GATHERING SONG

Majesty
Majesty, worship his majesty
Unto Jesus be all glory, power and praise

(Repeat)

INTRODUCTORY RITE
During the blessing and also at the end of the Mass, the sign of the
Cross is made. The sign is based on the theological understanding
that salvation comes to us through the cross of the Christ. We
invoke the power of the Trinity on to what is being blessed, and
signifies Christ’s victory over death.

Celebrant : In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and

of the Holy Spirit.

All : Amen.

Celebrant : The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love
of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be
with you all.
All : And also with you.

PENITENTIAL RITE

Celebrant : My brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to

celebrate the sacred mysteries, let us call to
mind our sins.

All : I confess to almighty God, and to you, my

brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through
my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done, and in what I have failed
to do; and I ask Blessed Mary, ever virgin, all
the angels and saints, and you, my brothers
and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Celebrant : May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us

our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.

All : Amen.

All : Lord, Have Mercy [sung]

Lord have mercy, (3x)
Christ have mercy, (3x)
Lord have mercy. (3x)

OPENING PRAYER

Celebrant : Let us pray,

Father, you have made the bond of
marriage a holy mystery, a symbol of
Christ’s love for his Church. Hear our
prayers for Shawn and Caroline, with faith
in you and in each other they pledge their
love today. May their lives always bear
witness to the reality of that love.
We ask you this through our Lord Jesus
Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever
and ever.

All : Amen.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

[Please be seated]
The Liturgy of the word consists of readings from the Scripture.
When the Gospel is proclaimed, the congregation stands, out of
respect for the Word, which is proclaimed to recall the story of
God’s love for us.

First Reading
A reading from the book of Genesis
They become one body. And they will be two in one flesh.
(2:18-24)

The Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be
alone. I will make him a helpmate.” So from the soil the Lord
God fashioned all the wild beasts and all the birds of heaven.
These he brought to the man to see what he would call them;
each one was to bear the name the man would give it. The
man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of heaven and
all the wild beasts.

But no helpmate suitable for man was found for him. So the
Lord God made the man fall into a deep sleep. And while he
slept, he took one of his ribs and enclosed it in flesh. The Lord
God built the rib he had taken from the man into a woman,
and brought her to the man. The man exclaimed:

“This at last is bone from my bones, and flesh from my flesh!

This is to be called woman, for this was taken from man.”
This is why a man leaves his father and mother and joins
himself to his wife, and they become one body.

The word of the Lord.

All : Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm
(Ps.33:2-9. R.v.2; Alt.R.v.9)

Response: Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

1. I will bless the Lord at all times,

his praise always on my lips;
in the Lord my soul shall make its boast.
The humble shall hear and be glad.
2. Glorify the Lord with me.
Together let us praise his name.
I sought the Lord and he answered me;
from all my terrors he set me free.

3. Look towards him and be radiant;

let your faces not be abashed.
This poor man called; the Lord heard him
and rescued him from all his distress.

4. The angel of the Lord is encamped

around those who revere him, to rescue them.
Taste and see that the Lord is good
He is happy who seeks refuge in him.

Second Reading
A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians
If I am wihout love, it will do me no good whatever. (12:31 –
13:8)

Be ambitious for the higher gifts. And I am going to show you

a way that is better than any of them.
If I have all the eloquence of men or of angels, but speak
without love, I am simply a gong booming or a cymbal
clashing. If I have the gift of prophecy, understanding all the
mysteries there are, and knowing everything, and if I have
faith in all its fullness, to move mountains, but without love,
then I am nothing at all. If I give away all that I possess,
piece by piece, and if I even let them take my body to burn
it, but am without love, it will do me no good whatever.
Love is always patient and kind; It is never jealous; love is
never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does
not take offence, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure
in other people’s sins but delights in the truth; it is always
ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever
comes.

Love does not come to an end.

The word of the Lord.

All : Thanks be to God.

Gospel Acclamation
[Please stand]

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.

He who lives in love, lives in God,
and God in him.
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.

