ARTICLE- Trinity ISE III Reading into Writing

words) about the following topic:”Nowadays, it’s commonplace to see lone drivers”

 Palabras clave y sinónimo: “nowadays” (currently, presently, in today’s world), “lone
driver” (drivers without a companion, driving alone, commute by car without
passengers, etc.)

Esquema:

1º Esquema contenido
(no necesariamente debería separarse por ventajas 2º Palabras clave
y desventajas)

Pros: Conectores Palabras

Cons: Reluctance

Conclusión imparcial Enormously Unbearable
*En caso de que se pida en el enunciado By and large Traffic fumes, smog
 Menciona ciertos datos/estadísticas: However Convenience
 Reportedly By the same token Carpool
 With estimated Spur into actions
 The figures hit a peak/ hit a low Adverbios Encourage
 Over, nearly, aprox., roughly, etc. Conectores
 To see a decline/ a raise Palabras útiles..
 To rank the highest/lowest
 To be far ahead of

frase llamativa. Por ejemplo:
- Driving alone or carpooling?
- The cost of driving alone
- Drive wisely
4º Paso: empieza a redactar
Ejemplo:

The cost of driving alone

(Introducción:)
“It’s a fact that nowadays a large number of the commuters drive to their workplace in
their privately-owned vehicles. According to a traffic study, in 2016, Spanish drivers
spend almost 62% of their time commuting alone and waste an average of 17 hours
due to traffic congestion, with Madrid and Barcelona at the top of the list. How much
CO2 emissions could have been avoided?”

(Ventajas:)
“Driving alone is pretty convenient. No need to stand crowded buses, hectic
undergrounds or poor transit. Even though a season ticket costs less than your tank
refill a month, a 30€ difference is not enough to shift commuters preferences on their
own.

No brainer, there are some appealing perks for a single-occupant auto: one is not
being worried about having to do everything perfectly and not be bothered to talk when
they don’t feel like. As a consequence, there is certainly a spread reluctance among
drivers to have other passengers.”

(Desventajas:)
“But here’s the trouble: whether one likes it or not, pollution is still a very ignored
concept in the modern world. For our convenience’ sake, when driving on our own we
unknowingly create a big impact on the environment. Motor vehicles are a major
source of smog, which is a mixture of air pollutants including vapours, gases and
particles. This makes our day-to-day journey a highly air-polluting activity. Polluted air
particles can contribute to breathing and heart problems along with an elevated risk of
cancer.

In light of this worldwide issue, a number of initiatives and practices have appeared in
recent years aimed at alleviating traffic fumes emission while providing travel
alternatives that are economic and less contaminating. Carpooling is on the ball. Plenty
of environmental agencies encourage using it and governments worldwide spur us into
actions as well. By sharing your car, you not only curtail greenhouse gas emissions but
also expenses by sharing the fuel and parking cost.”

(Conclusión:)
“Our personal transportation choices have a huge impact on air quality. What we drive
and how we drive impacts the environment. Remember: drive wisely.”
