Landmark Relationship receives “Super Partner” Award
TCS’ PSLV (Projects, Procurement, Sourcing &
Launching VAT) project team has recently received
‘Super Partner Award’ from Landmark Group. This
is in recognition of TCS’ significant contribution
towards automation of the Sourcing & Procurement
Process and VAT Returns Filing for the customer
across 2 countries, 26 Legal Entities, 900 Stores and
5000 + POS Systems.

The award was presented by Mr. Rajesh Garg, Group
CFO of Landmark Group, at a business meet held at
the Le Meridien, Fujairah, UAE, on 15th March 2018.
BSE Project receives “Certificate of Appreciation”
TCS’ GST project team was awarded a Certificate
of Appreciation from the Bombay Stock Exchange
(BSE) in recognition to their significant
contribution towards the successful implementation
in 23 Business Locations across different states,
including BSE’s Mumbai Headquarters.
The award was jointly presented by Mr. Ashish
Chauhan, CEO and MD, Bombay Stock
Exchange, Mr. Nayan Mehta, CFO, and Mr. Kersi
Tavadia CIO, at the Garware Sports Club,
Wankhede Stadium, on 9th March. Speaking during
the event, Mr. Kersi Tavadia, CIO, BSE, thanked
the TCS team for their innovation and relentless
support in executing the project successfully within
the stipulated timelines.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajesh Garg, CFO,
Landmark Group, thanked TCS team for their
Knowledge, Dedication, innovation and relentless
support in executing the project successfully within the
stipulated timelines. He mentioned that “in a multi-
vendor environment one vendor who stands out far
ahead of others, and dependable is TCS and they
deserve a special award from Landmark.”
The PSLV project was undertaken by Landmark Group
to ensure Non-Trade Spend Control, Process
Compliance, Streamlining of Retail Projects and VAT
enablement. The TCS team partnered with the customer
in establishing a Centralized Sourcing Hub, which
helped in the automation of the Sourcing & Procurement
process, facilitation of Straight-Through-Processing
of Quotes and establishing a Unified system for
managing Projects using Oracle Cloud. Additionally,
Oracle EBS, Cloud ERP, Oracle Retail Management &
POS systems were configured successfully for VAT
enablement
With the implementation of the PSLV project,
Landmark Group was able to file their first ever
automated VAT Return successfully and make
significant savings in Non-Trade spend.

frequently changing requirements. Bombay Stock
Exchange (BSE) is a marquee customer for TCS, and has
been partnering with us for almost a decade.
Ubiquitous Digital Connect…
Next time while booking your Ola cab on a
hot afternoon, imagine if instead of just seeing
the vehicle image move on your smartphone
screen, how nice it would have been if you
could also "see" whether the AC inside the
cab is on, thereby confirming the interior
temperature - in other words digitally
experiencing the physical attributes of the
vehicle? Would you not like that to happen
while sweating under the Sun? Well, this
scenario
will
become a
reality
soon
with the
concept
of Digital Twins in every digital service that
we subscribe to. In this case, Digital Twins
will be used for creating the virtual model of
a connected vehicle to capture its behavioral
and operational data and help in analyzing its
overall performance as well as connected
features. So, what is Digital Twin? It is a
working model, in silica, of the products and
processes being developed. Using a
combination of simulation, cloud, animation
and other connected technologies, Engineers
and R&D scientists can digitally visualize
exactly how their new products would come
to life without resorting to clay models and
prototypes!
Digital Twins is expected to reduce 50% of
product development time and costs in the
near future. While sales force and channel
partner productivity will be increased by 25-
30%, through the effective deployment of the
platform for training and support purposes.
Digital Twins will soon expand its reach
beyond the current context of more mission
critical and expensive assets, products and
constructions into more simple physical
products and services as technology costs
keep dropping and both the business rationale
and affordable technologies to do so come
closer. It will be used in building
management, healthcare, smart cities, oil and
gas, hazardous services and far more.
Increasingly advanced ways of product and
asset maintenance and management will be
done with a Digital Twin of the real "thing"
with real-time capabilities. Decisions can be
taken in complex environments like steam
turbines or nuclear reactors whereby Digital
Twins enable to optimize processes, reduce
fuel consumption, control virtually every

invented a device through which he can surf

Media Lab, demonstrated the efficacy of the
device he calls "Alter Ego" live in a recent TV

