³I am a young person and I run an environmental pressure group´ said Tamsin Omond the founder of
Climate Rush and one of countless young people who took part in an event this Sunday on London¶s
Southbank organised by youth led Charity the Young Achievers Trust.

The event celebrated the positive impact the vast majority of young people are making to
communities they live in. Young people were invited to make a pledge or write down something they
already do to help the communities they live in. Activities carried out by young people included
organising a green renewably powered arts festival and putting on a charity fundraising concert with
many of the pledges focusing around environmental issues such as recycling more and having
shorter showers to save water.

c! " Trustee for the Young Achievers Trust said ³This event demonstrates the great
contribution young people are making to local communities through traditional volunteering, local
activism and grassroots projects they have started themselves. Hopefully events like ours will work
towards changing perceptions of young people and how they are portrayed by sections of the media´.

The Young Achievers Awards recognise young volunteers, activists and social entrepreneurs aged
between 16 and 25, who have achieved something special through their volunteering in, community,
art, environment or sports, c

including photography, branding, fundraising, marketing, journalism and judging. The Trust is unique