GOSPEL
The Gospel, which means “Good News”, are accounts of Jesus’
ministry by the first Christians. We make the sign of the crosses
with the right thumb: On the forehead – that our minds be open to
God’s Word; On our lips – that we may echo God’s Word; and On
our hearts – that the Word of God may dwell there.

Celebrant : The Lord be with you.

All : And also with you.

Celebrant : A reading from the Holy Gospel according to

John
What I command you is to love one another.
(15:12-16)

All : Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to his disciples: “This is my commandment: love

one another, as I have loved you. A man can have no greater
love than to lay down his life for his friends. You are my
friends, if you do what I command you. I shall not call you
servants any more, because a servant does not know his
master’s business; I call you friends, because I have made
known to you everything I have learnt from my Father. You
did not choose me, no, I chose you; and I commissioned you
to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last; and then the
Father will give you anything you ask him in my name.”

The Gospel of the Lord.

All : Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Homily
[Please be seated]
The homily is an integral part of the liturgy and a necessary source
of nourishment of the Christian life. It helps us understand and
reflect upon the Word of God, which we heard.
RITE OF MARRIAGE

Celebrant : Shawn and Caroline, you have come together

in this church so that the Lord may seal and
strengthen your love in the presence of the
Church’s minister and this community. Christ
abundantly blesses this love. He has already
consecrated you in baptism and now he
enriches and strengthens you by a special
sacrament so that you may assume the duties
of marriage in mutual and lasting fidelity. And
so, in the presence of the Church, I ask you to
state your intentions.

Celebrant : Shawn and Caroline, have you come here

freely and without reservation to give
yourselves to each other in marriage?

Shawn : Yes, I have.

Caroline : Yes, I have.

Celebrant : Will you love and honor each other as man

and wife for the rest of your lives?

Shawn : Yes, I will.

Caroline : Yes, I will.

Celebrant : Will you accept children lovingly from God,

and bring them up according to the law of
Christ and His Church?

Shawn : Yes, I will.

Caroline : Yes, I will.

Declaration of Consent
Hand in hand, Shawn and Caroline give themselves to each other
by a mutual gift of love. Their commitment is made in Jesus Christ.
By their consent, they enter the sacrament of matrimony.

Celebrant : Since it is your intention to enter into

marriage, join your right hands, and declare
your consent before God and His Church.
Shawn : I, Shawn, take you, Caroline, to be my wife. I
promise to be true to you in good times and in
bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you
and honor you all the days of my life.
Caroline : I, Caroline, take you, Shawn, to be my
husband. I promise to be true to you in good
times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I
will love you and honor you all the days of my
life.

Celebrant : You have declared your consent before the

Church. May the Lord in his Goodness,
strengthen your consent and fill you with His
blessings. What God has joined, men must not
divide.

All : Amen.

BLESSING OF RINGS
The marriage covenant is a sign of the consecration of the
covenant between God and His people, and between Jesus Christ
and His Church.

Celebrant : Lord, bless and consecrate Shawn and

Caroline, in their love for each other. May
these rings be a symbol of true faith in each
other, and always remind them of their love.
(We ask this) through Christ our Lord.

All : Amen

EXCHANGE OF RINGS
The couple’s exchange of consent if visibly symbolised by the
exchange of rings.

Shawn : Caroline, take this ring as a sign of my love

and fidelity.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.

Caroline : Shawn, take this ring as a sign of my love

and fidelity.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.

GENERAL INTERCESSION
[Please stand]

Celebrant : Let us pray to God the Father, who has called

Shawn and Caroline, to a new state of life:

Leader : That Shawn and Caroline, now united in holy

matrimony be granted true Christian
happiness, we pray to the Lord.

All : Lord hear our prayer.

understanding of each other, we pray to the
Lord.

All : Lord hear our prayer.

living example of Christian love to their
neighbours, we pray to the Lord.

Christians, the children God may give them.
We pray to the Lord.

All : Lord hear our prayer.