more interesting is the accuracy level. "We
demonstrate robustness of the system through
user studies and report 92% median word
accuracy levels" says the research paper.
Meanwhile, Amazon has announced a new
service that gives its couriers access to a
person's vehicle for leaving package
deliveries inside or in the trunk. Amazon is
launching this new service in partnership with
GM and Volvo. To access the new delivery
service, Customers need to add their car to the
Amazon Key App and include a description
of the vehicle, so Amazon's couriers will be
able to locate it. The car will need to be parked
within a certain radius of an address used for
Amazon deliveries. Driveways, parking lots,
parking garages, and street parking are all
eligible locations. To find the car, Amazon's
couriers will have access to its GPS location
and license plate number, as well as an image
of the car. An Amazon delivery person will
use their own device to verify they have found
the car, scan the package, and then request the
vehicle to be unlocked from the connected car
services. Over 7 million Chevy, Buick,
Cadillac, and GMC vehicles will now be
eligible for this new service from Amazon.
Volvo OnCall is a similar service that
provides subscribers with roadside assistance,
remote climate control, and the ability to lock
and unlock your car from wherever you are.
So, now all you need is the right car and the
willingness to let Amazon’s delivery
employees unlock your vehicle. And if you
aren't embarrassed by the empty beer cans and
smelly sport shoes in the trunk, Amazon’s
couriers won’t be either!

An inspiring routine of your day:
Most of my days start pretty early. I am an
early riser and I start my day at 6:30 AM. The
first thing I do is check my mails while
drinking a glass of warm water with lemon in
it. In spite of an overwhelming desire to attend
urgent work immediately, I ensure 20 minutes
of exercise for 4-5 days every week. I utilize
this time in prioritizing my day’s work and set
target.
I work from TCS Powai office @ Mumbai
when I am in town. By the time normal
business hours are underway, I like to stay on
course with prioritization and segregation
despite the pressure of a bursting Inbox. I like
to meet and greet associates while in office.
Taking occasional break is a crucial part of
my routine and I make it a point to go for
lunch with colleagues.
What core leadership value do you believe
in?
People are source of strength for any
organization while process & technology act
as enablers. We should focus on our strengths
rather than worrying too much about our
weaknesses. Life is full of uncertainties and
there is risk involved in everything, so no
point hesitating in trying something new.
What was your journey like to get where
you are today?
I started my journey with ILP in
Thiruvananthapuram which was a memorable
experience. My first project was assigned in a
domestic banking product development
group. After completion of my first

assignment, I played various roles working in
GE Group. I joined CRM Practice in Mumbai
in the year 2006. I became a part of the ISU at
the time of its formation, performing various
roles until 2010, subsequent to which I moved
into a new role within Enterprise Application
Services (erstwhile Enterprise Solutions). I
played various roles within Enterprise
Application Services during this time while
taking up the latest role in 2017.
Tell us something about your family…
There are six members in my family including
myself. My parents continue to inspire all of
us with their disciplined life. My spouse is a
working professional and we have two lovely
kids, a son and a daughter.
How your family has been your source of
strength?
Having spent my childhood in a joint family,
I have inherited many values and lessons of
co-existence, something which I have also
inculcated in my urban & professional life
style. I get great family support that keeps me
worry free while I am travelling or away from
home for a longer period of time. My family
is source of my strength. I love taking short
breaks with my family few times in a year.
How do you prioritize your time in your
hectic schedule to strike a balance between
work and family?
The definition of work life balance depends
upon an individual’s perspective. I prefer to
segregate my professional and personal life in
a manner so that I can provide undivided
attention to both. While at work, I am
completely focused on the same and I try to
ensure quality time with my family. The key
is to plan well to have best of both worlds.
If you had not been what you are today...
what would have been your alternate
career choice?
Mathematics & Physics have been two of my
favorite subjects. IT was not on my radar in
Engineering College, till I got an offer from
TCS in the campus recruitment drive.
However, post completion of my Engineering
project with TATA Motors, I aspired to join
one of the companies from the TATA group.
How would you want to be remembered?
Someone not afraid of trying, Someone not
afraid of learning, Someone not afraid of
failure, Someone not afraid of giving,
someone not afraid of being knocked down
(get up in ten seconds or less, like a boxer)
and last but not the least someone not afraid
of living!!

the Go-live of Oracle Financial Applications
R12.2.5, with GST Engine, hosted on TCS cloud.
This new Oracle R12 application platform
provides the following:

rates from Stock Markets
• Smart Dashboard for Treasury functions

As a part of Exadata Hardware Refresh Project, TCS received appreciations from several
MHE's EDW environments were migrated MHE executives including Lori Welsh

