I am ~ting this lett~r on behalf_of C~is Labasan. I had the pleasure of getting to know Chris in
my . 1_ 1 gra~e Advisory class m which he played an integral part as a dedicated leader. In
addition Chris was part of my American Literature and Contemporary Composition classes
throughout the 2017-2018 school year. He has a passion for theater and loves to work behind the
scenes helping out wherever there is a need. Chris has volunteered so much of his time in serving
Cars?n High School. He has also been a volunteer serving his community. Chris has received
multiple awards over the course of his time at Carson High.

Chris was an active part of his eleventh grade English and Advisory classes in 2017-2018. His
hard work and drive brought him academic success in American Literature for the Fall semester
and Contemporary Composition in the Spring. He was dogged in his determination to complete
assignments and produced quality work. Last year, in Advisory Chris emerged as a director and
worked tirelessly in creating a presentation of a key scene in August Wilson' s Fences. He held
auditions, picked actors to portray the parts, and then pushed them through rehearsals. Chris
reached out and communicated with many different teachers on campus inviting their classes to
the performance. He created a multimedia presentation using clips from the movie to introduce
the play and its themes to the audience and picked out costumes and props. The final
performance was a huge success. I am extremely proud of Chris and what he was able to
accomplish.

Chris has been a big part of helping recruit middle school students to Carson High serving as a
tour guide during the 2018 Linked Learning Showcase. He is constantly volunteering his time to
help the Performing Arts and Media Academy and the school as a whole. Chris has volunteered
at St. Philomena Church in Carson working closely with the teachers there to provide an
education for its parishioners. He has also worked with the Boys and Girls Club since 2015
getting involved in after school activities and going to tutoring to keep his grades high.

Chris has been recognized for various achievements at Carson High School dating back to his
freshman year. He received the Perfect Attendance Award in both ninth and tenth grade for not
missing a single day of school. As a tenth grader his GPA was between 3.0 and 3.4 and he
received an Academic Achievement Award. He received a Certificate of Recognition for
Participation in the Career Project PAMA Gallery Walk in 2016. Chris has been honored for his
overall service to theater activities with the Theater Recognition Award in 2017-2018. His work
in advisory earned him the Leadership in 11 th Grade Advisory Award for the 2017-2018 school
year.

It has been amazing to watch Chris blossom and grow over the last year and a half. He h~s
helped me to see the classroom differently and to incorporate theater activities into my lessons m
