MEMDOS LB - motor-driven diaphragm dosing pumps 4 – 1,020 l/h, up to 16 bar
The motor-drive diaphragm dosing pump MEMDOS LB stands for robust •• Output range from 4 – 1,020 l/h, up to 16 bar
quality and reliable dosing results. A selection of different motors for •• Power supply 115 V, 230 V or 400 V
explosive risk zones rounds off the range. •• Material finishes PVC, PP, PVDF and stainless steel
The performance ranges from 0 – 4 up to 0 – 156 l/h for the first size, and •• Infinitely variable stroke frequency from 0 – 100 %
0 – 114 up to 0 – 1,020 l/h for the second size. The maximum permitted •• A variety of three-phase and alternating current motors
pressure, depending on the size, is between 3 and 16 bar. •• ATEX versions are available for Zones 1 and 2
Thanks to the sturdy tappet drive with manual or automatic capacity •• Also suitable for frequency converter operation
adjustment, the conveyed media such as acids, lyes, coagulants and •• Double-diaphragm system (optional)
flocculants are dosed reliably and precisely.
•• Automatic stroke length adjustment (optional)
On request, the MEMDOS LB pumps can also be supplied with a
double-diaphragm system. Then uncontrolled leakage of media is avoided
even if the dosing diaphragm wears out.
The MEMDOS LB is used when the integration of the pump into controls or
control circuits is required.
For constant dosing without a controller, the motor of MEMDOS LB is
directly connected to the terminal box. A great variety of three-phase and
single-phase motors is available for this purpose.
To adapt the dosing capacity, either the stroke length can be adjusted
mechanically or the speed of the three-phase motor can be regulated by
means of a separate frequency converter.

Delivery characteristic curves
These delivery capacities were determined on the manufacturer's test stands. They apply at 20 °C (68 °F) for water, at 100 % stroke frequency. The
delivery capacity depends on the medium (density and viscosity) and temperature. Since these conditions vary at every installation location, you should
calibrate the dosing pump.

Features
Know your flow
All the flow meters are equipped with a double scale: a percentage scale as well as a scale for the flow volume in l/h
for water (H2 O). Special scales are on offer for m³/h, GPM, in addition to special graduations for HCL, NaOH, air and can
be affixed on taper tubes without scales subsequently. Measuring accuracy falls in the accuracy class 4 according
to VDE/VDI 3513 Part 2.

Limit contacts
Variable area flow meters from George Fischer are
equipped with two dovetail shafts. For external electrical
monitoring, these can be used for fitting magnetically
actuated limit contacts.
Function of the limit contact (GK)
The limit contact serves to monitor
externally the limited flow values and Connection: Standard plug DIN 40050

a bistable switching function because
the switching status remains when the
float is taken from the contact. For use with inductive loads, use a relay to protect

The limit contacts GK10/ GK11 are The Sensor GK15 is developed from the measurement
only suitable for the VAFM type 335/ sensor GK05. Other than the old model, no reed-

min. and max. levels (GK 10min / GK11 output signal of 4 - 20 mA, according to the level setting
max). of the magnetic float in the flow meter. This signal could
be used by a SPS to control processes or to show the
precise flow-rate on an external display.

Use this chart to adjust the displayed values for liquid media of your flow meter, if the specific media gravity
(1.0 kg/l (water)) differs from the underlying specific gravity at calibrating time.
Example:
Specific gravity at calibration 1.0 kg/l.The liquid media
with a specific gravity of 0.9 kg/l is to be measured.
If you have a calibrating solution of 1.0 kg/l you take
in line five the factor 1.06. The values shown by the
flow meter have to be multiplied by this factor so the
actual flow volume at a specific gravity of 0.9 can be
calculated.

New density is higher: factor <1

The typical acceleration and deceleration of media displaced by dosing •• Stroke volume 15 – 1200 ml/stroke

lines may damage the dosing pump. Furthermore damaging pulsations
occurring in piping systems may also lead to destruction of the equipment. Technical data
Flow meters require a rather uniform flow for perfect function. Float ele-
ment flow meters cannot be installed at all on the discharge side of dosing
pumps without special precautions, because the float element would move PDS 80 250 750 2500 7500

Shutoff, back-pressure and pressure relief valves
Back-pressure and pressure-relief valves are fittings for dosing systems •• Output range from 75 – 1500 l/h, up to 250 bar
Depending on the task involved, they are used to increase the dosing •• Deployment in a potentially explosive atmosphere is possible
accuracy or to protect the system against excess pressure. If the delivery (spring-loaded seat valve DN6 200 bar and DN10 250 bar)
pressure is higher than the dosing pressure, dosing without a back-pres- •• Assembly in any installation location (only spring-loaded seat valves

With the dosing of fluids, back-pressure valves generate a defined back •• Installation of a pressure-relief valve with return to the dosing tank
pressure on the pressure side of a dosing pump. possible
This is required in the following cases:
•• Strongly fluctuating pressure. Exact dosing results are impossible
without a back-pressure valve.
•• The pressure on the suction side is higher than on the pressure side.
•• Dosing in a pressureless line is required.
Pressure relief valves have an important safety function for protecting the
dosing pump and the associated pipes and fittings. The dosing pump can
generate a pressure that is many times the rated one.
Various reasons, e.g. soiling or operating errors can result in blocked
pressure lines. At an appropriate pressure, a pressure relief valve opens a
bypass line and protects the system in this way from damage caused by
over-pressure.
A shutoff valve (A) enables the dosing system to separate the non-return
valve from the pressurized system.
The shutoff valve enables the maintenance of the non-return valve after
separation from the system and should be closed before longer down
times because the leak-free nature of the non-return valve could be
restricted through soiling particles or wear.

Dirt Trap
Dirt Trap
General
For safety reasons, pumps in general and metering
pumps in particular should be fitted with a dirt trap in
the suction pipe. The dirt trap prevents blocking of
the valve function by floating elements and fluffs. It
can also be used for the motive water supply of a
chlorination plant. In this case a dirt trap must be
provided if the ejector is fed directly and without other
fittings with the motive water (e.g. pressure reducer
combined with dirt trap).

here and in plastic as shown on the next page.

Attention!
The dirt trap has to be assembled in such a
way that in case of disassembling the
accumulated dirt cannot fall back into the pipe.
