Lesson: 1) Introduction to the Project 
 
Objectives:  
Students will be able to… 
● Understand the expectations of the unit 
● List key terms related to various foods 
● Apply their knowledge into meaningful art 
 
Warm Up Activity:​ ​Ed Puzzle Video and Discussion [15 minutes]  Objectives Met: 
   
● Show students the Ed Puzzle video containing a cooking  ● Understand the 
show (Telmo and Tula Video)  expectations of the unit  
● Answer questions via think-pair-share. During share 
part, introduce the idea of “Chefs Without Borders.”  
● Ask students their ideas about the project before going 
into more detail. Pass out handout with information.

○ Be sure to ask your students the overall themed 
question for the unit: ​What determines what we 
eat? 
■ Society, culture, healthy lifestyle? 
 
Materials Needed:  
● Ed Puzzle Video ​[2 min]​ and discussion Questions ​[5 min] 
● Project Information Handout ​[5 min] 
 
Activity:​ ​Fly Swatter Memory game​ ​[10-15 minutes]  Objectives Met: 
● Have students stand on one end of the room  ● Identify cooking 
● Project PPT with vocab pictures, one at a time  vocabulary (ingredients) 
○ instructions language up to teacher 
● First student to get up and correctly identify wins a 
point 
 
 
Materials Needed: 
● Powerpoint with vocab on it:  
○ apple, banana, strawberry, grapes, watermelon, 
potatoes carrot onion cucumber, peas, bread, 
rice, oatmeal, cereal, tortilla, chicken, ham, beef, 
fish, goat, cookie, cake, ice cream, pudding.  
 
Activity: Mural of different foods​ ​[25 minutes]  Objective Met: 
  ● Applying knowledge 
● On a large piece of paper, have students draw at least 3 
already discussed vocabulary food items and at least 2 
not already discussed vocabulary food items 
● Students will label the items that they drew in their 
target language 
 
 
Materials Needed: 
Large piece of paper  
Markers/crayons/colored pencils 
 
Activity: Debriefing [5 minutes]  Objective Met: 
  ● Understand the 
Go over the project information. Specifically, discuss the  expectations of the unit 
telecollaborations aspect. 

Materials Needed: 
Create a padlet with guided questions for the students to 
answer for homework.  
 
Homework:​ Students will go home and fill out a padlet board that asks questions about themselves 
and food related things. It will be used in the next class to create an introduction video. (Should be 
shot, edited, and uploaded for Wednesday’s class by the teacher).