Leader : That all of us gathered here, remain united

together with them through friendship and
prayer. We pray to the Lord.
All : Lord hear our prayer.
Celebrant : Let us pray. O God, from whom all love
derives, help this young couple in their
responsibility of building up a new Christian
family. We ask you this, through Christ our
Lord.

All : Amen.

LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

[Please be seated]
The Eucharist is the heart and summit of the Church’s life. It is a
memorial of Christ’s death and Resurrection. We believe that Jesus
commanded his apostles to celebrate it until His return.

Offertory Song

I Offer My Life
All that I am, all that I have
I lay them down before You, O Lord
All my regrets, all my acclaim
The joy and the pain
I’m making them Yours

Chorus
Lord I offer my life to You
Everything I’ve been through
Use it for Your Glory
Lord I offer my days to You
Lifting my praise to You
As a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer You my life

Things in the past, things yet unseen

Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true

Invitation To Prayer
[Please stand]
When the chalice is prepared, a little water is mixed with the wine.
As the two become inseparable, they represent Christ’s
inseparable union with us.

Celebrant : Pray, brethren, that our sacrifice may be

acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.

All : May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands

for the praise and glory of his name, for our
good, and the good of all his church.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

Celebrant : Lord, accept our offering for this newly married

couple, Shawn and Caroline. By your love and
providence you have brought them together;
now bless them all the days of their married
life. (We ask this) through Christ our Lord.

All : Amen

Eucharistic Prayer
These prayers give thanks to God for the whole work of salvation
and gifts of bread and wine that become the body and blood of
Christ.

Celebrant : The Lord be with you.

All : And also with you.

Celebrant : Lift up your hearts.

All : We lift them up to the Lord.

Celebrant : Let us give thanks to the Lord.

All : It is right to give Him thanks and praise.

Preface

Celebrant : Father, all-powerful and ever-living God, we do

well, always and everywhere to give you thanks.
By this sacrament, your grace unites man and
woman in an unbreakable bond of love and
peace.

You have designed the chaste love of husband

and wife for the increase both of the human
family and of your own family born in baptism.

You are the loving Father of the world of nature;

you are the loving Father of the new creation of
grace. In Christian marriage, you bring together
the two orders of creation: nature’s gift of
children enriches the world and Your grace
enriches also Your Church.

Through Christ the choirs of angels and all the

saints praise and worship your glory. May our
voices blend with theirs as we join in their
unending hymn:

All : Holy, Holy, Holy Lord,

God of power and might, Heaven and earth
Are full of your glory, Hosanna in the Highest
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the
Lord
Hosanna in the highest!

Eucharistic Prayer II
[Please kneel; non-Catholics may be seated]

Celebrant : Lord, You are holy indeed, the fountain of all

holiness.
Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make
them holy, so that they may become for us the
body + and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Before He was given up to death, a death he

freely accepted, he took bread and gave You
thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to his
disciples, and said:

Take this, all of you, and eat it: this is my body

which will be given up for you.

When supper was ended, he took the cup.

Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the
cup to His disciples and said:

Take this, all of you, and drink from it: this is

the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and
everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you
and for all men so that sins may be forgiven.
Do this in memory of me.

Memorial Acclamation
[Please stand]

Celebrant : Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.

All : Dying you destroyed our death, Rising you

restored our life, Lord Jesus, come in glory.

Memorial Prayer

Celebrant : In memory of His death and resurrection, we

offer you, Father, this life giving bread, this
saving cup. We thank you for counting us
worthy to stand in your presence and serve
you. May all of us who share in the body and
blood of Christ be brought together in unity by
the Holy Spirit.

Lord, remember your Church throughout the

world; make us grow in love, together with
Benedict our Pope, Nicholas our bishop and all
the clergy.

Remember our brothers and sisters who have

gone to their rest in the hope of rising again;
bring them and all the departed into the light of
your presence.

Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share

eternal life with Mary, the virgin mother of God,
with the apostles, and with all the saints who
have done your will throughout the ages. May
we praise you in union with them, and give you
glory through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Doxology of the Eucharistic Prayer

Amen is the acknowledgment of what is being said. It can be
translated into “I believe it”.

