• Congratulated IUSD 3rd Year Luke Trout for his selection as an
IDDS Foundation Scholar, joining IUSD 4th Year, Aly Ricker.
Executive Director Summary
2018 was a milestone year for IDDS. We exceeded 1,000
members; we elected an all-female leadership slate for the first
time; we published another Membership Directory; and we
celebrated our 140th anniversary!! Please join us at the Indiana
Convention Center for our Dental Networking Seminar on Feb.
16, and at The District Tap on Feb. 28 for the Recognizing
Women in Dentistry Social, highlighting Drs. Tonya Stewart,
Darlene Vaughan and Darlene West. Don’t forget that you
and your hygienists will need to renew your Ethics requirement
this year, and can do that with us on Feb. 1, May 3 or Oct. 4.
As a local component of the IDA and the ADA, we are
the grassroots where members can begin to get involved in
their profession. We are honored to have our Spring General
Membership Meeting speakers, who are ADA Immediate Past
President, Dr. Joseph Crowley, and IDA President, Dr. Dan

Thank you all for being a part of organized dentistry! Your
membership in IDDS greatly contributes to where we are today.
I encourage you to consider becoming more active by serving
on one or more of the committees that make up our wonderful
organization. Your participation can make a tremendous difference
in our profession and community. We always have room for
volunteers. We always need delegates to attend the Indiana Annual
Session and participate in the politics of dentistry. This is a
fascinating way to get involved and see what organized dentistry
is doing for you and your practice. The Indiana AIR Leadership
Development Program holds a special place in my heart and I
wouldn’t be here without it. I encourage all of you to consider
participating in this amazing program! Applications will be due in
April. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Finally, I would like to thank all the Officers, Board,
Committee members and Chairs for everything they do on our
behalf. I encourage you all to use the New Year as an opportunity
to become more involved in organized dentistry. Call the IDDS
office to see how else you can be involved. I hope you all have a
wonderful start to 2019.

Board.
• Approved the 2019 Budget.

about their experiences in dentistry, and in particular, organized

If you haven’t yet done so, please go to the IDA website and
register yourself and all of your staff members for the 2019 IDA
Mission of Mercy (M.O.M.) to be held in Ft. Wayne May 17-18.
Thank you to Dr. Wayne Kinney for his wonderful
leadership last year, and I’m looking forward to grabbing my hat
and holding on for the ride this year with IDDS President, Dr.
Sarah Herd.
It’s going to be a busy time for IDDS, and I know all of you
will be serving your profession in many different ways. Have a
happy, healthy and prosperous 2019.

on October 3. He was a 53 year member

who died on October 27th at the age
of 93. He was a 70-year member of

who lost his father, Dr. Norman Krauss.
Dr. Krauss was a member of IDDS for 51

Dr. Jack Engleman, who passed
away on December 20. Dr. Engleman
