1 Work in pairs to complete the missing
information in some texts.
Hand out the A and B sheets with the texts for
students to look at.
You both have some information missing in your
text. Take turns to ask questions to find out this
information. Answer the questions that your
partner asks you, using your text.
You have two minutes to read the text and think
of your questions. Please ask me if you don’t
understand anything.
Allow 2 minutes for students to read their texts and
think of questions. Answer questions as required.
You can begin now.
Student A, please ask the first question.
Allow 2 minutes for the students to ask and answer
questions. If both students are weak and struggle to
start the information exchange, use questions to
prompt them, e.g. ‘How can you make a question
about where Marek lives?’ etc.

2 Here are some photos of different classes at
school.
Look at the four photos below and:
 ask and answer questions with each other to
find out what you like and don’t like about
each subject;
 decide together which subject you both like
and dislike the most.
You have one minute to think about what you
want to say. Please ask me if you have any
questions.
Allow 1 minute for students to look at the photos and
prepare. Answer questions as required.
Please start your discussion now.
Allow 3 minutes for students to do the task, moving
the discussion on to the second bullet point if
necessary and/or prompting both students by
recasting/modifying the bullets above.
I will now ask you some questions.
Encourage students to discuss these questions
together, but if necessary target individual students
who do not contribute, or who contribute minimally, to
the discussion tasks above.
