Abstract

This descriptive study aimed to ascertain the effectiveness of the Non-

governmental organizations assistance towards the Typhoon Yolanda victims of Ajuy in

terms of support immediate relief, disaster management service, recovery and

rehabilitation assistance. This study involved 404 respondents from the 34 barangays

of the Municipality of Ajuy, chosen through random sampling and Slovin’s formula was

used in order to determine the sample size in each barangay. A researcher made

questionnaire was used to gather data. For descriptive statistics, mean scores and

standard deviation were used to describe the data gathered. For inferential statistics,

One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used in this study. Mean scores and

standard deviation revealed that Red Cross provided the greatest help among other

four non-governmental organizations like ADRA, Caritas Inc, and Gawad Kalinga (GK).

The Scheffe analysis unveiled that there is a significant difference in the extent on the

various assistance in terms of support immediate relief, disaster management service,

and recovery and rehabilitation assistance. ANOVA brought out that there is a

significant difference in the perception of Typhoon Yolanda victims of Ajuy towards the

effectiveness of NGOs assistance. The perceived level of effectiveness of Ajuynon on

NGO’s assistance towards Typhoon Yolanda victims is “moderately effective”.
