1 Objective

This document presents the general procedure equipment, accommodation and


environment.

2 Acronym

MRB : Malaysian Rubber Board


PT : Proficiency Testing

3 Scope

This procedure covers all appropriate conditions to ensure PT activities are reliable.
These include the laboratory’s:

3.1 Accommodation (e.g. location);

3.2 Environmental conditions (e.g. temperature, cleanliness); &

3.3 Accessibility to and security of the laboratory & equipment.

4 Accommodation and Facilities

4.1 The PT laboratory has been suitably and appropriately located at premise
within the organisation.

4.2 Effective separation between incompatible and adjacent activities has been
placed in the laboratory, facilities, equipment, etc. These includes facilities and
equipment for proficiency test item manufacturing, handling, calibration,
testing, storage and dispatch, data processing, communications, and for
retrieval of materials and records.

4.3 All necessary facilities within the laboratory are adequate, suitable and
properly maintained to provide PT activities efficiently.

4.4 Performance characteristics of laboratory methods and equipment that are


used to confirm the content, homogeneity and stability of proficiency testing
items are validated and maintained through the ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation
status of the laboratory.

5 Environmental Conditions

5.1 The PT laboratory is kept clean and conducive.

5.2 For the storage of sample, the environmental conditions including temperature
and humidity are monitored & recorded. (Refer to PTP-15-F01). The
monitoring is carried out every 2 weeks.

5.3 Where required, other environmental conditions affecting the quality of the PT
items are monitored, controlled and recorded.

5.4 Environmental conditions that significantly influence the quality of the


proficiency test items including conditions that are required by relevant
specifications and measurement procedures is identified though scientific
research in relevant areas or products.

5.5 When the environmental conditions jeopardize the quality or the operations of
the proficiency testing scheme, the relevant proficiency testing activities shall
be stopped and remarked in the PTP-15-F01 accordingly.

5.6 Effective separation between neighbouring areas in which there are


incompatible activities are carried out by separating it according to the nature
of the relevant proficiency test samples.