VAT Implementation @ MA'ADEN

AVAYA Network Business Migration
at Extreme Networks – Go Live
On April 09, 2018 Extreme Networks
successfully migrated the Network Business of
AVAYA to its own. The TCS Team delivered the
project within rigid timelines and received
multiple customer appreciations.
On 1st January, 2018, VAT applicability and
Returns Filing solution was successfully
implemented for MA’ADEN as per the reporting
requirements in Saudi Arabia. The solution
leverages Oracle E-Business Tax module and
encompasses all business transactions under the
9 affiliates of MA’ADEN.
Mr. Kobus Moolman, CAO, External
Reporting, MA’ADEN thanked TCS team for
their innovation and relentless support in
executing the project successfully within the
stipulated time.
MA'ADEN is a Saudi Arabia based mining
company head quartered in Riyadh.

Extreme Networks executed an Asset Purchase

Agreement (“APA”) with Avaya to acquire its
networking business for approximately $100
million. This is expected to yield annual revenue Johannesburg
in excess of $200 million.

TCS is the sole partner to Extreme Networks in The First Oracle Cloud Implementation in
this strategic initiative and was involved right University of Johannesburg
from assessment, budgeting, process re-design to
deployment.

Customers acknowledged that this to be the
seamless Go-Live ever in Extreme Networks. The
EVP, Finance of Extreme Networks, Drew Davis,
congratulated the team on the successful go live
and commented, “Great work everyone. Thank
you all for contributing to this project. This
integration is absolutely transformational for
Extreme Networks. Our success with this
integration makes us a much stronger company
for the future.”
TCS created history by successfully
implementing Oracle Goal and Performance
Management Cloud at University of
Johannesburg (UJ). This exciting initiative is a
key stepping stone for digital footprint at UJ and
the experience has helped customer define their
roadmap for cloud technologies. With this
implementation, UJ has successfully taken its
first steps on this journey.
UJ, a public university located in
Johannesburg, South Africa had decided to
implement its Goal and Performance
management system in Oracle Cloud. TCS was
selected as an implementation through a
lengthy and fiercely competed RFP process.
The program was executed in 4 months from
Johannesburg and Bhubaneswar.

Porto
Our next and final stop in Portugal was the vibrant city of Porto, Portugal’s
second largest metropolis, after Lisbon. A three hour drive by cab from
Lisbon to Porto took us through some of the most enthralling sights of the
Portuguese countryside. Lush green mountains, sometimes beaded with
tiny villages, daubed in early morning mist, left us mesmerized all
throughout the journey.

A heaven for book-lovers

Lisbon
Bright sunlight, bustling streets, beautiful buildings with facades
covered by glazed ceramic tiles – these were the sights that greeted me
when I stood in the balcony of the homestay that my friend and me
rented on our maiden trip to Lisbon, the hilly, coastal capital city of
Portugal. Having arrived by an early morning flight from Barcelona, we
still had some sleep left in us. But the resplendent sights outside invited
us to explore the city as much as we could.
Castelo de Sao Jorge
A short bus ride and a shorter walk thereafter through shimmering
cobbled lanes took us to Castelo de Sao Jorge or Saint George’s Castle,
an 11th century Moorish castle atop a hill, looking down over Lisbon and
the Tagus river. This imposing landmark can be seen from anywhere in
the city and is one of the most popular tourist attractions for its periscope
machine called Camera Obscura, providing a detailed 360 degree real-
time view of the city including its most emblematic areas and the
underground chambers with a small archaeological museum containing
Being an ardent lover of books, my top priority was Livraria Lello or the
Lello Bookstore of Porto. It was an article I had read earlier which made
me curious to visit the most beautiful bookstore in the world. I am glad I
did, for Livraria Lello is surely is the most enrapturing piece of architecture
ever built to befittingly house the sanctity of letters. The moment you enter
you are devoid of doubts as to why it is rumored to serve as an inspiration
to legendary library of Harry Potter. The exquisite neo-Gothic confection
has been in existence since 1906 with its emblematic forked crimson
staircase, the imposing ceiling with a stunning piece of stained glass at the
centre and intricate ornamentation present all throughout the shop.
A gastronomical ending
The way you cannot imagine Kolkata without its sweets, similarly you
cannot leave Porto without tasting its wine. Porto is home to what is called
the Port wine, an internationally renowned Portuguese dessert wine
produced along the Douro River which runs through the city and there are
pubs all throughout the city serving the best. We sat at one of these,
munching a popular local snack of codfish called Bolinho de Bacalhau and
relishing a glass of Port wine as the western sky got flushed in a crimson
hue.
Our stay in Portugal was coming to an end but we surely had made our
share of memories that won’t fade away any time soon.
