Anne, I know this may be considered "out of line", but I wanted to ask you to see that
this letter(attached) came to the attention of the Governor. My wife Melanie (the one
who whispered "Tax the Rich" to your husband at the Tony Bennett event at the

Fairmont a few years ago) and our daughter Jennifer both know Mr. David Lack,- who is
the subject of this letter. My wife sent this letter through appropriate channels as per the
official State Government website, as well as by regular mail to the State Capitol. I do
not know David Lack, but I have read his medical history (not attached), and it is pretty
shocking and unfair that he cannot get the cancer care that he clearly needs.

As a citizen, a physician, and because of the many good things I have heard about this
man from my wife and daughter, who know him well, I urge the Governor to order his
release from prison as urgently as possible.

You had a GY scan that showed a mass at the end of your throat and an endoscopy that looked at the inside of your
throat. Some biopsies were taken and showed some changes in the types of cells there that indicate some changes
are occurring. This could lead to cancer. We are going to f~ave the prison refer you to UCSF for further evaluation
and management. If you have worsening pain, vomit blood or any other concerning symptoms please return for
reevaluation.

Yau were not able to finish the fluid to check your colon so you will have to try again another time in order to get the

endoscopy but was unable to tolerate colonoscopy. We'll trea~ t~ai~,aw rpu for un ng acute process, and
continue to monitor.

Workup shows no evidence of acute pancreatitis, hepatitis, appendicitis, diverticutitis, cholecystitis, or other
emergent process. However gastric mass appears simit~r 'f~ not iar~Qr than previous. Previous records reviewed,
evidence of dysplasia opsy.
o Case discussed with gastroenterology Dr. Tabbaa, he recommends surgical
consultation, specifically Dr. Disante today given gastric mass that is within the hiatal hernia and likely within the
chest cavity.
We'll discuss case with surgery and continue to monitor.

Case discussed with general surgery Dr. Palmer who notes that surgically they could the patient here at
Natividad, however he would need an endoscopic ultrasound. Pam ham hPen waiting for referral tQ UGSF for
endoscopic ultrasound fora ut 2 mon meanwhile biopsy returns with dysplasia there is concern for possibly
pro ressive r. Case discusse with transfer center who contacted UCSF, however they were not accepting
patients at this time. We'It continue to search for facilities that have endoscopic ultraso~___un__d~ a__.dn us rgical
specialists available.
Case discussed with mum. ~ hospitals, family reached physicians at goad Samaritan Hospital who did not feel the
patient requires admission or transfer, however graciously agreed to refer to they. aii :ts for endoscopic
