Masters of Educational Leadership - Internship Proposal

Plan

Name: Shelly Sharma

Cohort: Abbotsford
Date: October 15, 2017
Course: Internship 2

By the end of the internship I will:

1. Improve my own understanding of how to better support new teachers in the
education field as well as helping other colleagues with different strategies to implement
in their classrooms
2. Learn the part that the teacher and other individuals (parents, students, and admin)
play in helping create a strong education for our students
3. Develop a blog to help teachers create and plan lessons, access various assessment
practices and develop classroom activities and projects
4. Develop a collaborative process for new teachers and staff to share their ideas about
continually supporting one another in our educational field

Process:
1. I will meet and/or converse with school staff members, district personnel, and the
Surrey Teachers Association on a regular basis to get a better understanding of
what supports new teachers require and in what ways they can receive or gain
access to those supports
2. I will learn to educate myself on better ways of being a leader who helps other
teachers build stronger lessons and classroom practices
3. I will also be doing research on teacher burnout and retention rates in the
Province of British Columbia
4. I will create a blog that has the necessities (assessment, curriculum and
planning) required to build a classroom for a strong start
5. I will share this with blog fellow staff members for feedback (using google forms
to ask for feedback)
6. I will have this ready to share with new and existing teachers and district helping
teachers in the Surrey School District
7. I will then ask for feedback to improve this first edition of the handbook
