Goddess Kateri Amman

Kateri is the ancient dravidian goddess name who is named after her quality to
quash the evil. The word Kateri came from two
words kata + Hari which means she is the goddess which removes the obstacles. Kata=
Obstacle Hari= remover. Devottee reach
out to her when progress of their life is declining. She is called as Raktha
Chamunda or Raktha danthikaa. As per below
She is often praised as Rakthadanthika who is well praised in Durga Sapthsathi as
follows

Rakthambharaa rakthavarnaa raktha sarvaanga bhooshanaa |


Rakthaayudhaa raktha nethraa rakthakesaathibheeshana ||

Raktha theeksha nakhaa raktha dashanaa raktha danthikaa |


pathim naareevaanarukthaa devee bhaktham bhajejjanam ||

Khadgam paathram cha musalam laangalam cha bibharthi saa |


Akhyaatha raktha Chamundaa devee yogeshwareethithaa ||

Goddess Kateri or Raktha Chamunda is the fierce aspect of devi known for killing
the evil. SHe protects her devotee from
all the ten directions. Whoever reads or meditates on above kateri amman as per
aboce dhyana sloka will be cured of all evils.
But in some areas she is depicted in back colour confirming her sister aspect og
Goddess Kali.She is said to be originated
from Goddess Mari Amman the Head of all Gods in Dravidian cult. In her most
benovolent form Kateri rides a horse with smiling
face holding a sharp sword showing her brilliance and other hand blessing the
devotee. In this form she is also called as
Mangala Mari. May goddess Kateri bless all you with good health and welfare.
