MINI-LINK MANAGER 6.1

1 MINI-LINK Traffic Node Adaptation Guide

1.1 Introduction
This adaptation describes the Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) of MINI-LINK
Traffic Node Adaptation and of the related NEs for the first increment of "Fault
Management for Traffic Node". This adaptation describes also how to configure
and visualize the MINI-LINK Traffic Node Adaptation and NE parameters.

1.2 Operation
Operation of MINI-LINK Traffic Node Adaptation is handled according to general
descriptions in OPERATOR GUIDE.

1.3 Configuration
General configuration of MINI-LINK Manager when using the MINI-LINK Traffic
Node Adaptation is performed according to descriptions in CONFIGURATION
GUIDE, Configure Adaptations subsection and in the MINI-LINK TN Adaptation
Configuration of the Server Installation Guide. All MINI-LINK Traffic Node
associated configuration windows are described in the chapters below.

1.4 Adaptation User Interface: Property Pages

The Adaptation Property Pages execute when System Administrator wants to
set-up or to visualise the Adaptation properties. In the Adaptation property
pages, only four tabs exist: "Basic", "Base NE", "NE Defaults" and "Alarm
Suppression" tab. They basically do not change respect to the standard
adaptation property pages set but, obviously, some fields are customized for
MINI-LINK Traffic Node Adaptation.

1.5 Network Element User Interface: Property Pages

The NE Property Pages execute when System Administrator wants to set-up or
to visualise the NE properties.

In the NE property pages, only three tabs exist: "Basic", "Address" and "LM"
tab. For a generic description see the Configuration Guide, Configure NEs
subsection.

1.5.1 NE Property Pages: Basic Tab

This tab is the standard basic tab for a NE in MINI-LINK Manager 6.1
customized for the specific case.

The NE type field, in fact, shows the AMM type. It could be one of the following
values:

• AMM20p for a magazine with 22 slots (default value)

• AMM6p for a magazine with 8 slots

If FM is started with success, it will not be possible to change the type of NE

previously set and it will become gray.

1.5.2 NE Property Pages: Address Tab

A MINI-LINK Traffic Node NE has its own IP address and it can be inserted in a
TCP/IP network. It has both an embedded Web Server (HTTP), to provide a
web management interface (LCT), and an SNMPv3 Agent, to provide an SNMP
management interface to an External Management System.

Table 1 Address tab

Name Description Access
IP Address Here the IP address or the host name Read / Modify
for the NE must be entered.
Note: You should normally avoid using
host names since this only works if
the Domain Name System (DNS) is
available, or if the names and addresses
are defined in the file WINNT\Sys-
tem32\drivers\etc\hosts. Max
15 characters.
SNMP Port To address the SNMP Manager Read / Modify
requests performed in the Adaptation.
Possible values are between 1 up to
65535.
Set as default to "161" that defines
the SNMP port for connection with the
MINI-LINK TN Agent.
SNMP User SNMP username used to access ML TN Read / Modify
Name MIBs (max 20 characters). The SNMP
User Name must be same that the
agent uses to send traps. If the users
are different, the adaptation will not be
able to receive traps. If the SNMP User
Name is not defined in the Traffic Node
SNMP Agent, the adaptation will not be
able to start Fault Monitoring.
SNMP SNMP password used to access Read / Modify
Password parameters on ML TN MIBs (max 20
characters). No visible.
Timeout SNMP communication timeout in Read / Modify
seconds. Possible values are between
10 up to 3600. Set as default to "30".
You may want to increase the timeout if
the network is very slow.
Re-connect Number of re-connect retries. Possible Read / Modify
Retries values are between -1 up to 100. The
value -1, which is default and normally
used, means "try to re-connect forever".
Re-connect This parameter is an integer that Read / Modify
Delay defines the elapsed time in seconds
between re-connect attempts. Possible
values are between 10 up to 3600. Set
as default to "30".
OK Exit the window with saved settings. Activate
