Five Best Base Camp Treks in Pakistan- Karakoram

1. K2 Base Camp Trek:
K2 Base Camp Trek also known as Mount Godwin-Austen or Chhogori, at 8,611 meters
(28,251 ft) above sea level, is the second highest mountain in the world, after Mount
Everest at 8,848 meters (29,029 ft). It is located on the China–Pakistan border between
Baltistan in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of northern Pakistan, and the Taxkorgan Tajik
Autonomous County of Xinjiang, China.K2 is the highest point of the Karakoram Range and
the highest point in both Pakistan and Xinjiang.
2. Concordia Base Camp Trek:
Concordia K2 Trek, K-2 is located in the heart of the Karakoram Range and can be seen in
its entirety from Concordia. This sublime pyramid sits at the head of the Godwin Austin
Glacier which unites with a second glacier at Concordia to form the mighty Baltoro Glacier.
The trek is graded 'Tough' (Activity Level 7) with 13 days walking to a maximum altitude
of 4,500m at Concordia (5,120m Gilkey Memorial just below K2 Base Camp and an average
of 3,650m.
3. Gondogoro La Base Camp Trek:
Gondogoro Pass is a 5585 meter high mountain pass in the Baltistan region of Pakistan 25
km south of the world's second-highest peak, K2. It connects the Gondogoro Glacier on
the southwest and the Vigne Glacier on the northeast.
4. Snow Lake Biafo Hisper La Base Camp Trek:
Snow lake Biafo Hisper La Trek or Lukpe Lawo, is a high-altitude glacial basin in the
Karakoram mountain range in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of northern Pakistan. It is not a
lake, despite its name. Snow Lake is located 16,000 feet above sea level, and is
approximately 10 miles wide. As this region is so remote it serves as the last stronghold for
many animal including Himalayan bear, ibex, markhor and the snow leopard. Towering
high above Biafo and Hispar glaciers are jagged peaks, these include Kanjut Sar (7,760m),
Distaghil Sar (7885 m.)
5. Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II Base Camp Trek:
Gasherbrum I surveyed as K5 and also known as Hidden Peak, is the 11th highest mountain
in the world at 8,080 meters (26,510 ft) above sea level. It is located on the Pakistani–
Chinese border in Gilgit–Baltistan region of Pakistan and Xinjiang region of China.
Gasherbrum I is part of the Gasherbrum massif, located in the Karakoram region of the
Himalaya. Gasherbrum II surveyed as K4 is the 13th highest mountain in the world at 8,035
meters (26,362 ft) above sea level.
