Learning Outcomes [ASSURE (State Objectives)]

By the end of this lesson, our 5th grade students will apply Simple Present Tense to form their own
sentences when expressing themselves under the symptoms of an illness with 90% accuracy. This
lesson marks an important turning point in the unit as the students will start being active by learning
state their conditions.

Materials)]

Kahoot game will be used to teach the basics of simple present tense and practice new vocabulary
items
Popplet will be used to provide the grammar point of the lesson (Simple Present Tense)
Learning-Teaching Methods [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and Materials)]

-Direct method oriented instruction will be our method which is seen in this lesson while simple
present tense is introduced to the learners by Popplet. As the teacher will be at the center in this
part, there is not much room for learner participation.

-Tutorial in the form of a simple and playful quiz.

Participation)]

In case the results are not satisfying regarding their grasp of this lesson, a homework of further
grammar practice solutions of which will be explained in the next lesson, might be given as a follow-
up evaluation method.

Group Learning Activities -

Summary

In the second lesson, students will be introduced to the grammar point (simple present tense) on
popplet. They will also play a Kahoot game to enhance their understanding of the grammar
structure along with new vocabulary items like feel, take, drink, have, see etc.

Measurement & Evaluation

A short separate written quiz where the students are expected to fill in the blanks using the Simple
Present Tense version of the verbs provided, right after the Kahoot game. The rationale here is to
help them consolidate their use of the tense.
Measurement & Assessment Activities The separate quiz will be the individual activity, after
for Individual Performance which each of them will the grades and mistakes on
their paper.

Measurement & Assessment Activities Although the questions on Kahoot are answered
for Group Performance individually, students enter the game at the same
time and compete with each other simultaneously,
which indicates that this is a group performance

Explanation

As grasping the appropriate use of grammar is a must in forming correct sentences, the two quizzes
serve as an efficient tool to measure the students’ understanding of the Simple Present Tense.
Namely, we believe grammatical accuracy is a must.

Explanation regarding to the implementation of the plan

Initially, the teacher will present simple present tense usage on Popplet
Afterwards,the teacher will initiate a Kahoot game to have students revise the new vocabulary items
and the simple present tense structure.
There may be technical problems with the computer because of an electricity cut. If there is an
electricity cut, the teacher will hang the pictures from google docs on the board.
