Dear Devotee,
Bhagavan Vishnu took 10 avatars and he was born as the eighth child of the
Vasudeva – Devaki couple and was named Krishna. He gave to the world the
veda Upanishad saram i.e. Bhagavad Gita and was proclaimed the Jagath Guru.
On 13.3.1969, the eighth child was born to the great exponent of Rig Veda, Shri.
M. Krishnamoorthy Sastrigal and Smt. Ambalakshmi and named as Sankara
Narayana. He was initiated into Sanyasa at a tender age of 13 like the Mahaswami
and was anointed the 70th pontiff in the Guru Parampara of the venerated Sri.
Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. His thoughts, vision, planning and execution aligned
to contemporary needs but at the same time rooted in tradition and sampradaya
are easily visible as he guides the Peetam and the large fraternity of devotees.
The grace and benediction of the Mahaswami and Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi
Swamigal has seen the mutt grow stronger over the years and under the
pontificate of Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal, the Mutt is destined
to reach great heights in the service to humanity.
The 50th Jayanti of His Holiness which fell on 13.3.2018 came immediately
after the Videha Mukthi of Jayendra Periyavaa and hence could not be celebrated
as is generally done by the devotees. A large section of the devotees have desired
that his 51st Jayanti on 3.3.2019 should be celebrated with religious fervour and
intensity as well the occasion used to reach out to the poor and needy.
It has been decided to offer a minimum of 1008 bikshavandanams to the
Sage. The bhikshavandana Kannikai has been fixed at Rs. 6000/- of which
Rs. 5000/- would go to the corpus fund of the Mutt and Rs. 1000/- would be
utilised for free distribution of
1. 51 sewing machines to needy and deserving women
2. 51 wheel chairs for the handicapped
3. 51 barber kits
4. 51 idli vessel sets for rural women self help groups
5. 510 school bags with note books and books on moral education for students
6. 51 dhoti and sarees to Grameena archakars
7. 51 hearing aids to the affected
8. 51 spectacles to the poor
9. 51 cycles to high school / college going girls in rural areas
10. 51 sets of silver Pancha patrams to senior vedic scholars.
 The veda sastra pandita raksha sabha, Mumbai would commence lifelong
pension of Rs. 1000/- per month to 100 vedic scholars from villages in South
India to commemorate the 51st Jayanti. This is in addition to the pension provided
to 250 vedic scholars from all over India.
