[1] The dangers of letting your children watch too much television should not be underestimated ! Research has shown that children who watch
between two and four hours of TV daily are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure which can in the long term lead to heart problems and even
strokes when they are older.
[2] Some health commentators say that children who watch a lot of TV are also far more likely to be exposed to television advertisements which
promote junk food and other unhealthy types of food. Also these children can become overweight due to lack of phsical exercising. Therefore, parents
should limit the amount of television that they allow their children to watch every day and make sure that they get some physical exercise in their free time
as well. The first two years of a child’s life are very significant for brain development. TV and other electronic media can get in the way of exploring,
playing, interacting with people, and other activiies and habits which encourage learning and healthy physical and social development. As kids get older, too
much TV time can interfere with their important activities of being physically active, reading, doing homework, playing with friends, and spending time
with family.
[3] Of course, television, in moderation, can be a positive thing: Very young children can learn the alphabet on public television, older children can
learn about wildlife on nature shows, and parents can keep up with current events on the evening news. No doubt about it — TV can be an excellent educator
and entertainer.
