LESSON PLAN (WRITING) - The Pied Pipers

FRIDAY, 12 OCTOBER 2018


WALT – understand what the poem is about.

SUBJECT : ENGLISH LANGUAGE

FORM : 3

DURATION : 60 MINUTES

THEME : PEOPLE AND CULTURE

TOPIC : The Day The Bulldozer Came

FOCUS SKILLS : LITERATURE in ACTION

CONTENT STANDARD : MAIN SKILL – Literature in Action 5.1 Engage with,


respond to and interpret a variety of literary texts.

LEARNING STANDARD : MAIN SKILL – Literature in Action 5.1.1 Explain why a


part of aspect of a text interests them.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson, pupils are able to:
i- explain the part of the poem that they like.

CROSS CURRICULAR : Values, nature.


ELEMENTS

ACTIVITIES: :  Pupils are shown a picture of a serene scenery


and followed by a picture of deforestation.
PRE-LESSON  Teacher coax pupils’ feedback.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT :  Pupils are divided into groups of four. Each
group is given a set of pictures and a drawing
paper and stationery.
 Pupils are asked to read the poem in their
groups and interpret it through their drawing.
 Each group take turns to present their
interpretation of the poem.
 Pupils then listen to teacher explaining the
meaning of the poem.
 A few pupils are called (at random) to give their
opinions and reasons on a particular stanza
that they like.
POST LESSON :  Pupils are asked to review their learning in this
lesson by completing an exit card:
Pupils are given a HOTS question :
Eg: If you were one of the animals, what would
you do when the bulldozer comes to your place?
Give a reason for your answer.
 Collect the cards and use them for planning the
next lesson.
