1 Configuration Of Northbound Interfaces

1.1 Export Interface - FTP

It is possible to export PM and Inventory data from IMA to an external FTP
server. The FTP export of Topology data applies only if you have installed SNM
package. The data can be exported to comma separated text files or XML files.

1.1.1 Open FTP Export Configuration Display

To configure what, when and where the data should be exported, right click the
mouse on the server icon in the IMA Network Explorer, System tab.

1.2 Mini-Link Manager SNMP Interface

In this chapter you will learn how to configure the MINI-LINK MANAGER SNMP
interface. The configuration is described in a step by step fashion.

The SNMP interface is installed if the interface component SNMP is selected

during MINI-LINK MANAGER installation. Please refer to the INSTALLATION
GUIDE.

1.2.1 MINI-LINK MANAGER SNMP Interface Concept

This interface uses the SNMP version 1 protocol, as described in the Internet
standard.

The SNMP interface handles the MIB described in ima.mib, 1551-CAN 212
33, except for the groups object and performance which are currently not
implemented.

1.2.2 Stop the Windows 2000 SNMP Service

1 Start the Control Panel in My Computer and open Administrative Tools.

2 Select Services.

3 Select SNMP in the list.

4 Push Stop in the Services window. The list should read Stopped for SNMP
after a few seconds. If not, consult the Windows NT documentation.

5 Push Close in the Services window.

1.2.2.1 Configure Trap Destinations

1 Start the Control Panel in My Computer and open Administrative Tools.

2 Select Services.

3 Select SNMP Service in the list and then Properties right clicking on it.

4 Select Traps.

5 Use the dialog to specify what computers that are to receive traps. This is
done in the following way:

Community Name is chosen from the list or written in the text field. This is
the SNMP "pass-word" used when the proxy sends the traps, for example
public.

6 Push Add to List next to the field Community Name.

7 Push Add next to Trap Destinations to specify host names for all servers that
correspond to the given Community Name give a host name (if it is known
in your network), IP address or IPX address, for example 150.132.152.21.

8 Choose another Community Name if necessary and give a new group of

servers, and so on.

9 Push OK.

10 Please restart SNMP services.

11 Push Close in the Network window.

Caution!
If you have installed on MINI-LINK Manager Server also MINI-LINK E Adapter
Server set SNMP EMANATE Adapter for NT service to Manual.

1.2.3 Customise the Registry for Very Special Preconditions

All these registry keys are set to a default value by the installation program. Do
not change manually without reason.

1 Start the registry editor program from the task bar by selecting Start:Run
and enter regedit. Then press OK. Expand the tree and select
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ericsson\IMA\Applications\SNMP-
PROXY.

1.2.4 Configure MINI-LINK MANAGER for SNMP Interface

To configure the MINI-LINK MANAGER SNMP Interface you have to modify the
system configuration by adding the program SNMP_PROXY.EXE to the list of
tasks that are started when the MINI-LINK MANAGER Server is started.

1 Start the System Configuration program, which you will find in the IMA
program group.

2 Select Configure:Tasks.

3 Add the following two tasks to the list:

Note: The order is important!

4 Push the ? button and locate the file C:\Dynamics\AlmUserQ.EXE, Note!

Note: If AlmUserQ.EXE is already used, make a copy (that is

AlmUserQSnmp.exe) of the file and use the copy instead.

5 Enter /nqueue1 /s9999 at the Command Line.

6 Select Start Up Mode Background.

7 Select the Add button.

8 Push once again the ? button and now locate the file
C:\Ericsson\IMA\SNMP_PROXY.EXE.

If the northbound system is used for remotely alarm acknowledge through the
SNMP Export interface, follow the steps:

1. In the “Services Console” check the SNMP service Security option: select
the SNMP service, open the properties page and select “Security” tab.

2. If the “Accepted community names” contains the community “public” with

Rights “READ ONLY”, select the row and Edit it changing the community
