirement:
eMail Field should not be empty in Contact Applet.

Things to do
1. Create a Validation Message
2. Create A DVM Rule Set (Calls Validation Message)
3. Create a Action Set (Calls DVM)
4. Create Runtime Event (Calls Action Set)

1. Create a Validation Message

Go to -Administration - Data Validation->Validation Messages

Create a record as shown in the below screen shot

2. Create A DVM Rule Set (Calls Validation Message)

Go to -Administration - Data Validation->Rule Sets

Create a record as shown in the below screen shot

Need to Activate the DVM after creation

3. Create a Action Set (Calls DVM)

Goto Administration - Runtime Events->Action Sets

Create a record as shown in the below screen shot

4. Create Runtime Event (Calls Action Set)

Goto Administration - Runtime Events->Events

Create a record as shown in the below screen shot

Dont Forget to Activate DVM and Reload Runtime Events as shown in the above
screen shots.

Shekar, that was a nice post...but you lost me a bit on the creating Step 3 -
Creation of Action Sets.

It keeps asking me for the Business Service Name. Am i supposed to write a

blank BS in order to make this work...I am a lil confused..Can you please help
me out?

"Define Run Time Events to trigger this rule. Create a runtime event and define
the action set as follows and activate the action set by reloading the rules.
Business Service Name :Data Validation Manager

Business Service Method:Validate

Business Service Context: "Rule Set Name", "Account Validation", "Enable Log",
"Y" "

Just make sure to change in the business context "Account Validation" with
your own value.
