MAYDAY CONDITIONS

V.L.SINGH
1. Engine on fire.
2. Extreme engine vibration,very bad noise.
3. Engine switched off in air.
4. U have lost both engine driven generators and buses cannot be restored.
5. Engine Flame out.
6. APU fire.
7. Smoke in cockpit.
8. Loosing height very rapidly.
9. NLG or MLG damaged.
10. Ur A/C is hijacked.
11. Manual reversion.
12. Lost one wing.
13. Spatial disorientation.
14. High speed rejected take off,tyre burst and brakes caught fire.
15. Total electric failure.( It is also PAN PAN in certain conditions)
16. Low Endurance.
17. Entered CB cell and unable to control aircraft.
18. Entered SPIN.
19. Fire alarm activated and smoke observed.
20. Hydraulic Failure or Hydraulic failure on finals with RCF.
21. Anti icing system failed.
22. PIC,PILOT,CAPTAIN , FLIGHT ENGINEER got heart attack or fainted and
unable to revive him (PILOT INCAPACITATION).
23. A/C skids of runway or taxiway.
24. Runway overshoot.
25. Runway undershoot.
26. ACFT crashed.
27. Structural damage due vulture hit.
28. Fuel leakage /Fuel imbalance / Fuel quantity in tank decreasing rapidly.
29. Entered danger area.
30. Entered prohibited area/see red and green flares.
31. Inoperative primary control surface ( E-A-R)/Sidestick or rudder pedals
stiff.
32. Bomb threat in air.
33. Unable to control flight parameters and unable to correct position.
34. Engine power has reduced, unable to maintain assigned FL.
35. U see training aircraft crashing .
36. Only one source of AC power remains.
37. Grave acts of violence in air.
38. Loss of oil pressure.
39. Cabin overpressurized, risk of structural damage.
40. Engine stall/Compressor stall.
41. Tail strike while take off.
42. Volcanic ash encounter.
43. EGPWS alerts / TCAS alerts.
44. Ditching.
45. Entered thunderstorm and unable to control aircraft.
46. On finals u experience blinding rain, a/c is sinking rapidly.
47. Cabin Pressurization Failure/Rapid decrease in Cabin Pressure
48. Primary Altimeter Failure
49. Hear a message from aircraft in distress on emergency frequency.
50. During Landing run, your aircraft hits a bull and swings off the runway
51. Sea Gull Smashes wind screen
52. Unlawful Interference
53. You enter CAT and unable to maintain flight parameters.
PAN PAN CONDITIONS
1. Heart attack to passenger in air.
2. Secondary control surfaces stuck( e.g- flaps)/Controls sluggish.
3. Bomb threat on ground.
4. Flaps stuck after take-off, overweight landing not possible.
5. See a UFO.
6. Line squall approaching,training flying going on.
7. VOR/DME not working.
8. RNAV failure.
9. Low hydraulic pressure, controls sluggish / hydraulic leak, ATC not
responding/ slow decrease in hydraulic pressure.
10. Slow decrease in cabin pressure, no ground controller is responding.
11. Hydraulic failure on ground/ Low hydraulic pressure + Controls
Sluggish/Hydraulic leak in air
12. Obnoxious smell from cargo in air.
13. Smoke from cargo on ground.
14. Entered CB cell.
15. You are about to take off and see another aircraft on runway and no
contact with tower.
16. See a series of red flares/ship in distress.
17. U see an aircraft in distress on finals and u r on runway intersection.
18. U r lost.
19. Flaps up while in landing configuration.
20. Asymmtrical trailing edge flaps.
21. Jammed stabilizer.
22. Bad weather ahead, u r deviating, no contact with ATC.
23. Mode C not working and no contact with ATC / Transponder not
working and no contact with ATC
24. After take-off , u see portion of airport on fire.
25. Unable to maintain VMC conditions.
26. Transfer bus off,facing brake problems,cabin lights unserviceable.
27. Loss of both engine driven generators.
28. Serious a/c system failure that requires an immediate route or altitude
change.
29. Repetitive switching on and off navigation lights.
30. Auto altitude hold not working/ servo altimeter not working.
31. Brakes hot on ground and cabin crew heard a loud sound below the
floor.
32. Loss of FMS data in descent/ approach.
33. Low energy warning.
34. Unreliable speed indication.
35. At runway holding u see another a/c on finals switching on and off
landing lights.
36. On finals u see ACFT on base leg switching on and off landing light
37. Duststorm approaching, training flight going on.
38. You experience severe turbulence.
39. There is a lady on-board expecting a baby
40. Hot tyre indication while taxying.
41. Vehicle hits a man on adjoining taxiway
42. Engine running rough
43. Unsafe undercarriage indication/ You are getting 1/2/3 red light
indication in the cockpit ( Note your ACFT is in air).
44. Tyre damage after take-off.