Celebrant : Through him, with him, in him in the unity of

the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours,
almighty Father, for ever and ever.

All : Amen! Amen!

COMMUNION RITE
To prepare for the paschal meal, to welcome the Lord, we pray for
forgiveness and exchange a sign of peace. Before eating Christ’s
body and drinking his blood, we must be one with him and with all
our brothers and sister in the Church.

Celebrant : Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the

words our Saviour gave us:
All : Our Father in heaven, holy be Your Name, your
kingdom come, your will be done, on earth, as in
heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive
us our sins as we forgive those who sin against
us. Do not bring us to the test, but deliver us
from evil.
Nuptial Blessings
[Couple will kneel. Please remain standing]

Celebrant : My dear friends, let us turn to the Lord and

pray that He will bless with His grace Caroline
now married in Christ to Shawn and that
(through the sacrament of the body and blood
of Christ, he will unite in love the couple He has
joined in this holy bond.

Father, by Your power You have made

everything out of nothing. In the beginning you
created the universe and made mankind in
Your own likeness. You gave man the constant
help of woman so that man and woman should
no longer be two, but one flesh, and you teach
us that what you have united may never be
divided.

Father, you have made the union of man and

wife so holy a mystery that it symbolizes the
marriage of Christ and His Church. Father, by
your plan man and woman are united, and
married life has been established as the one
blessing that was not forfeited by original sin or
washed away in the flood.

Look with love upon this woman your daughter,

now joined to her husband, in marriage. She
asks your blessing. Give her the grace of love
and peace. May she always follow the example
of the holy women whose praises are sung in
the scriptures.

May her husband put his trust in her and

recognize that she is his equal and the heir with
him to the life of grace. May he always honour
her and love her as Christ loves His bride, the
Church.

Father, keep them always true to your

commandments. Keep them faithful in
marriage and let them be living examples of
Christian life. Give them the strength which
comes from the gospel so that they may be
witnesses of Christ to others. (Bless them with
children and help them to be good parents.
May they live to see their children’s children.)
And, after a happy old age, grant them fullness
of life with the saints in the kingdom of heaven.

(We ask this) through Christ our Lord.

All : Amen.

Sign Of Peace
The Church is a community of Christians joined by the Spirit in
love. It needs to express, deepen, and restore its peaceful unity
before eating the one Body of the Lord and drinking from the one
cup of salvation. We do this by a sign of peace.

Celebrant : Lord Jesus Christ, You said to your apostles:

I leave you peace, my peace I give you. Look

not on our sins but on the faith of your Church,
and grant us the peace and unity of your
kingdom where you live forever and ever.

All : Amen.
Celebrant : The peace of the Lord be with you always.

All : And also with you.

Celebrant : Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

[The sign of peace is exchanged with handshake or bow]

Breaking Of Bread
Christians are gathered for the “breaking of the bread”, another
name for the Mass. In communion, though many we are made one
body in the one bread, which of Christ.

All : Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the

world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the
world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the
world:
grant us peace.

Communion
[Please kneel; non-Catholics may be seated]
Holy Communion is the Body of Christ in the Catholic faith. The
body of Christ may only be received by Baptised Catholics. Non-
Catholics may remain in their seats or come up to receive
blessings from the Priest by crossing their arms as a sign to the
Priest for Blessings.

Celebrant : This is the Lamb of God who takes away the

sins of the world. Happy are those who are
called to His supper.

People : Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only

say the word and I shall be healed.
[Baptised Catholics may proceed for Holy Communion. Non-
Catholics may be seated]

COMMUNION SONG

On Eagle’s Wings
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,
Who abide in His shadow for life,
Say to the Lord, "My Refuge,
My Rock in Whom I trust."

Chorus:
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you,

And famine will bring you no fear;
Under His Wings your refuge,
His faithfulness your shield.
(Repeat)

In moments like these,
I sing out a song,
