Meaning:
Krishnaa or others can correct me. I am not certain of the meaning of some of the
words.
Just as with tyAgarAja, rAma was SrI tulsidAsjI's iSTa dEvatA, and all routes
usually lead him
back to rAma. This bhajan reiterates the same theme.

jAnciyE girijApati kAsI, jAsu bhavan animAdik dAsi |


One should go to Kashi (kAsI) to glance (jAnciyE) at the husband (pati) of girijA,
where (jAsu) one's infinitesimal (animAdik) self becomes (bhavan) a servant (dAsI)
of the Lord!

sukh sampati mati sugati suhAyi sakal sulabh sankar sEva pAyi |
Service (sEvA) to Sankar will allow one to easily (sulabh) realize (pAyi) the
benefits
of everything (sakal) that is sought: happiness (sukh), wealth (sampati),
intelligence (mati),
enjoyment (suhAyi), and good character (sugati).

gayE saran Arati kE lInhE nirati nihAl nimiS mahakI rE |


As I sought (gayE) his refuge (saran) in time to get the blessings (kE lInhE) of
his Arati,
I was treated to a whiff (mahakI) of continuous happiness (nirat nihAl) for a
minute (nimiS).

tulasi dAs jAncat jas gAvE, vimal bhagati raghupati ki pAvE |


As I Tulsidas, feast my eyes(jAncat) [on Sankar], as I sing (gAyE) his priases
(jas),
I am certain that my reward (pAvE) will be the realization of my tender (vimal)
devotion (bhagati) to rAmA (raghupati kI)!

ravi: isn't the raaga similar to mayamalavagoula?

jaanchnaa would commonly mean "to survey, inspect, investigate, enquire or


ascertain";
however, it could also mean "to beg" - a jaanchak could therefore be a supplicant.
aNIma (with a badi ee ki maatra) refers to "the pin of an axle or the stern of a
boat or
the focal point of an instrument".
accordingly jaasu bhavan (whose home) animaadik daasi;
nihaal could also refer to the state of being exalted or being satisfied (nirat
nihaal)
i particularly enjoyed your pointing out the similarities between Tyagaraja's and
Tulsidaas'
devotion to Rama. interestingly, tulsi daas uses the word jas as an adjective
(in which case it means similar) rather than as a noun (meaning fame); vimal
bhagati would
mean pure / unblemished devotion; and thus he deflects the attention from siva to
his
ishta devata rama with "tulasi daas jaanchata jas gaave, vimala bhagati raghupati
ki paave!"

Other than the rAmacaritamAnasa, ShrI tuLasIdAsa has composer works
like kr.shNa gItavali(song in post #28 belongs to this work), vinaya patrikA,
chaupAyI, the sankaTa mOcana hanumAn stOtra as well as the cAlIsa (40 couplets)
on hanumAn and many other works on various dieties. He has also dedicated
a whole work on the wedding of rAma and sIta entitled, jAnakI mangaLa.

Meaning :

tU dayAl dIna houn tU dAni houn bhikhAri

You are merciful and I am destitute; You grant wishes and I am the seeker.
I am a well-known fallen one and You absolve away the heap of sins.
You protect the orphans, and there is no orphan like me [hence, protect me].
There is no pain-absolver like You and I am in immense pain [hence, absolve my
pain].
You are the Brahman and I am a [destitute] living-being;
You are the Preceptor and I am a disciple. You are for my benefit in each way �
as father, mother, preceptor, or friend. My relations with You are infinite
[since You are present in everything], so assume the one You like.
At least, this way, Tulsi will get refuge in Your dual-feet.
